Chapter 158
Chapter 158
Qin Weiyi instinctively took a few steps forward. Then, as if remembering something, he grabbed Lu Jing and only then headed toward the Stairs.
After a few steps, he was more or less standing where Jian Fan and Qin Nan had been just now.
Qin Weiyi looked up toward the floor above. Nothing seemed strange. Then he turned and looked toward the place where Mu Xin and the others had been.
There was no one there now, either.
Qin Weiyi tightened his grip on Lu Jing’s hand.
No matter how slow Lu Jing could be, he still had eyes. Of course he realized something was wrong. He gripped Qin Weiyi’s hand in return, pulled him behind himself, and scanned their surroundings warily.
But there was nothing. He could not sense even the slightest hint of danger.
“Xiao Qin.” Lu Jing blurted it out without thinking. Then he realized something and quickly shut his mouth, only turning his head to look at Qin Weiyi in confusion.
Qin Weiyi was frowning as well.
He did not know exactly what was going on, but he had a rough guess.
The Realm of Death would always be different from games in the real world.
An Escape Room here would never be as simple as one in reality. The Realm of Death still had its own Custom Setting, and what was happening now was probably one of those Custom Settings.
What could it be?
Overlapping Space?
The entrance and exit were at the Stairs between the fifth and sixth floors. The moment someone stepped into this spot, they would be transported to another space, and only the companions right beside them would still exist together with them.
Qin Weiyi had a guess, but he could not be certain.
After thinking for a moment, he looked at Lu Jing and asked, “Want to take a risk?”
Qin Weiyi said it aloud. Lu Jing paused slightly, then replied, “I’ll follow your lead. Whatever you want to do, we’ll do it.”
Qin Weiyi laughed softly. “Good. Then let’s go up to the sixth floor.”
Even if Zhao Yingguo was on the sixth floor, Lu Jing had no fear.
Lu Jing stepped forward, wanting to walk ahead of Qin Weiyi. He was about to let go of Qin Weiyi’s hand.
Holding hands would undoubtedly cost him the use of one hand. If they ran into trouble, his fighting ability would drop sharply.
But Qin Weiyi did not let go. He said, “I suspect it’s Overlapping Space.”
“A what?” Lu Jing did not understand.
The corner of Qin Weiyi’s mouth twitched. “It’s better if we keep holding hands. At least that can guarantee we’re always in the same space. Otherwise…”
Lu Jing did not understand much, but he had eyes. Jian Fan and Qin Nan had disappeared far too strangely, and Mu Xin’s group had also suddenly vanished. To put it simply, the two of them had been separated from the rest of the team. Qin Weiyi’s goal was to make sure the two of them did not get separated from each other as well.
Lu Jing understood, but having one hand occupied really was too inconvenient.
After thinking about it, he looked at Qin Weiyi and asked, “Can I carry you on my back?”
Qin Weiyi paused, then nodded. “Sure.”
Lu Jing was a man of action. He immediately crouched down in front of Qin Weiyi, and Qin Weiyi did not stand on ceremony.
When there was no danger, Lu Jing could support Qin Weiyi with both hands. If something really happened, Qin Weiyi could wrap his arms around Lu Jing’s neck and hold on for a while. At the very least, Lu Jing would be able to free both hands.
Once they were settled, Lu Jing carried Qin Weiyi up to the sixth floor.
The Stairs were not long, and the two soon arrived on the sixth floor.
The iron door on the sixth floor was not locked at the moment. When Qin Weiyi saw this, he was certain his guess had been right.
Before they left, Jian Fan had clearly locked the iron door. But now, the door was open. This was probably a dormitory building in another space.
Lu Jing carefully stepped through the iron door.
And the moment he did, everything around them changed completely.
Originally, they had been in an extremely quiet environment with no one around. But the instant they stepped through the iron door on the sixth floor, they saw a number of people suddenly appear there.
Some girls came out of the dorm rooms in groups, chatting and laughing as they headed toward the Stairs. Some were fooling around by the Stairs on their way back to their rooms. Others had come to the dormitory supervisor’s room to look for the supervisor. And the supervisor…
The supervisor was standing in the doorway right now, talking to two girls outside.
The important part wasn’t the two girls. It was the dormitory supervisor.
They had watched the video so many times that there was no way they could mistake her. This dormitory supervisor was the very one who had died in the Fire.
Qin Weiyi raised an eyebrow.
He looked around again.
The people coming and going wore all kinds of clothes and naturally had different faces. The only thing they had in common was probably that they were all girls. This had, after all, been a girls’ dormitory to begin with.
They had most likely traveled through space and time to arrive inside the dormitory building as it had once been. They just didn’t know what point in time this was. And there was one more thing. As Qin Weiyi watched the girls walk past them without so much as a glance, another guess formed in his mind.
In this space-time, they were outsiders. These people couldn’t see them.
To verify his guess, Qin Weiyi patted Lu Jing on the shoulder and said, “Go stand in front of that girl.”
“Huh?” Lu Jing was bewildered. “Isn’t that kind of inappropriate?”
Even as he said it was inappropriate, his feet were brutally honest. He moved to block the entrance to the Stairs, just in time to stand directly in the path of the two girls walking over together.
The two girls, however, seemed completely unaware that anything was wrong. They kept chatting and laughing, then walked straight into Lu Jing.
Lu Jing was startled. He wanted to dodge, but when he remembered Qin Weiyi’s instruction, he planted himself firmly in place. Then-
Lu Jing watched in shock as the two girls passed right through his and Qin Weiyi’s bodies.
What the hell?
Lu Jing’s eyes widened.
Qin Weiyi, however, smiled.
Just as expected.
“Put me down,” Qin Weiyi said to Lu Jing.
Lu Jing gave an “oh” and quickly did as he was told.
Once he was back on the ground, Qin Weiyi took Lu Jing’s hand again and said, “There probably won’t be any danger, but the Overlapping Space may still exist.”
As he spoke, he walked toward the dormitory supervisor’s room.
He wanted to see what the dormitory supervisor’s room looked like at this point in time, and whether he could find any clues.
The dormitory supervisor’s room was more or less the same as the one they would later find, except that it was cleaner now. The four-piece bedding set on the bed wasn’t the same set they had found later, either. Other than that, there wasn’t much difference.
Qin Weiyi thought for a moment, then went into the bathroom.
There were already two rinse cups sitting on the sink, which meant that, at this point in time, Zhao Yingguo had already come into contact with the dormitory supervisor and had begun living here. After confirming this, Qin Weiyi went out to the balcony for a look.
There were some clothes hanging on the balcony now, but none of the green plants they would later find there.
The dormitory supervisor had no idea Qin Weiyi and Lu Jing existed. At the moment, she was still talking with the two girls at the door.
“This weather really is annoying. It’s been raining nonstop, and even the clothes won’t dry,” the dormitory supervisor said with a sigh.
“You’ve got it pretty good, Auntie. You get a whole balcony to yourself. There are four of us in one room, and we can’t even fit everything on our balcony,” one girl complained.
The dormitory supervisor laughed. “It’s been raining for so long, it’ll probably clear up in a few days. Hang in there a little longer.”
The girl sighed. “I hope so.”
The three of them were talking when the dormitory supervisor saw a girl passing by and suddenly called out, “Li Xiting, wait a moment.”
The girl who happened to be walking past the dormitory supervisor’s room stopped when she heard the supervisor call her name.
Qin Weiyi remembered that name.
She was in the same dorm room as Zhao Yingguo.
