Chapter 108
Chapter 108
That night, they didn’t encounter any more Airdrops.
However, no further accidents occurred either.
Early the next morning, everyone woke up early and began packing their things. By around 6:50 AM, they were mostly finished. Seeing that they still had some time, they ate a few bananas to line their stomachs.
By 6:57 AM, everyone stopped their non-essential activities and gripped their luggage tightly, ready to Run the Poison Circle at a moment’s notice.
6:58. 6:59.
7:00 sharp.
The time jumped to seven o’clock.
Everyone began to cautiously observe their surroundings. Their first instinct was to look toward the shore.
There was no movement by the sea at the moment. The seawater washed onto the beach, but no Green Bubbles like yesterday’s appeared on the sand. After that, they turned their gaze toward the grass.
There was no movement there either.
This time, the Transmission Medium for the Green Bubbles wasn’t sand or grass. Could it be-rocks?
Jian Fan looked up at the mountain not far away.
The mountain was covered in greenery, appearing naturally lush from a distance. However, aside from the green plants, there were large patches of exposed rock surfaces. Right now, those rock surfaces were rapidly being covered by a layer of green that was distinctly different from the vegetation.
“Over there,” Jian Fan spoke up to alert them.
Hearing this, the others looked up.
This time, the Transmission Medium for the Green Bubbles was rock. This meant their current area was completely safe; they didn’t need to Run the Poison Circle.
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief, immediately setting their things back on the ground and sitting down.
Although they hadn’t actually done anything yet, the sudden relaxation after being in a state of high alert left them feeling a wave of exhaustion.
“It looks like the Green Bubbles are just like what you Big Shots speculated before,” Yellow Hair said.
Though it was dangerous, Yellow Hair felt this world was much simpler than previous ones. This was likely because, in the past, he had to use his own brain and was constantly running for his life. In this world, however, he had Big Shots leading the way.
Lin Junruo looked at Jian Fan now without a trace of her initial disdain; all that remained was admiration.
She didn’t dare ask Jian Fan directly, so she tugged on Mu Xin’s sleeve and asked, “How did they deduce that the spread of the Green Bubbles was related to a Transmission Medium?”
Qi Shuping was standing nearby and, hearing Lin Junruo’s question, took the initiative to explain: “It’s simple. Don’t you think this Deserted Island is a bit too quiet?”
“Isn’t a Deserted Island supposed to be like this? Remote and uninhabited?” Lin Junruo asked, puzzled.
Qi Shuping smiled and said, “On a Deserted Island, it’s normal for there to be no people, no cultivated plants, or livestock. But have you ever seen a wild forest without animals? Even on a Deserted Island, there should be birds chirping, snakes, rats, insects, and ants. But so far, other than the only three living creatures Lu Jing found yesterday, we haven’t seen any other life on this island. We haven’t even heard any.”
Lin Junruo blinked. Having heard that much, she managed to catch the line of reasoning.
There should be living creatures on the Deserted Island, but now there were almost none. There was only one possibility: these creatures had been wiped out.
By what?
The answer was obvious: the Green Bubbles, also known as the Poison Circle.
But if the Green Bubbles were limited to the sand, then only the creatures on the beach would have disappeared, and the entire Deserted Island wouldn’t look like this. Therefore, it could be inferred that the Green Bubbles could appear in other places.
Based on yesterday’s Green Bubbles, if the rocks and grass couldn’t transmit them then, how would they have wiped out the other creatures on this Deserted Island?
Thus, the answer was quite obvious.
The Green Bubbles could spread across rocks and grass now, but they couldn’t yesterday. If Lin Junruo had been left to guess on her own, she truly wouldn’t have figured it out. However, once she knew there was an issue with the Transmission Medium, thinking back on it made everything click.
And this was precisely why Qi Shuping could say with such certainty that the Green Bubbles were carnivorous.
Qin Nan had naturally overheard Qi Shuping’s words.
There were no other living creatures on the Deserted Island. After the Green Bubbles appeared, unknown creatures had emerged to eat the fried chicken. Combining these two facts made the deduction that the Green Bubbles were carnivorous much more reasonable.
Furthermore, the deduction that the Green Bubbles would eventually recede became even more logical. Beyond Xu Tian’s behavior, there was the state of the Deserted Island itself.
There were no living creatures on the beach either. This implied that the beach must have experienced an attack by the Green Bubbles previously, yet the Green Bubbles were absent when they first arrived.
“Hey,” Qin Nan nudged Jian Fan with his elbow and asked, “Did you have the same thought as Professor Qi?”
Jian Fan shook his head. “I didn’t see through it as clearly as Professor Qi did.”
“Then how did you deduce there was an issue with the medium?” Qin Nan asked again.
Jian Fan looked at Qin Nan and replied, “Game logic.”
“Game logic?” Lin Junruo’s attention shifted over immediately. She wanted to learn as much as possible from the Big Shots.
“The necessity of existence,” Jian Fan added.
Qin Nan thought about it for a moment before a look of realization dawned on him. Lin Junruo, however, remained blank-faced. Seeing this, Mu Xin, who was standing beside her, let out a small laugh and explained for her: “The existence of the Green Bubbles must serve a significant purpose. If it were a danger you could avoid simply by leaving the beach, why make such a big deal out of it? I think the phrase ‘Run the Poison Circle’ gave Jian Fan the inspiration.”
Jian Fan gave a slight nod. “Run the Poison Circle. ‘Run’ and ‘Poison.'”
Lin Junruo finally looked like she understood.
Under those circumstances, in Jian Fan’s view, the ‘Poison’ existed, but the ‘Run’ did not. If the danger was limited strictly to the sand, those who were going to die were already dead, and those who survived wouldn’t return to the area. If you could just avoid it, there was no question of having to ‘run.’
Of course, Jian Fan only considered this because ‘Run the Poison Circle’ had inspired him; it wasn’t because he was certain this world definitely operated on that mechanic.
Though, as it turned out, this world really did have a fantastic crossover with the game Chicken Dinner.
Airdrops, Running the Poison Circle-it was all there, albeit manifesting in the Realm of Death’s own unique way.
“As expected, while everyone has a brain, the difference between a Big Shot’s brain and an ordinary person’s brain is like heaven and earth,” Lin Junruo lamented.
Qi Shuping seemed amused by this. She smiled and said, “Jian Fan is indeed a very clever child. But young lady, while some things are innate and cannot be changed, hard work can ensure you aren’t left behind. You probably wouldn’t want to know what Jian Fan sacrificed to achieve what he has today. His current way of thinking is the inevitable result of his past efforts.”
Lin Junruo hadn’t expected her casual lament to draw a response from Qi Shuping. she quickly straightened her posture, listening obediently like a student.
“I can’t say for sure whether talent or hard work is more important for success. However, someone with talent but no effort will eventually fade into the crowd. But someone without innate talent who puts in the work still has hope. Young lady, you must believe that one day, you will become a Big Shot in the eyes of others. You will succeed,” Qi Shuping said with a smile.
Lin Junruo, who had initially just been nervous to face a legendary figure, felt deeply moved by Qi Shuping’s words. Once Qi Shuping finished speaking, Lin Junruo nodded vigorously.
“I will work hard!” Lin Junruo declared.
She might have taken the wrong path before, but if she started working hard now, it definitely wasn’t too late!
