“Um, should we get going too?” Lin Junruo asked cautiously once everyone else had moved off.

Qian Xing snapped out of his thoughts and flashed her a smile. “Alright.”

Knowing her own limitations, Lin Junruo decided to simply play the role of a quiet tag-along and followed behind Qian Xing.

Qian Xing had spent a brief amount of time with Lin Junruo and had a rough understanding of her character. She had her own little schemes and minor flaws, but overall, she wasn’t a problem. While she likely couldn’t be relied upon in a dangerous situation, she was relatively low-threat.

Qin Weiyi had shared this sentiment, which was why he had paired Lin Junruo with Qian Xing.

Of course, it was also the best option among a lack of good choices.

Qian Xing led Lin Junruo directly toward the Surveillance Room.

Lin Junruo could tell that Qian Xing was walking with a clear purpose. Though she was curious, she didn’t dare ask and followed silently until they reached the Surveillance Room. Seeing the array of screens inside, she vaguely realized that Qin Weiyi must have said something to Qian Xing before leaving.

The door to the Surveillance Room was wide open, and the room was empty.

This was thanks to the scene Qi Shuping had caused earlier. The sight of a living person turning into a Skin Sack had not only scared off the customers but also the Bar’s staff, including the Security Guards in the Surveillance Room. In their rush to escape for their lives, they naturally hadn’t remembered to close the door.

Qian Xing sat down directly in front of the monitors.

Most of the Bar was visible on the large screens. Before long, Qian Xing located Qi Shuping’s group of three, as well as Xia Zeqin and Xu Tian.

Aside from the Players on their side, Qian Xing soon spotted the Vampires. Seeing the Vampires moving in packs, their numbers clearly several times their own, Qian Xing couldn’t help but tremble.

However, he quickly steadied his emotions.

His gaze swept across the screens one by one.

Qian Xing didn’t see Jian Fan or the other two on the monitors. This meant there were only two possibilities: first, the three had already been wiped out; second, they were in a place the Surveillance couldn’t reach-for example, the Second Floor.

Clearly, Qian Xing leaned toward the latter possibility.

Was Qin Weiyi’s appearance at this time to help Qi Shuping evade the Vampires’ pursuit also a way to buy time for Jian Fan and his group?

Qian Xing had complete faith in Jian Fan. With that thought, his confidence immediately surged.

His eyes remained glued to the screens. He quickly picked up his Walkie-talkie to report the current situation to Qin Weiyi. “There are sixty-seven Vampires in total. Most are currently concentrated in the Bar’s main hall. Twelve are in the Private Room area, and a few are heading toward the Kitchen. There are five or six Vampires lingering near your position. Be careful.”

Hearing the report over the Walkie-talkie, Qin Weiyi’s expression turned grim. “Copy that.”

Sixty-seven Vampires. Including Jian Fan’s group, they only had ten people. Not to mention, among those ten, they had the completely useless Lin Junruo, as well as the eccentric duo of Xu Tian and Xia Zeqin.

It was a truly dire situation.

“We can’t just sit here and wait for death. Constant hiding is useless,” Qi Shuping said to Qin Weiyi, having also heard the report from the Walkie-talkie.

Qin Weiyi knew what Qi Shuping meant, but with so many Vampires…

“Jian Fan and the other two have gone to the Second Floor. According to the logic of this Vampire World, there should be a Matriarch-offspring relationship. Once the Matriarch is killed, all the offspring should disappear,” Qin Weiyi told Qi Shuping.
“You aren’t the type of person to pin all your hopes on someone else,” Qi Shuping pointed out directly.

Qin Weiyi paused, but he quickly broke into a smile. “True, I’m not. However, staying alive is more important. If the other person is trustworthy, there’s no harm in putting my faith in them just once.”

“But I won’t,” Qi Shuping said.

For the first time, Qin Weiyi saw an expression of solemnity and gravity on Qi Shuping’s face.

“Jian Fan is a very clever child, but that doesn’t mean he’s guaranteed to succeed. We have no contact with them right now. If we keep hiding like this without knowing how things are progressing, our mental state will eventually collapse. Since that’s the case, we might as well take action ourselves. I’ve been through quite a few life-and-death situations to get where I am today. If I didn’t rely on myself, this man-eating place would have devoured me long ago until not even my bones remained,” Qi Shuping said, her tone earnest.

Qin Weiyi thought back to the conversation they had when they ran into Jian Fan’s group at the Stairs earlier.

The Realm of Death was maliciously targeting Qi Shuping.

This certainly wasn’t her first world.

He could somewhat understand Qi Shuping’s perspective now.

Qin Weiyi quickly smiled. “Fine, I’ll follow your lead, Professor Qi. What do you want to do?”

Qi Shuping picked up her walkie-talkie. “Qian Xing, tell me the distribution of the Vampires near us. Distances, numbers-I want everything.”

Qian Xing was taken aback, but he quickly complied.

Though Qi Shuping usually appeared kind and amiable, Qian Xing had personally witnessed her sudden strike against a Vampire. From the moment she abruptly stopped the guest wearing the Vampire Mask to her later rescue of Lin Junruo from a Vampire’s clutches, Qi Shuping was undoubtedly the most decisive and bold person in their group. Yet, her boldness was never reckless.

She had proposed swapping the Vampire Mask because she had already confirmed at the time that the person was just an ordinary guest. She had spoken up to save Lin Junruo because she had already made up her mind to eliminate a Vampire in front of everyone.

Qian Xing had once asked Qi Shuping how she had been so sure whether someone was a Vampire or not.

At the time, Qi Shuping had explained to him with a gentle smile, “The Vampire Mask itself doesn’t distinguish between humans and Vampires. However, after a true Vampire performs an Embrace, the victim’s neck will bleed, and their mask will undergo a change.”
