Chapter 100
Chapter 100
“It’s just a tent, it didn’t cost that much,” Qin Nan said, his tone deliberately casual.
Xia Zeqin raised an eyebrow at him. “If you want to test me, just be direct. I spent my Points long ago. Why keep something useless around? You don’t actually think you’re ever going back to reality, do you?”
Qin Nan hadn’t expected Xia Zeqin to be so blunt.
On this point, he wasn’t lying.
This left Qin Nan with a lingering doubt: was Xia Zeqin actually one of the people from the Realm of Death?
If he was convinced they could never leave the Realm of Death, then squandering his Points on a whim made sense.
Since Xia Zeqin suggested being direct, Qin Nan smiled and pressed on. “Why wouldn’t we be able to? Isn’t Professor Qi almost at the threshold? Xia Zeqin, how about a bet? I bet Professor Qi will have enough Points by the end of this world. If I win, you have to answer one question of mine-no refusing. What do you say?”
Xia Zeqin let out another chuckle.
Qin Nan’s Abacus was certainly being used skillfully. If Qi Shuping couldn’t leave this world, then most of them were likely doomed anyway. If they were dead, Xia Zeqin’s origins wouldn’t matter to Qin Nan at all.
“If I answer, would you even dare to believe me?” Xia Zeqin countered.
“That’s my business,” Qin Nan said. “Just tell me: are you in or not?”
Xia Zeqin, who had been sitting on a rock, leaned back and lay down, his tone relaxed. “Sure. But first, you’d better find a way to survive the mess we’re in right now.”
Despite his words, Xia Zeqin didn’t seem particularly worried about their current predicament.
Seeing the conversation shift back to their immediate problem, Lin Junruo, who was standing nearby, silently raised her hand.
“Um…” She had been listening intently, and a doubt had begun to form in her mind. After hesitating for a long time, she finally spoke up timidly.
Though her voice was small, the surroundings were quiet, and everyone quickly turned their attention to her.
Lin Junruo spoke with some restraint. “I have a question.”
“What is it?” Qin Nan asked.
“Given our current situation… actually, there was no need for Xu Tian to expose herself at all, right?” Lin Junruo said softly.
Her words immediately struck a chord with everyone present.
They were currently trapped in this rocky area, essentially powerless to fight back. Death was only a matter of time. So, why would Xu Tian take such a risk at a time like this?
There was only one answer.
“There’s a way to leave this place,” Qin Weiyi said, his expression turning serious.
This was undoubtedly good news for them, but how were they supposed to leave? For now, they were completely clueless.
“Could it be that we need to spend Points?” Qian Xing suggested, opening the Points Mall as he spoke.
This time, the Points Mall was mostly filled with daily necessities. There were a few rare items, but no matter how much Qian Xing looked them over, he couldn’t see anything that could help with their current situation.
But if it wasn’t the Points Mall, what else could they do while standing on these rocks?
Time was ticking away, and they still had no solution to their plight.
An indeterminate amount of time passed until the silence was broken by the sound of someone’s stomach growling.
Qin Weiyi looked at Lu Jing, who was sitting beside him, and asked, “Hungry?”
Lu Jing rubbed his stomach and gave an embarrassed smile.
Lu Jing had exerted himself the most, so he was the first to get hungry, but the others weren’t faring much better. They couldn’t leave this spot, and the food and supplies they had found yesterday had all been consumed within the green bubbles.
It was Lu Jing now, but soon it would be their turn.
To avoid starving to death, they had to either find a way out or spend Points on food. But how long could they sustain themselves like that?
A heavy atmosphere quickly settled over the group.
Just then, Qi Shuping suddenly reached into the void and pulled out a pack of compressed biscuits and a bottle of water. Once she had the items, she handed them directly to Lu Jing, saying succinctly, “A token of thanks.”
Compressed biscuits cost thirty Points, and a bottle of water was twenty. These two items alone cost fifty Points.
Lu Jing didn’t take them immediately. Instead, he looked at Qin Weiyi.
Qin Weiyi nodded.
Fifty Points in exchange for her life-no matter how Qi Shuping looked at it, she was the one coming out ahead.
Lu Jing took the items and tore them open. However, he didn’t eat right away; he offered them to Qin Weiyi first.
Qin Weiyi wasn’t particularly hungry, but looking at Lu Jing, he silently took two biscuits to line his stomach.
Given Lu Jing’s massive appetite, if he didn’t eat now, Lu Jing likely wouldn’t save any for him later. Qin Weiyi decided it was better to eat a little now, just in case.
After Qin Weiyi took the biscuits, Lu Jing opened the water bottle and handed it to him. Qin Weiyi took two sips, and after that, everything else vanished into Lu Jing’s stomach.
The others weren’t starving yet, but they were starting to feel the pangs of hunger. They hadn’t noticed it much before, but watching Lu Jing eat made it hard for some to hold out.
Still, the thought of spending Points made their hearts ache with stinginess.
Xia Zeqin, however, couldn’t care less about any of that.
He scanned the Points Mall and clicked ‘exchange’ without hesitation.
Fried chicken for a hundred Points, and a bottle of ‘Happy Fat Nerd Water’ for fifty. This single meal cost him a total of one hundred and fifty Points.
After the previous incident with the Invisibility Pearl, Qin Nan and the others remained calm. Yellow Hair and Orange Hair, however, looked like their eyes were about to pop out of their heads. Was there really such a ‘talent’ out there who treated Points like water?
One had to admit, though Xia Zeqin didn’t save his Points, he lived a much better life than they did.
Watching Lu Jing eat had only triggered a mild sense of hunger, but now, seeing Xia Zeqin with a soda in one hand and fried chicken in the other, many people couldn’t help but swallow hard.
It smelled delicious.
Qin Nan managed to restrain himself, but he silently turned his head away.
*I can’t look, I can’t look.*
Xia Zeqin caught Qin Nan’s movement out of the corner of his eye.
Then, he picked up a piece of fried chicken, wafted it under his nose, and sighed. “It smells so good.”
Qin Nan: “…”
*This guy is such a prick.*
As if that wasn’t enough, Xia Zeqin took a bite of the chicken and made a point of smacking his lips loudly. Every gulp of soda was followed by an exaggerated sound of satisfaction.
Qin Nan felt deeply wounded and insulted.
He wasn’t the only one; the others weren’t feeling great either. They all stared at Xia Zeqin with resentful glares, but Xia Zeqin didn’t care at all. He sat on a rock, eating with gusto.
“Watch out, or we might just gang up on you,” Qin Nan said menacingly.
Xia Zeqin looked back at Qin Nan, held up the fried chicken, and asked, “Want some?”
Qin Nan remained silent.
Xia Zeqin smirked and continued, “Then use your Points to buy some.”
Qin Nan gave him a fake smile.
He was so annoyed.
He really wanted to hit someone.
Qin Nan decided to ignore Xia Zeqin. But just as he turned his head, a rustling sound suddenly echoed in his ears. He wasn’t the only one who heard it; everyone else noticed the anomaly at the same time.
The smile on Xia Zeqin’s face vanished instantly, his expression darkening as he listened to the noise.
