Chapter 263
Chapter 263
As soon as the Flower Prince finished speaking, his flower drifted above Mu Xin’s head.
He quickly descended, bringing the flower down beside her. Before Mu Xin could react–or rather, while she pretended to be too stunned to react–the Flower Prince pulled her onto his flower without any resistance from her.
Once she was aboard, the Flower Prince took off again.
The man froze when he saw the Flower Prince, then bowed respectfully. “So it is Your Highness, the Prince of the Flower World.”
The Flower Prince swept a cold glance over him. “Don’t strike up conversations with people so casually.”
The man was speechless.
He felt rather wronged. Hadn’t he merely injured her by accident? It wasn’t as if he had deliberately tried to chat her up.
The Flower Prince didn’t care what the man thought. After saying his piece, he took Mu Xin and left.
The Flower Prince’s appearance meant Mu Xin’s plan was already more than halfway successful.
She had realized that the key to her task was explaining why she had fled the wedding.
Unfortunately, she genuinely had no idea why Thumbelina had run away. She didn’t know whether Thumbelina had truly deceived him into marriage or whether something unexpected had happened. With so little time left, Mu Xin couldn’t afford to spend ages uncovering Thumbelina’s reasons for fleeing the wedding, so she simply made up a story of her own.
If she wanted the Flower Prince to accept her again, she needed to explain why she had fled the wedding.
Mu Xin knew exactly how to use such things to her advantage.
Not only did she intend to resolve the conflict that had arisen between her and the Flower Prince over the matter, but she also planned to turn his resentment toward Thumbelina into guilt.
Of course, this tactic would have been much more likely to fail on someone who didn’t love Thumbelina. But the Flower Prince did love her. He had probably already been searching for excuses on her behalf, which meant there was a good chance he would readily accept the explanation Mu Xin offered him.
The Flower Prince’s appearance proved that Mu Xin had been right.
At the very least, her first step had succeeded.
She didn’t have much time. She had to complete this task as soon as possible.
“You… What are you doing here?” Mu Xin appeared surprised, but there was even more disappointment in her expression. Lowering her head slightly, she said, “Didn’t you already leave?”
The Flower Prince was silent.
“I received an invitation to the ball. Are you the only one allowed to attend?” the Flower Prince retorted stiffly.
The sight of the Flower Prince being so stubborn nearly made Mu Xin laugh out loud.
But she held it in.
As though she hadn’t heard the answer she wanted, her disappointment deepened, and her eyes even began to redden again.
She shook her head. “You are a noble prince, Your Highness. Of course you may attend. I’m the one who has no right to be at this ball. Why did I even come here?”
The Flower Prince was left speechless.
Mu Xin quickly pulled herself together. She raised her head, looked at the Flower Prince, and forced a smile. “I’m fine now, Prince. Just find somewhere to put me down.”
“That smile is hideous,” the Flower Prince said darkly as he stared at her forced smile.
Mu Xin was dumbfounded.
Even though she already knew what the Flower Prince was like, his infuriating remark still made her want to give the brat a good beating.
“What else are you planning to do?” the Flower Prince asked.
As Mu Xin listened to the Flower Prince, her anger instantly vanished. If the situation had allowed it, she would have arched an eyebrow at him.
Why did his words sound so incredibly jealous?
“Everyone here is normal-sized. Even if you wanted to seduce someone, you wouldn’t stand a chance,” the Flower Prince continued.
His words weren’t pleasant, but once Mu Xin considered why he was saying them, her mood soared.
She could practically see the mission reward beckoning to her.
On the surface, however, she still put on an aggrieved expression, as though deeply insulted. “Is that really what you think of me?”
The Flower Prince ignored her completely. Or rather, he was so caught up in his own emotions that no one could have interrupted what he wanted to say.
“The most powerful person you could seduce here is me,” the Flower Prince declared.
Mu Xin: “???”
“In that case, why don’t you… seduce me?” The Flower Prince lowered his gaze to Mu Xin. When he saw her utterly dumbfounded expression, his face reddened in embarrassment.
This time, Mu Xin truly was stunned.
Wasn’t the Flower Prince moving a little too fast?
She couldn’t shake the feeling that she had barely even started trying to win him over, yet he had somehow gone and won himself over for her.
All the strategies she had come up with seemed… completely unnecessary.
When the Flower Prince saw her remain silent, he grew annoyed. “What? Am I not worthy of being seduced by you?”
Mu Xin immediately snapped back to her senses and smiled. “When I seduce someone, it’s because I want him to marry me. Can Your Highness marry me?”
As she spoke, Mu Xin gazed eagerly at the Prince.
There was a tentative look in her shining eyes.
Under her gaze, the Flower Prince’s face grew even redder. He casually turned his head away to avoid her eyes. “This Prince does not toy with people’s feelings. Of course I can.”
Mu Xin immediately broke into a radiant smile. “All right. Then I’ll seduce Your Highness.”
The corners of the Flower Prince’s lips instinctively lifted at her words. But he quickly lowered his head again and said fiercely, “But I won’t give you my wings!”
Mu Xin did not care about the wings in the slightest. She beamed at him. “I don’t want the wings. I only want you to marry me.”
The Flower Prince paused. As he looked at Mu Xin, the last trace of resentment in his heart faded away completely.
Mu Xin reached out and clutched his sleeve, asking nervously, “Then… I’ll still be your wife? You’ve forgiven me?”
Seeing how anxious she looked, the Flower Prince smiled. “Of course.”
The moment the Flower Prince answered, a System notification chimed in Mu Xin’s mind.
“Ding! Congratulations, Player, on completing the mission. You are no longer bound to your character identity and may now play freely.”
“Ding! Mission complete. Player has received one mission gift and one Fragmented Story Page.”
A torn page appeared out of thin air in Mu Xin’s hand.
Since she still had to deal with the Flower Prince, she put the fragment away for the time being.
After saying everything he needed to say, the Flower Prince finally let go of all his earlier turmoil.
He reached out, took Mu Xin’s hand, and smiled. “Let’s go back.”
Mu Xin froze.
Go… back?
Back where?
Leave the ball?
Holy shit. Was she facing another deadly trial the very second she completed her mission?
