Chapter 129
Chapter 129
“Lu Jing,” Jian Fan suddenly shouted in Lu Jing’s direction.
This time, Jian Fan’s voice was loud enough that everyone turned to look at him.
“The fruit are bullets! Shoot them at the Fire clouds!” Jian Fan had no time to explain anything to Lu Jing right now. He could only tell him what to do.
Lu Jing heard Jian Fan’s words, and naturally, so did everyone else.
They all froze for a moment.
That unknown fruit was a bullet?
How was that possible?
Everyone found it unbelievable, but Jian Fan was absolutely certain of his guess. Qin Nan’s method had not been wrong. The object he used had been.
Bullets could kill the Rabbit, but the thing that would open the path out of here was the fruit.
This was a game, but it was not a Chicken Dinner game. Its final goal was not to leave only after killing every enemy. These guns existed not only to force them into conflict with their enemies, but also because they served another vital, necessary purpose.
To leave this world, the gun was one of the required tools.
He had to admit that without Lu Jing, even if they had figured out the answer in this world, it would probably still have been nearly impossible for them to complete it. After all, they might not have been able to fire the gun at all.
The Realm of Death’s malice toward Qi Shuping was laid bare in this one detail.
It did not want Qi Shuping to leave, yet it seemed unable to cut off every possible way out. So it had chosen an extremely difficult world. Unfortunately, the Realm of Death did not seem to be quite that clever. It had not compiled the data of the other Player together.
It had overlooked Lu Jing’s existence.
That made sense. If Qin Weiyi had not brought Lu Jing along, someone like Lu Jing, no matter how high his combat ability was, never would have made it this far.
Lu Jing did not care whether it was possible or not. Since Jian Fan had shouted it at him, he would trust Jian Fan this once.
In the last world, he had also thought they were about to die. Hadn’t Jian Fan suddenly cracked the world then and saved them all? This time, he still chose to believe.
Besides, Lu Jing had no other option.
He could not hold out much longer. If Jian Fan’s method was correct, then everything would end.
Lu Jing fired several more shots outside, bang, bang, bang, emptying all the bullets in the gun. Then he quickly pulled the Red Fruit from his backpack and, almost without hesitation, loaded those pieces of Red Fruit directly into the magazine by hand.
Lu Jing moved fast.
There was almost no hesitation in him. His hands flew. Once the fruit was loaded, he immediately swung the gun around and aimed the muzzle at the Fire clouds on the horizon.
“Bang. Bang. Bang.”
Lu Jing fired three shots in a row.
The gun in Lu Jing’s hands shot the Red Fruit out. At the same time, the enemy’s bullets came flying toward Lu Jing.
This time, the enemy had aimed at Lu Jing’s head.
Qin Weiyi held his breath.
If Jian Fan had miscalculated, then Lu Jing would die.
This was an all-or-nothing gamble.
Qin Weiyi turned his head and looked in the direction the fruit had flown.
The fruit shot straight toward the Fire clouds at the edge of the sky.
But they were too far from the horizon. The fruit did fly a great distance, but there was still a long way to go before they reached the Fire clouds. Seeing that the fruit were about to fall, Qin Weiyi felt as if his entire heart had plummeted.
It was over.
But Jian Fan did not give up. He was still staring intently at the horizon.
Just as that piece of fruit was about to drop, the second and third pieces Lu Jing had fired caught up. And just when Qin Weiyi thought there was no hope-
Bang.
In a completely impossible turn of events, the three pieces of fruit collided together. Then they burst apart, spreading into a cloud of Red Mist.
The Red Mist swept straight toward the fiery clouds on the horizon.
The bullet was already right in front of him. Lu Jing tilted his head slightly. There was no chance for him to dodge anymore, but if Qin Weiyi could get away, then that was good enough.
Lu Jing smiled.
He actually wasn’t afraid of dying.
Just then, the Red Mist spread across the entire sky in an impossible fashion, and everything before Lu Jing’s eyes turned a solid red.
The pain he had expected never came.
Lu Jing froze for a second, then turned to look in Qin Weiyi and the others’ direction.
And in that very instant, as he turned his head, the Red Mist dispersed.
Lu Jing stared at the scene that had abruptly changed before him and froze.
Before his eyes was that familiar expanse of white again. Did this mean-they were back?
And he wasn’t dead?
Lu Jing came back to himself and abruptly lowered his head to look at the leg that had been injured moments ago. The leg that had been hit by a bullet was now completely healed. Lu Jing climbed up from the ground and felt nothing at all.
He was back.
Qin Weiyi had also snapped out of it. He scrambled to his feet and rushed straight over to Lu Jing, plunging headfirst into his arms. Clinging to Lu Jing, he began to cry.
Lu Jing froze for a moment before he recovered. He patted Qin Weiyi on the back and smiled. “Xiao Qin, I’m fine. I’m alive and well.”
Qin Weiyi couldn’t hear a word right now. All he wanted was to hold on to Lu Jing and have a good cry.
This was the first time Qin Weiyi had cried since coming to the Realm of Death. He cried like a child. No-he was a child to begin with.
Lu Jing was stunned for a moment, then the smile faded from his face. He didn’t say anything more, only continued patting Qin Weiyi’s back in comfort.
He wasn’t afraid of death. What he cared about more was Qin Weiyi’s safety. It wasn’t just because Qin Weiyi had once saved him. After spending so much time together, the bond between them had long since stopped being as simple as one person repaying a favor and the other receiving it.
“Xiao Qin, if we both make it back, why don’t you become my godson?” Lu Jing suddenly said. “I’ve lived this long and I’m still a bachelor. I’ve given up on finding a wife, so how about you be my godson and take care of me in my old age, then see me off when I die?”
“In your dreams.” Qin Weiyi was still crying, but he didn’t forget to talk back.
Lu Jing chuckled. “Well, if I don’t dream about it, it definitely won’t happen. Can’t hurt to dream, right? What if one day it suddenly comes true?”
Qin Weiyi pushed Lu Jing away and gave a derisive laugh. “Go to sleep, then. You can have anything you want in your dreams.” Though he said that, after a short silence, Qin Weiyi still added, “If you want me to take care of you in your old age and send you off, then make sure you survive first. Otherwise, am I supposed to hug your ashes and show filial piety to them?”
“Hey, you got it.” Lu Jing immediately answered loud and clear.
Jian Fan and the others also climbed up from the ground.
Yellow Hair looked somewhat incredulous. “We actually… really came back.” He looked at Jian Fan, his face full of admiration. “Big Shot, you’re amazing.”
But Jian Fan had no attention to spare for Yellow Hair. He looked at Qi Shuping and asked, “Professor Qi, your Points…”
Qi Shuping smiled and said, “They’re enough. I can leave this place now.”
For Qi Shuping, this was good news. For everyone else, it was undoubtedly heartening as well.
Qi Shuping’s success meant that they might also be able to leave this place. And yet Jian Fan wasn’t happy. He felt that Qi Shuping’s smile wasn’t quite as joyful as it should have been either.
There was worry in her smile.
