Chapter 96
Chapter 96
Baolong and Child Fiend hurried over and grabbed Liu Ye’s hands.
“Brother Liu, forgive me for asking, but… do you have a driver’s license?”
“Driver’s license? What’s that?” Liu Ye asked, confused. He seemed to remember Brother Driver mentioning it before.
Everyone: “…”
They all sucked in a cold breath.
Baolong stammered, “It’s… it’s like, according to national law, if we want to drive a motor vehicle, we need a driver’s license before we’re allowed to drive.”
At that moment, he was incredibly grateful he had been born in a country with a sound legal system.
“So without that thing, they won’t let you drive?” Liu Ye asked, puzzled.
“Right, right, that’s how it works. The teachers at our school all said you can’t drive without a license,” Child Fiend quickly added.
“Well, that’s a problem… Then why don’t you guys drive?”
The Fiend: “…”
Baolong and the others: “…”
They couldn’t drive. The Fiend couldn’t drive, and after Baolong and the others heard the way the car had screamed just now, they were even less willing to try.
“See? That settles it, doesn’t it? None of you can drive, so it has to be me. We’ll just have to treat a dead horse like a living one. Besides, I’ve driven before.”
“You’ve driven before?” Baolong asked in delight.
“Of course! Don’t worry, I’ll definitely get you there!”
To the Western Paradise, maybe?
Everyone, human and Fiend alike, thought uneasily.
Then Liu Ye grabbed the gearshift and yanked hard, ripping it right off.
“Aaaah!!!”
Everyone and the Fiends heard the car scream again. There was even the sound of sobbing.
“W-w-wait a second, Brother Liu. Do you really know how to drive?” Office Worker asked anxiously.
“Relax. I may not have a license, but I really do know how!” Liu Ye said. (In real life, good kids, please do not imitate this.)
“But what you just did doesn’t look like something a person who knows how to drive would do!” Child Fiend’s voice was already trembling with tears.
“Don’t worry about that. What happened just now was an accident. I’ll get used to it after a bit. You should know, when I drove at the amusement park a few days ago, not a single person could out-crash me,” Liu Ye said, thumping his chest.
“Those were bumper cars!!!”
Liu Ye jammed the gearshift back in and pushed it forward. That was how he’d seen it done on TV.
“Awooo!!!!”
Another cry rang out, and everyone couldn’t help shuddering. Liu Ye, however, sighed in admiration. He had to admit, this car really was impressive. Its sound effects were much better than Brother Driver’s car.
He pressed down hard several times, and a series of endless screams rang out. The cars passing nearby were so startled they nearly got into accidents. What the hell was going on? The Ten Great Tortures?
Then the car actually started moving!
It had no choice. If it didn’t move, it was afraid Liu Ye would stab it to death.
“Hey, hey, hey, look! It’s moving!”
Liu Ye turned his head and shouted excitedly.
“Look at the road, damn it!!!”
Everyone roared.
“Relax, my skills are great-”
Before he could finish, the car slammed into the guardrail with a boom and flew straight off the cliff.
“Aaaaaah…”
In that instant, everyone screamed in terror.
At the critical moment, the Fiend proved to be the reliable ones. Every Fiend immediately sprang into action, grabbing Office Worker and the others and dragging them to the back of the car.
Because Fiends had no weight, relying on the humans’ weight and the car’s own will to survive, they somehow forced the car to stop right at the edge of the cliff.
“Huff, huff… Nobody move! Don’t move!” Child Fiend commanded.
Everyone nodded frantically.
At that moment, Liu Ye, still up front, spoke.
“Don’t worry, everyone. It’s fine. This is just a minor issue. Trust me, I can handle it!”
Like hell you can handle it!!!
After that, everyone on the bus-human and Fiend alike-worked together for the first time, and with the bus Fiend’s own desperate effort, they somehow managed to drag the bus back onto the road.
“Come on, no need to be so nervous. See? Nothing happened. I told you, my driving skills are great.”
Liu Ye laughed heartily as he spoke.
“We’re the ones with great skills!!!!”
Everyone roared in unison. Then, still trembling with fear, they sank back into their seats, their faces filled with the joy of having survived a disaster.
“Um, Brother Liu… we want to get off!”
Child Fiend really couldn’t take it anymore. If he stayed on this bus any longer, he was afraid he wouldn’t live to reach the destination.
Because in the instant they had flown off the cliff, a single thought had flashed through the minds of every Fiend: they were going to die.
As long as they fell, they would be smashed to death just like humans! No, maybe even worse-they might completely disperse between heaven and earth.
So they didn’t dare stay on the bus. The other Fiends nodded frantically as well. They wanted off too.
But Liu Ye rejected them outright.
“We’re out here in the middle of nowhere. How could I let you get off? What if something happens to you?”
No. If they got off, something might happen. But on your bus, something definitely will happen!
“Relax. I told you, I’ll definitely get you where you’re going. You have to trust me!” Liu Ye said.
Office Worker and the others also looked hopefully at the Fiend.
Because at this point, Liu Ye was more dangerous than they were!
There was nothing they could do. Since Liu Ye wouldn’t let them off, they could only remain on the bus.
Fortunately, the next stretch of road was flat and straight, with no turns, so there shouldn’t be any danger.
But very soon, they realized they were wrong.
From far away, they saw a car parked on the road ahead.
Only then did Child Fiend and the others remember that there was another Fiend here too!
Back when this guy was alive, he had been a robber. He used this method to win people’s sympathy, and when someone got out of their car, he would kill them and take their valuables.
In the end, the families of his victims tied him up and pushed him, along with his car, off a cliff.
From then on, he became a Fiend, lingering on this road ever since.
If Second Brother had been driving normally, this would have been the point where the humans were asked to choose whether to stop or keep going.
But right now, Liu Ye was driving…
“Oh, looks like the person up ahead needs help.”
So Liu Ye stomped on the gas, and the bus shot forward with a whoosh.
Up ahead, Robber Fiend looked at the approaching bus, excitement surging in his heart. He could finally start again-boom!
The bus showed no sign of slowing down. It slammed straight into both the Fiend and the car.
“Brake! Hit the brake!” Office Worker and the others screamed from the back.
“I am stepping on it!” Liu Ye shouted.
“You’re stepping on the wrong damn pedal! The one next to it!” everyone roared.
“Where is it?”
Liu Ye lifted his foot and lowered his head to look.
“Look at the damn road!!!!”
Boom!
With a deafening crash, the bus, along with the tractor, smashed into the mountain beside the road.
Bang!
Liu Ye kicked the bus door open and staggered out in a sorry state.
He waved away the dust in front of his face, then shouted inside,
“Everyone should be fine, right?”
The humans and Fiends sprawled in chaos inside the bus: “…”
Where the hell did you get the nerve to ask that?
Then Liu Ye yanked the bus back out with brute force. He looked ahead and found that there had only been one car, and no one else had been hurt. Only then did he relax.
Inside the bus, the Fiends stared at Robber Fiend, who had turned into yin energy, and tears streamed uncontrollably down their faces.
That was way too terrifying!
