Chapter 7

“Big brother, don’t be sad. When I went to the bathroom just now, I saw a vehicle…”

“Hmm?”

The driver’s head snapped up. A vehicle?

“Why didn’t you say so earlier? Take me there, quickly!” the driver urged. Most of his power was tied to his car; as long as he had a vehicle, he could restore his strength. Once that happened, he’d floor the gas and get as far away from this jinx as possible!

However, Liu Ye looked a bit hesitant.

“But big brother, that vehicle… it’s a bit hard to drive.”

At those words, the driver immediately took offense.

“Who are you looking down on? I have licenses for letters A through G… all twenty-six letters. There isn’t a vehicle in this world I can’t drive!” the driver snorted.

A few minutes later…

The driver stared at the tricycle in front of him and fell into a long silence.

“A… a tricycle?”

“Yeah!” Liu Ye nodded.

“No, wait. It takes an hour to drive to the city from here. You’re telling me we’re going to ride a tricycle there?”

“Big brother, you said it yourself. You can drive anything,” Liu Ye whispered.

“Don’t give me that. If you want to go to the city, ride it yourself,” the driver snapped.

*Clack.*

Liu Ye’s Hunting Rifle fell out again.

Driver: “…”

Two hours later, the driver arrived in Huicheng with a sour face, bringing Liu Ye along.

“We’re here,”

the driver grunted.

Liu Ye hopped off the tricycle, his jaw dropping as he took in the surrounding skyscrapers.

Although he had seen what cities looked like on the village television, seeing it with his own eyes was still a massive shock. He even forgot about the light screen floating in front of him.

“It’s so big!”

In Liu Ye’s ten-plus years of limited experience, he was stunned by how such tall buildings could even be constructed.

His shocked expression and rustic attire drew the attention of passing pedestrians.

Some bored onlookers even pulled out their phones to start filming him.

Seeing the crowd grow, the driver immediately turned to leave. As a Fiend, he had to avoid appearing in crowds as much as possible, mostly because he was afraid he wouldn’t be able to restrain himself.

Wait… as a Fiend… a Fiend!

The driver clutched his face in agony. *That’s right, I’m a freaking Fiend! Why did I put so much effort into pedaling a tricycle for two hours?!*

At this point, he no longer wanted revenge; he just wanted to get as far away from this jinx Liu Ye as possible.

But as he walked, he realized something was wrong.

“Why are you still following me?! I brought you to the city, I’ve done more than enough. What else do you want?!” the driver cried out, nearing a breakdown.

“No, big brother, I have nowhere to go. Can you help me find a place to eat? I can work!” Liu Ye looked at the driver pitifully.
“Look, whether you have a place to eat has nothing to do with me! My car was blown up. Right now, I don’t even know where I’m going to find a place to eat!”

After the driver finished speaking, he secretly quickened his pace. He was a Fiend, after all; once he sped up, an ordinary person shouldn’t have been able to keep up at all.

However, Liu Ye was no ordinary person. After walking for a while, the driver glanced back only to see Liu Ye still right behind him.

The driver was driven to the brink of madness.

“What exactly do you want?! Let me go, alright? I’m begging you! This city is huge, there are so many people-can’t you just go find someone else to screw over? Why does it have to be me? Did I owe you a life in a past incarnation or something?!”

“Brother, how can you say I’m screwing you over? I feel like the two of us have been getting along great!” Liu Ye said, his eyes sparkling like stars.

The driver stared at him gloomily.

“We’ve known each other for less than three hours total. In those three hours, I first got into a car accident, then I got stabbed, then my car was blown to bits, and finally, I spent two hours pedaling a tricycle for you. And you’re telling me we’re getting along great? Oh, right, sure-for you, it’s been fantastic, hasn’t it?”

“No, brother, how can you think of me like that? I’ve always looked at you like my own flesh-and-blood older brother. Brother, just help me out!” Liu Ye said piteously.

“Say no more! I’m telling you, even if you could talk the stars out of the sky today, I’m cutting ties with you!”

*Clang!*

A Type 52 Infantry Gun dropped out.

Driver: “…”

*I can overlook the Hunting Rifle, but bringing out a Type 52 Infantry Gun is a bit much, don’t you think?! Just what kind of village did you come from? Iraq Village?*

Huicheng, located in the northeastern part of the Xia Kingdom, was a relatively developed city among the four northeastern provinces. Consequently, many migrant workers gathered within the city.

Because these people lacked money, they all lived in the suburbs on the southeast corner of the city, where housing prices were cheaper.

The environment here was harsh, with various illegal buildings jumbled together. Rats scurried through the open sewers on the ground from time to time, running through the filth in a constant search for something to eat.

However, just as they passed by a certain apartment building, they stopped instantly and then quickly turned and fled.

It was a dilapidated apartment building that looked as if it might collapse at any second.

This building was one of Huicheng’s urban legends of Terror-the Rose Apartment!

Legend had it that once you entered this place, you would never leave.

At that moment, inside Room 404 of this apartment building…

A scruffy, unshaven man was inside a room, his body wrapped in thick quilts, shivering uncontrollably.

What was startling was that it was actually snowing inside the entire room, and a thick layer of snow had already accumulated on the floor.

The air conditioner was set to an ultra-low temperature. The man’s face was covered in white frost, and his teeth were chattering incessantly.

*Ring ring ring!*

Just then, the telephone beside him suddenly rang.

He reached out a trembling arm and picked up the receiver.

“Hello, dear Mr. Lu. May I ask if you have the intention to check out? If you plan to check out, we will provide you with the best treatment.”

As the voice on the other end finished speaking, a grave appeared beside him with a noose hanging over it.

Clearly, this was the “check-out” the voice referred to.

“I… I… I’ll… f*ck your grandmother!” the man said, shivering through gritted teeth.

The person on the other end of the line didn’t get angry upon hearing this. Instead, they said with a smile, “Then that truly is a pity.”
