Chapter 21
Chapter 21
A moment later, Liu Ye emerged from the back carrying a bolt of red cloth. Looking at the fabric in his hands, he couldn’t help but marvel at it.
“This is truly excellent material!”
“Oh? What makes it so good?” Baolong asked curiously from the side.
“Look at this texture, this color, this feel…”
“Yeah, but what specifically is good about it?” Baolong pressed.
“It’s great! Just look at this texture, this color, this feel…”
“Brother, what I’m asking is-”
“Look at this texture, this color, this feel…”
Baolong: “…”
“Brother, do you actually have no idea what makes it good?”
“Did you really have to say it out loud?” Liu Ye shot him a sidelong glare.
Baolong immediately shut his mouth.
The First Lady looked at the fabric in Liu Ye’s hands, her face etched with heartache. That was material she had prepared for herself!
“Sir, I hope you make this garment well. Do not let such fine material go to waste.”
“Don’t you worry about that,” Liu Ye said solemnly.
“Brother, do you even know how to make a wedding dress?” Baolong couldn’t help but ask.
“Don’t be ridiculous. I made my mother’s wedding dress myself,” Liu Ye snorted.
Baolong: “???”
Something felt very wrong about that statement.
As soon as he finished speaking, Liu Ye picked up a pair of scissors nearby and gave them a flashy spin in his hand. Then, he grabbed the cloth with one hand and tossed it upward. With a sharp *whoosh*, the fabric unfurled in the air like the evening clouds at the edge of the sky-a truly beautiful sight.
Baolong was startled. Regardless of anything else, based on this move alone, the guy actually looked somewhat reliable!
Next, Liu Ye’s hands moved like swimming dragons, tumbling up and down. Accompanied by the rhythmic *snip-snip* of the blades, the cloth was cut to shape in an instant.
Then, Liu Ye pulled out an Embroidery Needle from his bundle. It flew back and forth in his grip.
Golden silk threads wove through the air before everyone’s eyes, a dazzling display that left them dizzy.
Under everyone’s shocked gazes, a garment appeared before them in less than an hour.
This outfit discarded the cumbersome lower half of a typical wedding dress, adopting an innovative short-jacket style.
The wide cuffs allowed the arms to move freely. Golden threads were used to embroider clusters of blooming flowers that intertwined with one another, showcasing the beauty of spring.
“Well? What do you think!” Liu Ye said proudly.
The crowd: “…”
“Brother…” Baolong’s voice trembled slightly. “If I’m not mistaken, doesn’t this wedding dress have a common name? Isn’t it just a cotton-padded jacket?”
“Oh? You’re quite the expert, aren’t you?” Liu Ye said in surprise.
“Of course I am. My mom still pulls hers out to wear every winter,” Baolong said, speechless.
Over on the other side, the First Lady saw her precious material ruined like this. She couldn’t catch her breath, her eyes rolled back, and she fainted dead away.
“Oh my, why did she suddenly faint?” Liu Ye asked, bewildered.
Baolong: “…”
*Do you really have no clue why she fainted?*
Now that the Wedding Gown was finished, Liu Ye took it back to the Bride. Looking at the garment in Liu Ye’s hands, the Bride felt an intense internal resistance.
However, under Liu Ye’s expectant gaze, she didn’t dare refuse. Ultimately, she put it on.
When she was wearing her original patched clothes, one could still tell she was a bride. But after putting on the Wedding Gown Liu Ye made, she instantly transformed into a genuine village auntie from the Northeast.
From the side, Wang Weiwei thought she could see a single tear of blood rolling down the corner of the Bride’s eye.
The most infuriating part was that Liu Ye was actually over there clapping his hands.
“Look at how beautiful this is! Seriously, your Zhang Family owes me a massive red envelope for this!”
Baolong: “…”
*Right… so we’re just moving straight to robbery now, are we?*
Suddenly, the sound of a bell rang out.
The front of the house abruptly became lively. The First Lady’s expression turned solemn.
“The wedding is beginning!”
Liu Ye and Baolong headed toward the main hall. Wang Weiwei accompanied the Bride back to the room first.
By now, the hall was filled with people… or rather, Fiends.
They sat together with hideous faces and twisted bodies, chatting and laughing with one another.
These Fiends were all outsiders, and the Yin energy radiating from them was terrifyingly immense!
When Liu Ye and his group arrived, every single one of them turned to stare.
To be more precise, they were staring at Baolong and Wang Weiwei.
The two felt their scalps tingle instantly. They couldn’t help but huddle closer to Liu Ye, who, on the other hand, was waving excitedly at the others.
“Hey everyone, you’re all here! Eat well, drink well!”
As he spoke, he caught sight of someone out of the corner of his eye and immediately grew even more excited.
“Big Brother!”
The driver was covering his face, trying his best to remain inconspicuous, but Liu Ye recognized him at a single glance.
The driver never imagined that in the brief time he’d stepped out to attend a wedding feast, he would run into this guy.
“Big Brother, what are you doing here?”
Liu Ye sat down excitedly next to the driver.
“I… I’m a… relative of the Bride…”
“A guest from the maternal side? Oh, then she’s our sister! We’re family! Brother, let me tell you, don’t you worry-I’ve fixed our sister up real good!”
Driver: “…”
Baolong sat down cautiously beside Liu Ye. He hadn’t expected Liu Ye to actually know these Fiends, and it seemed they were on good terms, too. This was truly a display of great social reach.
At that moment, John and his two companions also arrived, finding random spots to sit down.
When John saw Wang Weiwei, a look of surprise crossed his face, but he soon seemed to realize something, and a glimmer of understanding flashed in his eyes.
Xiaoshuai and the Worker sat together. They also saw Wang Weiwei. Xiaoshuai’s eyes narrowed, while the Worker-perhaps due to something he had encountered-seemed completely off. He looked as though he had just suffered through a major illness.
Seated right in the center were the First Lady and the previously unseen Zhang Family Master.
He was a tall, thin old man who looked no different from an ordinary person. He sat there with an air of authority, staring straight ahead.
Steward Wang stood beside him. He glanced at the moon in the sky and then shouted at the top of his lungs.
“The auspicious hour has arrived! Bring forth the newlyweds!”
The sound of musical instruments immediately filled the air. They were indeed playing festive tunes, but against the backdrop of their surroundings, the music felt exceptionally eerie.
Before long, the Bride was seen entering from outside, her hands tucked into her sleeves.
“The Bride…”
Steward Wang was about to continue his recitation, but when he saw the Bride in this state, he suddenly choked on his words.
“The Bride… the… the…”
Steward Wang was momentarily at a loss for words. Nearby, Xiaoshuai and John were also shocked. This was the Bride?
Standing beside the Bride, Wang Weiwei was visibly panicked. She frantically shot looks at Liu Ye and Baolong, seemingly trying to convey something.
Baolong immediately noticed Wang Weiwei’s abnormal behavior. He tried to slip over to her, only to find that his body wouldn’t move.
After a brief moment of daze, Steward Wang instantly recovered and continued his shouting.
“The auspicious hour has arrived! First kowtow to Heaven and Earth!”
Once Steward Wang finished his shout, he was seen stepping forward while holding a rooster, taking the place of the groom.
At this time, the Bride also stood stiffly in her position. The two of them slowly bowed down toward Heaven and Earth.
At that exact moment, the moon in the sky turned a vivid red, appearing much larger than usual.
It looked like a giant eye, peering down at them.
In an instant, John and the others felt a sense of immense Terror about to descend.
“Second kowtow to the parents!”
The Bride and Steward Wang bowed toward the First Lady and Lord Zhang on the dais.
Beside the Bride, Wang Weiwei was deathly panicked. They couldn’t keep bowing. If they finished the ceremony, everyone would die.
Thinking of what the Bride had told her before they arrived, she was consumed by anxiety. Yet, she couldn’t move an inch, and she couldn’t even open her mouth to speak.
“Husband and wife, kowtow to each other!”
This final cry was incredibly somber, sounding like a cracked bronze gong.
Wang Weiwei was fraught with tension. Just as she was falling into despair, the necklace around her neck suddenly flickered.
The Bride and Steward Wang slowly bent their waists. At the very moment they were about to bow…
A voice suddenly roared out.
“You can’t kowtow!”
