The couple froze. Why was he crying while eating?

“Ah, then eat more,” the woman hurriedly said.
Liu Ye didn’t stand on ceremony and started eating heartily.
The couple exchanged a look, both of them smiling with hidden meaning.

The middle-aged man pulled the woman aside and asked in a low voice, “Did you put the drug in there?”
“I did! I was afraid he wouldn’t eat enough, so I put in at least half the bottle,” the woman said, swallowing nervously.
“Then why isn’t he out yet?”
“How would I know?”
“Auntie, do you have any more? Can I have some more?” Liu Ye shouted.
“Ah! Yes!” the woman answered quickly.
“In that case, the kid might have built up a tolerance. Put more of that stuff in there,” the middle-aged man said.
“Will this really work? Don’t go killing him. He won’t be worth anything dead,” the woman said worriedly.
“It’ll be fine. Just do as I say. Go on!” the middle-aged man urged.
The woman had no choice but to add the drug to the food. This time, she dumped in three whole bottles.
After they brought it up for Liu Ye to eat, Liu Ye’s eyes immediately went wide.
“Auntie, this tastes way better now! Much better than the last batch. Auntie, your cooking is amazing!”

No, seriously, had this kid grown up eating sleeping pills? This was enough to knock out an elephant.
Another hour passed, and the couple’s jaws were practically on the floor.
