Chapter 74
Chapter 74
During morning self-study, they gathered together again.
“Sun Hui and Xiao Long died horribly last night,” Yellow Hair said with a sigh.
“I disagreed with you doing this from the start. Since he dared to sleep right beside us, he obviously had something to rely on.”
“It’s too late to say that now. We should focus on what to do next,” the Fiend said gloomily.
“It’s fine. Don’t we still have the other Wonders?” Yellow Hair said.
Their school had Seven Wonders in total: the Delicious Cafeteria, the Beautiful Woman, the Wishing Statue, the Demon Classroom, the Desperate Boy, the Ghost Doll, and the Plastic Mannequin in the Infirmary.
These seven were horror legends that had spread far and wide through their school. For some of them, even they had only heard a few scraps of information.
But one thing was certain: all seven Wonders were extremely dangerous. Whether human or Fiend, anyone who came into contact with them had never survived.
“That Pig-Head is his relative, so there’s nothing we can do about that. Count him lucky. But the others are different.”
At that moment, Yellow Hair’s heart was filled with resentment. Of course, it wasn’t directed at Liu Ye, but at one of the Wonders.
He was certain their deaths had been caused by that Demon Classroom!
So he wanted to use Liu Ye to deal with that Wonder.
If Liu Ye won, it would count as avenging him. If he lost, they would lose nothing.
Although he was grateful that Liu Ye had saved him before, he really couldn’t stand the guy anymore. Besides, he was a Fiend to begin with, irreconcilable with humans. If the other party died, it couldn’t be blamed on him.
“Then which one should we have him touch?”
“The Wishing Statue. I know about that thing.”
Aside from the Demon Classroom, he knew information about two Wonders in total. One was the Delicious Cafeteria, and the other was the Wishing Statue.
That thing was also extremely sinister. It would grant people’s wishes, but the way it granted them was not what people hoped for. It would make them pay an unbearably painful price. More often than not, that price was their life.
Although Yellow Hair wanted Liu Ye to avenge him directly, he didn’t know where the Demon Classroom was right now.
So he planned to go through them one by one. In any case, none of those Wonders were anything good.
Just as they finished discussing it, Liu Ye walked in.
“Teacher, there’s something we want to tell you…”
Legend had it that in an old warehouse at Huicheng High School, there was a magical Statue that could help people realize the wishes in their hearts! It was just that… the process was not nearly as wonderful as one might imagine.
A girl stumbled toward a warehouse. Her shoulder was injured, and she shoved the door open with all her strength, seeing a Statue sitting in the corner.
“You lied to me! You lied to me! This isn’t the love I wanted!”
The girl screamed and rushed over, lifting the Statue and smashing it down onto the floor.
But when the Statue hit the ground, nothing happened to it at all. It remained perfectly intact.
Furious, the girl grabbed a stick nearby and was about to strike the Statue with it.
But the moment she raised it, a sharp pain exploded through her head. Her whole body collapsed to the floor.
A very handsome boy stood behind her, but his face was now horribly twisted, and he was holding a stick in his hand.
“Darling, why did you run? I love you so much! Why did you leave me? Why?!”
The girl on the ground tried to get up, but there wasn’t a trace of strength left in her body.
It wasn’t supposed to be like this… It shouldn’t have been like this…
The girl’s tears spilled onto the floor.
Back then, she had liked the boy behind her so much that she had even reached the point where she could neither eat nor sleep because of him.
Later, she heard from her best friend that there was a miraculous Statue at school that could grant any wish. So she secretly ran over and wished for that boy to fall in love with her.
And the Statue really was miraculous. It actually granted her wish. The very next day, the boy confessed to her!
She was over the moon, thinking she was about to begin a sweet, romantic relationship. But things did not turn out the way she imagined.
The boy did like her. He just liked her a little too much.
If another boy so much as glanced at her, he would try to gouge out the other boy’s eyes. One day, when she came home, she even saw him disposing of a large bag, and blood was leaking out of it.
She was scared out of her wits. After that, she wanted to break up with him, but instead, he imprisoned her.
She used every method she could think of before she finally escaped.
“Darling, don’t worry. From now on, we’ll be together forever!”
The boy came to the girl’s side and picked her up. Just as he was about to stand, a sharp pain tore through his chest.
He looked down and found a sharp knife buried in his chest.
“Go to hell!”
The girl screamed viciously.
“Dar… ling…”
The boy collapsed to the ground. The girl raised and brought down the knife again and again.
Only when she had no strength left did she finally stop.
Then she looked at the Statue. She wanted to get rid of the true culprit behind all of this.
But the moment she turned around, her body was embraced from behind.
“Darling… where are you going?”
“Aaaah!!!!”
…
“Teacher, hurry up! We’re almost there!” Yellow Hair shouted.
“Seriously? You guys still believe in feudal superstition like this? You’re high school students. Don’t waste your energy on this stuff. Praying at the last minute isn’t going to get you many extra points. If you have that much time, you’d be better off doing a few more practice problems,” Liu Ye said, speechless.
“Come on, Teacher. It’s not like it costs money. No harm in trying, right?” another Fiend said with an ingratiating smile.
Liu Ye had no choice but to humor them. After all, he was a kind and approachable teacher.
But when they arrived and Liu Ye saw the Statue, he could not help letting out a soft sound of surprise.
“This Statue looks really familiar.”
The Fiend students: “…”
Don’t tell us it’s one of your relatives again?
And they did not know if it was just their imagination, but they kept feeling like the Statue was trembling slightly.
Liu Ye stared at the Statue and fell into thought. A moment later, he suddenly remembered where he had seen the thing before.
Back when he went to Liuxi Village for the banquet, wasn’t this the Statue in Steward Wang’s room?
He remembered that at the time, he had accidentally broken the Statue. Luckily, there had been a wild boar nearby, so he could pin the blame on it.
Of course, since no one asked, he never said anything.
At that moment, against his chest, the Pendant that housed Steward Wang was flashing wildly.
“Teacher, let’s hurry up and make a wish!”
“Yeah, yeah, Teacher, let’s try making a wish. What if it really works?” the students urged him.
What they did not see was that the Statue was shaking even harder.
“Fine, fine, fine. You lot really are impossible.”
Liu Ye walked up to the Statue and was just about to speak when he saw the Statue holding up a sign. A few lines of text had appeared on it, complete with pinyin.
Liu Ye leaned closer and read with difficulty.
“I am just an ordinary Statue. I have no other functions. Please believe in science and oppose superstition. Go straight ahead for the exit. Turn right for the restroom…”
