Chapter 87
Chapter 87
Let us turn the clock back a little. While Liu Ye and the others were dealing with the Suit Fiend, Xiaoshuai and John led their people to the academy’s principal’s office.
After pushing the door open, they saw a fat man sitting in the chair.
“Who are you people? How did you get in here? Where are the guards?” the fat man barked furiously.
“Hao Ren, right? We’re with the Fiend Investigation Bureau. You should have heard of us. We need your cooperation on a matter,” John said, taking out his ID.
Hao Ren’s expression instantly turned unnatural. Sweat poured down his flabby face, and he kept wiping it with a handkerchief.
“I… I need to call the board.”
As he spoke, he reached for his phone. Just as he was about to dial, a flash of silver cut across his vision.
He looked down and saw a dagger stabbed into his phone.
“Sorry, but you can’t contact anyone right now. Please cooperate,” John said with a smile.
“You have no right to detain me! I’ll file a complaint against you, see if I don’t!” Hao Ren shouted anxiously.
“Mr. Hao Ren, I think you may have misunderstood something.” John still had a smile on his face. But in the next second, a slap landed squarely across Hao Ren’s cheek.
Hao Ren clutched his face and stared at John in shock.
John’s face was expressionless, but his eyes were filled with vicious coldness.
“We aren’t negotiating with you. We’re informing you. And frankly, we’re hoping you’ll resist, because then we’ll have a reason to get rough.”
Xiaoshuai came over from the side at just the right moment, putting on a pair of gloves.
“Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Xu Fei, and I am a traitor to the Illuminati!”
Xiaoshuai declared it with his head held high and his chest puffed out.
Hao Ren: “…”
What the hell are you so proud of? You’re a traitor!
But the moment he saw Xiaoshuai, Hao Ren’s mental defenses collapsed. After all, he knew exactly what the Illuminati was capable of.
“What do you want?”
“Where is the factory?” Xiaoshuai asked.
“I don’t know. That Fiend manages the factory’s location. I’m only in charge of the school’s day-to-day operations,” Hao Ren answered honestly.
No sooner had he finished speaking than one zone after another appeared beneath their feet. Then the surroundings around them began to shift in an instant.
Xiaoshuai and John did their best to steady themselves. Once they regained their footing, they realized they were now standing inside an enormous factory.
All kinds of machines were running automatically. Thick pipes hung down from above, writhing as they continuously poured something into one of the machines.
Then, from another port on the machine, small bottles came out one after another.
And those little bottles were the very same “Desire” reagent Xiaoshuai had once used.
“Brother Liu has made his move over there. We need to hurry too,” Xiaoshuai said.
John: “…”
This guy is so annoying. He stole my line!
It wasn’t that they were worried Liu Ye was in danger. They were worried Liu Ye would finish things too quickly. After all, they had their own objective this time.
According to Xiaoshuai’s investigation, what this place did was forcibly draw out people’s desires.
The Pig-Head Chef drew out people’s desire for delicious food.
The Wishing Statue drew out people’s desire for all the things they could never obtain.
The Ghost Doll drew out people’s jealous desires.
Jiang Yuan drew out people’s emotional desires.
The Headless Mannequin was rather special. It was used to process the corpses of those who had already died. According to the tests on the fragments they brought back, the thing was made from human bones. And precisely because it had once been human, it had an especially strong craving for heads. It wanted to become human again.
As for the final mystery, the Demon Classroom, it was that Fiend’s bizarre testing ground. Through intense pressure and fear, it selected the people with the toughest minds, then plunged them into the deepest despair. After injecting them with the drug, it successfully turned them into Fiends.
Ghost Doll and Jiang Yuan were both victims of this experiment. Over the past thirty-some years, who knew how many people had been made into Fiends?
Although the experiment was inhumane, the higher-ups believed there was something in it that could be useful. That was why they had sent them here, to collect the data.
But before they could act, Miss Zhang suddenly sounded the alarm.
“Careful! A Fiend is coming!”
The moment she finished speaking, a thick tongue instantly wrapped around one team member’s neck. The man did not even get the chance to scream before he was yanked upward.
“Crack! Crack!”
Everyone looked up and saw an enormous “Spider” standing on the ceiling.
The Spider’s entire body was made of human heads. The eyes on those heads kept darting up, down, left, and right, while the eight legs around it were human arms.
“Heh heh heh. Thanks for luring that guy away. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have been able to get in here.”
The Spider casually spat, ejecting an eyeball. Then every eye on its body turned toward Xiaoshuai.
“Heh heh heh. I didn’t expect them to send you out. Talk about getting what I wanted without any effort at all. Heh heh heh.”
Xiaoshuai’s expression turned grim. The other party was clearly here for him.
He immediately took out a dagger. It was not meant to fight the enemy, but to end himself. He had the Substitute Scarecrow, which could revive him back at the Illuminati, but if he fell into the enemy’s hands, that would be a completely different story.
Unfortunately, the Spider saw through his intentions. With a sinister chuckle, the eyes all over its body instantly lit up with waves of green light.
In that instant, everyone lost the ability to move.
Even Miss Zhang was immobilized.
“Well then, time to dig in!”
The Spider jumped down from the ceiling. The second it landed, there was a sharp click.
“Hm?”
The Spider looked down and found that it had stepped on something with a geometric shape and elegant lines.
When John saw what it had stepped on, he immediately recognized it. Then, just as quickly, he connected it to Liu Ye. Remembering the power of that cannon back in Liuxi Village, he hurriedly shouted,
“Bro, don’t move!”
“Huh?”
The Spider instinctively lifted its foot.
John: “…”
Xiaoshuai: “…”
It’s over!
Boom!
The land mine exploded instantly, setting off the surrounding machinery and the other mines hidden nearby. And at that exact moment, the Suit Fiend’s Fiend Domain happened to disappear, so…
Boom, boom, boom…
Countless explosions rang out, and the school was instantly reduced to ruins.
Under such a blast, the Spider somehow still had one head left, though it was barely breathing.
At that moment, it had only one thought: Why would a perfectly normal school have land mines?
Then, filled with grief and indignation, it departed this world.
As for why there were land mines in the factory, it was because during the exam, the ones Yellow Hair and the others had triggered were only a very small portion of them.
Liu Ye had turned around and completely forgotten about the rest. Then the Suit Fiend’s Fiend Domain had redistributed every area, and so some of the mines had ended up beneath the factory.
