Chapter 94

“Qingsen Nursing Home is here!”

They had arrived at another stop. This time, though, the bus came to a rather poor halt, nearly running over the people waiting there.

“How the hell are you driving? Believe me, I’ll eat you!”

An old man boarded the bus with a cane. This old man was also a high-level Fiend.

He had thought that by the time the bus reached his stop, there would be nothing left for him. But the moment he got on, he discovered there were actually still nine people!

The old man was stunned. Were all the Fiends before him that polite?

He looked inside and saw that they were all clutching their heads, faces twisted in agony, as if they had been tortured by something. Even the driver was slumped over the steering wheel, holding his head.

Only one young man looked perfectly lively, still taking care of the people beside him.

“Goodness, why are all of you getting carsick? And on a long-distance trip too-you should’ve brought something with you. Good thing I packed plenty. Come on, have some water!”

The Fiends: “…”

“Young man, may I sit here?”

The old man came over to Liu Ye with a beaming smile. Compared with those wilted, half-dead ones, of course he preferred this energetic one.

“Uh, Old Man, why don’t you sit in my seat instead?” the Child Fiend suddenly said.

He knew the old man too, and no matter what, he couldn’t just watch him jump into a fire pit. Right now, Liu Ye’s demonic noise brainwashing had tortured them until their heads felt like they were splitting. They couldn’t even move. He didn’t want this guy to end up as unlucky as they were.

But the old man misunderstood. Seeing the Child Fiend sitting in the back, he thought the kid was trying to fight him for the seat. In his heart, he thought, You think I’m going to let you have this?

“No need, child. I like sitting here.”

With that, he sat down with Liu Ye’s help.

The Child Fiend was so angry he could scream. Truly, you couldn’t talk a doomed Fiend out of dying!

After Liu Ye sat back down, however, he noticed a hole in the old man’s shoe, with his toes poking out. Sympathy rose in him at once. This Old Man must have it hard at home too. If he could help, he should.

So he said, “Old Master, I see your shoe is torn. How about I patch it up for you?”

When the old man heard that, he thought this young fellow had quite a good heart. People like that tasted even better. He decided that in a moment, he would torture him a little longer before letting him die.

“All right! Then thank you, young man.”

“No need to thank me. It’s nothing.” As he spoke, Liu Ye took tools out of his bundle and began mending the Old Man’s shoe.

Before long, he had patched up the hole.

“Old Master, all done. Try it on!”

As he spoke, he took the shoe and put it on the old man.

While putting it on, the Old Man looked smugly at the Child Fiend, thinking, Just watch how I deal with him, him, him-aaah!!!

The Old Man let out a howl and sprang straight up, only for Liu Ye to press him back down in one move.

“Old Man, don’t move. It’ll be on in just a second.”

At this point, the Old Man could barely speak. The cloth shoe on his foot, which had originally been stained with blood, was now radiating golden light. Worn on the Old Man’s foot, it was like having a red-hot iron shoe from the Middle Ages clamped onto him.

“Aaaah!!!!”

“Goodness, Old Master, what a voice! Nine twists and eighteen turns. I know-you must be singing Peking opera!”

Liu Ye thought the Old Master must be extremely satisfied, which was why he was performing a bit of Peking opera to express his feelings.

No. What he was singing was pure terror.

The Child Fiend silently said this in his heart. He understood that feeling far too well.

Trembling, the old man picked up his cane, wanting to beat Liu Ye to death with it, but Liu Ye grabbed it in one hand.

“Oh, Old Man, you’re too kind. It was just a little thing. You don’t have to give me a gift!”
Liu Ye took the cane and said something.

Escort you, my ass!

The old man cursed inwardly.

He could barely get a word out now. Trembling, he pointed at his own foot.

“Old Master, feels better, right? Let me tell you, my craftsmanship is top-notch. Back in my village, I was one of the best cobblers around. Everybody in the village brought their shoes to me for repairs.”

Is that what I was trying to say?! I want you to get the shoe off me! But the pain was so bad he couldn’t even speak.

Forcing himself through the agony, the old man shakily reached for his wrist. There lay the strange Fiend object he had spent his entire life creating.

He had poured a lifetime’s worth of skill into it. Ever since he made it, he had never once used it. Today, it seemed, it would finally draw blood!

He swiftly reached over and felt around-only to grab nothing.

The old man froze, then looked down in disbelief. Where were the Beads on his wrist? All that remained was a single thread.

And of all times, Liu Ye just had to say,

“Oh, Old Master, it’s your zodiac year, huh? Even wearing a red string.”

“Red string my ****! Where are my Beads?!”

The old man howled, too furious to care about the pain.

The Child Fiend had seen everything clearly from the side. When Liu Ye had helped the old man just now, his hand had brushed against that string of Beads once. Just that one touch, and the Beads had turned to powder.

But could he say that? No. What if Liu Ye got irritated and killed him? So he could only sit there obediently in his seat.

“Old Master, don’t panic just yet,” Liu Ye hurriedly comforted him when he saw the old man’s face turning red.

“How can I not panic?! That was my life’s work! My Beads!” Tears streamed down the old man’s face.

The moment he said that, the jade pendant on Liu Ye’s chest began flashing wildly.

Liu Ye immediately stood up, gnawing on a piece of sugarcane as he addressed everyone around him.

“Listen up. Someone here has sticky fingers. I already know who you are. I’m giving you one chance to step forward on your own. Don’t make me drag you out. I’m saving you some face here. That was the Old Master’s lifelong work, even if those busted Beads weren’t worth much.”

“They were worth a lot!”

The old man roared in fury.

Liu Ye pursed his lips.

“Old Master, now you’re not cooperating.”

“Cooperate with your grandmother’s mouth! I-give me back my cane!”

“Cane? What cane? When did you ever give me a cane?” Liu Ye asked strangely while chewing on the sugarcane.

“The one you snatched just now!” the old man said anxiously.

“Old Master, you can’t just say things like that. When did I ever snatch your cane?” Liu Ye said, looking deeply wronged.

“You did snatch it! Give me back my cane!” The old man’s voice was already trembling with tears.

“No, Old Master, I really don’t know what you’re talking about. You never gave me any cane.” Liu Ye was getting anxious too. You couldn’t just falsely accuse people like this!

At that moment, the Child Fiend behind him whispered,

“Um, big brother, is it possible… it’s the sugarcane you’re eating?”

“The sugarcane I’m eat-” Liu Ye lifted the sugarcane in his hand and took a closer look. Wasn’t it exactly the cane? Now only the handle was left.

“No, Old Master, why would you hand me your cane for no reason? I thought it was sugarcane. Look what a mess this turned into.”

Did I hand it to you? Weren’t you the one who snatched it?!

The old man stared at the cane that had been gnawed down to nothing but a handle. That was his bonded Fiendish Item! Hit by such a massive shock all at once, he couldn’t take it. His eyes rolled back, and he fainted.

“Old Master!”

Liu Ye tossed the cane handle aside and hurriedly caught the old man in his arms.
