The director then gave him a rough rundown of the situation.

As it turned out, this was a long-running show with consistently high ratings. Its main gimmick was inviting guests on for a full livestream and then using sudden incidents to test their ability to react on the spot.

The show pushed the envelope pretty hard, so the guests they usually invited were minor celebrities who either desperately wanted to get famous or had already fallen out of the spotlight. Even if something really did happen, it would be easy enough to smooth over.

This time, however, things were different. Who knew what kind of wind had blown from above, but the higher-ups insisted on arranging for several major stars to take part. Most importantly, those stars had actually lost their minds and agreed.
