Chapter 69
Chapter 69
“So basically, you’re all from the same village?” Liu Ye said, speechless.
“Uh, yeah. We grew up going to school together. All our parents went out of town for work, so even getting this many of us together was a stretch,” Yellow Hair explained.
It really had been a stretch. One more and they wouldn’t have been able to bring everyone along. The man who had led the way for them earlier had been scared to death by them-literally. Wasn’t that just ridiculous? They hadn’t even done anything. They had only asked him to help with something, and he went and scared himself to death. His mental fortitude had been way too weak.
The moment Liu Ye heard the words “out of town for work,” something in his heart was struck. Right. Everyone had it hard.
He sat down right beside Xiaoshuai, scaring Xiaoshuai so badly he nearly fainted. Luckily, Frog was next to him and gave him a hand, stopping him from collapsing.
“Brother Fei, since we know each other, I won’t waste time with pointless talk.”
So he was getting straight to the point. Xiaoshuai pinched his own thigh hard, forcing himself to stay calm.
“Do you realize how serious the problem is right now?”
Liu Ye spoke earnestly and with great gravity.
“I know! I know!”
How could he not know how serious this was? They had killed a Fiend someone had raised so well. Of course he would be angry.
“But this really wasn’t my fault. I told them at the time not to do it, over and over. They were the ones who insisted.”
He had warned them back then not to provoke him, but those idiots in the organization had gotten so obsessed with making money that their brains had stopped working. They insisted on revenge, only to get beaten half to death and drag him into this mess too.
“Yes, I know this isn’t your fault. But you still bear some responsibility. Didn’t you end up doing the same thing they did? You set a very bad example for them.”
You couldn’t just ignore children for the sake of making money. This Xu Fei was a big celebrity, and yet he had ended up behind bars for tax evasion. What were the kids supposed to think? How much psychological damage would that cause them?
Because the students were all standing nearby, Liu Ye wanted to leave Xu Fei and the others some dignity, so there were certain things he felt too embarrassed to spell out in detail.
“Yes, yes, I know. It’s all my fault. All my fault.”
It was true. If he hadn’t stupidly gone and tugged on the tiger’s whiskers back then, would any of this have happened today? He accepted the blame.
“That’s why, once we know our mistakes, we correct them. Then we’re still good comrades, right? I’m telling you, you have to strengthen their studies, understand?”
“Studies?” Xiaoshuai froze for a second, then immediately reacted.
He was hinting at him. He must know the identity of the people around him, so he couldn’t say it outright.
He wanted Xiaoshuai to develop moles inside the Illuminati! To work hard and make progress!
Wait a second! In that case, didn’t that make him one of Liu Ye’s people now?
Xiaoshuai instantly straightened his back.
After all, Liu Ye’s strength was anything but ordinary. Just one Fiend of his had wiped out half the Illuminati’s forces, and his own power was even more unfathomable. Becoming his underling wasn’t a bad deal at all.
“Brother Liu, I understand. From now on, just watch how I perform,” Xiaoshuai said excitedly.
“Don’t call me Brother Liu. Just call me Teacher Liu!”
This unhealthy social habit of casually calling everyone your brother could not be displayed in front of the children. He was someone who intended to dominate Huicheng High School.
When Xiaoshuai heard that, he understood. He still wasn’t qualified yet.
So he immediately offered up his pledge of loyalty.
“Teacher Liu, these are all the addresses of our Huicheng organization,” Xiaoshuai said attentively.
Marked on it were the funds, head counts, key members, and so on for each faction.
“Organization?”
Confused, Liu Ye took the map and studied it carefully… Mm, very good. He couldn’t understand it. But he could understand the money symbols and some of the numbers on it.
It dawned on him at once. These had to be all the recruiting departments from the various companies in Huicheng!
Their assets, key executives-everything was listed. Wouldn’t finding a job be so much easier from now on?
He had to admit, Xiaoshuai really was thoughtful.
“Thank you,” Liu Ye said sincerely.
“It’s nothing. This is what I should be doing,” Xiaoshuai said excitedly.
He knew he had made the right move. How could someone as ambitious as Liu Ye not like a gift like this?
Just as he was about to say something else, a burst of noise suddenly came from behind them.
The group turned around and saw that those Fiends had started arguing.
Of course, this was hardly a big deal. They were all Fiends, and after being stuck here together for more than thirty years, their minds had long since gone abnormal. It would have been stranger if they didn’t argue.
But Liu Ye didn’t know that. The sight of them fighting filled his heart with pain.
He immediately strode over and yanked the two Fiends apart.
Whoosh!
Smack!
The two Fiends slammed into the wall. They burst apart, black blood splattering across the surface like a painting, possessing a strange beauty all its own.
The Fiend instantly fell silent. Some of the more timid ones were so scared they started crying.
“What are you doing?! You’re all classmates! What problem can’t be solved by sitting down and talking it out? Did you really have to get physical?”
We didn’t get physical! You’re the one who got physical, okay?!
“Wait, why are there two missing again? Where are the two who were making the biggest fuss just now? Why can’t I see them? Too ashamed to face me?” Liu Ye asked, puzzled.
Ashamed? They didn’t even have souls left! Several of the Fiend covered their mouths, not daring to let themselves sob out loud, terrified of provoking this bastard again.
When Liu Ye saw that they were all crying, his heart softened. It seemed the children knew they were wrong.
“Everyone, there’s no need to feel sorry toward me. Your teacher is a magnanimous person. A kind person. I won’t get angry at you over a tiny little thing like this.”
The Fiend: “…”
“However, as your teacher, I still have to say a few words. You’re all classmates, so you can’t start fighting over every little thing. We need to live in… in… nuclear coexistence!”
“Teacher… did you mean peaceful coexistence?” Yellow Hair asked cautiously.
“Ah, right, that’s what I meant. Think about it. It wasn’t easy for all of you to gather here, and who knows how much longer you’ll have to spend together in the future? Don’t damage your relationship over one little thing. All right, I won’t lecture you today. Go back and study properly. Don’t forget tomorrow’s exam.”
The moment he said that, every Fiend’s face turned green. They had forgotten about that! Two of them had died just from an argument. If they failed the exam, wouldn’t that turn into a full-on massacre?
So they hurried out to borrow notes from people they knew.
Fortunately, when they had nothing to do, they would also transform into human forms and interact with others. Otherwise, tomorrow really might have been the day they died there.
Yellow Hair decided to first look for someone he knew.
Huicheng High School was enormous, divided into four campuses: east, south, west, and north. Their class was in the North Campus, which was also the abandoned campus. As for the exact reason it had been abandoned, he couldn’t remember, but his hazy memories suggested that the campus might have been abandoned because of them.
As for the East Campus, South Campus, and West Campus, they were respectively the campus for rich kids, the campus for students with good grades, and finally, the campus for students with poor grades who also didn’t have much money.
Yellow Hair’s target was the West Campus.
