Chapter 26
Chapter 26
“What did you do this time?!” the driver cried in despair.
“No, seriously, I didn’t do anything this time. I just changed a light bulb for Granny. I even cooked for her, right, ma’am… Huh? Where’d she go?”
The three Fiends looked at the pot in Liu Ye’s hands and couldn’t help shuddering. He couldn’t have stewed Rat Granny, could he?
After all, this little bastard had a record.
Liu Ye picked up the blanket and looked toward the sofa, only to see a pile of ash sitting there.
The moment the three Fiends saw it, they knew Rat Granny was gone.
“Man, Granny’s place is way too filthy. She doesn’t even clean up.”
Liu Ye swept the ash straight into the trash can. The driver had just reacted and was about to stop him when he saw Liu Ye dump the ash into the toilet and flush it away.
The three Fiends: “…”
So there really wasn’t even a body left.
Liu Ye sat down on the sofa and said to the three Fiends, “Come eat with me. Granny probably went out to buy a light bulb. She should be back soon.”
The three Fiends: “…”
Granny was not coming back.
“By the way, what did you make? It smells pretty good,” the driver asked, sniffing.
Liu Ye lifted the lid and said excitedly, “Three Squeaks!”
The three Fiends: “!!!”
That evening, the three Fiends gathered together, cigarettes dangling from their mouths.
“Sigh…”
The three Fiends sighed in perfect unison, then looked miserably at the center of the table, where Rat Granny’s memorial photo had been placed.
“You could’ve just stayed put and minded your own business. Why’d you have to mess with him? Great. Now we really ended up using the portrait.”
The driver lit three cigarettes and stuck them in front of Rat Granny’s photo.
“Rat Granny died such a miserable death… I can’t even imagine what kind of torture she suffered before she died.” The Shadow Fiend’s body was trembling.
“Building Manager, this can’t go on. I don’t think we can outlast that kid.”
“Don’t rush. I’ve already got a plan.” The Old Man took a drag from his cigarette, his gaze turning profound.
“Oh? What plan?” the driver and the Shadow Fiend asked, leaning in excitedly.
“Since we can’t handle him ourselves, we’ll find someone who can.”
“We’re bringing in someone else again? Isn’t that a little… wrong?” the driver said uneasily. After all, he had already screwed over two of them.
The Old Man and the Shadow Fiend looked at him darkly. The driver immediately lowered his head and started smoking fast.
“Hmph. Don’t worry. This time, the one I call will definitely be able to handle him!”
The Old Man snorted, then picked up the phone and quickly dialed a number.
The phone rang a few times before it was answered. Then, under the expectant gazes of the driver and the Shadow Fiend, the Old Man slowly said, “Hello, is this the police? I want to report a crime!”
“Holy crap!”
The driver and the Shadow Fiend instantly collapsed.
…
Half an hour later, Liu Ye looked gloomily at the Old Man and the other Fiends. The driver and the others looked just as gloomy as they stared back at him. There was nothing they could do. The kid had a contract in his hands. Even when the police came, all they could do was mediate the situation. They couldn’t drive him away at all.
“Old Man, I thought we were getting along pretty happily. Why did you call the police?!”
Your happiness is built entirely on our suffering!
The three Fiends silently replied in their hearts.
“Young man, let’s be direct. What will it take for you to leave?” The Old Man didn’t bother beating around the bush and simply said it outright.
“Old Man, I know I’m a little thick-skinned, but I really don’t have any other choice. I just came out of my village, and it wasn’t easy finding a place to stay. Wait until I find a job and make a little money, then I’ll move out.”
The three Fiends were overjoyed when they heard that.
So it was money he wanted! He should have said so earlier! They had all been dead for so many years-who didn’t have a wealthy descendant or two?
“All right. However much you want, I’ll send my grandson a dream and have him give it to you,” Old Man said, thumping his chest.
“Old Man, I appreciate the thought, but I can’t just take your money for nothing. I have to rely on my own hardworking hands and earn myself a bright future!”
The three Fiends: “…”
Your future might be bright, but ours is about to go dark.
How could there still be someone this stubborn in the world? Wasn’t it fine if they just gave him money for free? He could take the money and leave. Simple.
But that was just the kind of person Liu Ye was. Ever since he was little, Brother Guiwa had taught him to be an upright man.
Well, Brother Guiwa and the others hadn’t had much choice either. With Liu Ye’s destructive power, if they really let him grow up crooked, they could forget about ever having a good time again.
So for safety’s sake, they had raised him however seemed most morally proper!
At midnight, the three Fiends gathered again, gloomily smoking cigarettes.
“Sigh…”
The three Fiends sighed in perfect unison.
“What do we do now?” the driver asked.
“How about we hire a hitman to kill him?” Shadow Fiend couldn’t help suggesting.
The driver and Old Man looked at him like he was mentally challenged.
“Putting aside that kid’s combat ability and what human could possibly kill him, even if someone really could do it, we’d have to stop them,” Old Man said gloomily, taking a drag from his cigarette.
“Why?” Shadow Fiend asked, puzzled.
“Because if he dies at the hands of us Fiends, then fine. But if he dies at the hands of a human, he’ll definitely turn into a Fiend! With how freaky that kid is, if he really becomes a Fiend, just imagine the consequences…”
The driver explained.
The moment Shadow Fiend imagined that scene, he couldn’t help shuddering.
That was right. That kid could only die of natural causes, or die at the hands of Fiends. Under no circumstances could he die at the hands of a human.
At that point, Old Man seemed to think of something, and his eyes lit up.
“You actually reminded me. I’ve got another idea.”
“What idea?” the two Fiends asked, excitedly leaning in.
“Take him to get a tattoo of Lord Guan with his eyes open. Then let bad luck crush him to death.”
The driver: “…”
Shadow Fiend: “…”
“Building Manager, that isn’t very scientific,” the driver couldn’t help saying.
Old Man stared at him faintly. “And what, we’re very scientific?”
The driver thought about it. Fair point! Besides, they were out of options anyway. Might as well try anything at this point.
So the next day, the driver brought Liu Ye to a tattoo parlor.
“Bro, why are you bringing me here to get a tattoo? Tattoos aren’t that great, are they?” Liu Ye couldn’t help saying.
“Hey, now, listen to yourself. You’re out here making your own way in society. No background, no money. If you don’t have a few extra tricks up your sleeve, what are you going to do when people bully you? When someone really comes looking for trouble, you just take off your shirt. Green dragon on the left, white tiger on the right, big ox across your chest. One look and they’ll know you’re not someone to mess with. You’ll scare them half to death.”
Liu Ye felt that his bro made a lot of sense.
And so the two of them entered the tattoo parlor.
“Welcome.”
A man covered head to toe in tattoos walked out. The driver glanced him over first and discovered that even the tattoo of ears on his body was extremely well done. The style looked just like the real thing.
He nodded in satisfaction, then said bluntly, “We want some special designs. Not sure if you can do them.”
“Of course I can. Not to brag, but there isn’t a design I, Pete Chen, can’t tattoo well,” the tattooed man said proudly.
“Go on, then. What do you want?”
“Let’s start with Nine Dragons Pulling a Coffin!”
“Get out!”
