Chapter 90
Chapter 90
In the end, Liu Ye still got talked into going, because the driver promised he would go pick up the eggs for him.
Before leaving, Liu Ye still felt uneasy and reminded him again.
“Bro, you have to get there early. Those old folks across the hall move fast. If you go late, you won’t be able to grab any.”
Driver: “…”
I’ll just buy you a whole damn crate!
After finally seeing Liu Ye off, the Fiends were so excited they were practically about to jump out of their skins. If this really worked, Liu Ye would be much easier to deal with from now on!
But before they could celebrate for long, the driver’s phone rang again.
“Hello? Hi!”
“Bro, it’s me, Liu Ye!” Liu Ye’s voice sounded a little nervous.
“What’s wrong? Did you two meet up? Do you want your bro to give you some advice? Listen, don’t be shy. Just be bold and-”
“No, bro. That woman… that woman has no shame.”
Driver: “…”
“You can elaborate on that. Tell me exactly how shameless she was, and describe the details. Use plenty of vivid language!”
The Fiends all crowded around the phone with gossip written all over their faces.
“Bro, didn’t that woman invite me to her place? The moment I stepped inside, she said she wanted to cook for me. Now, I saved her yesterday, so it’s totally normal for me to eat one meal from her, right?”
“Yes, yes, totally normal. Liu, buddy, you can skip over the unimportant stuff. The main point is how she was shameless,” the driver said.
“I’m getting to it. Then she said she’d make me braised pork. But guess what? The meat she took out was all rotten and stinking. Just smelling it made me sick. Isn’t that just trying to fool me?”
“Uh, yeah. And then?”
“Bro, it’s not like I’m picky. If you’re cooking to thank me, just whip up a couple dishes. It’s the thought that counts, right? But then she suddenly started looking down on me.”
“Looking down on you? How?” the driver asked, puzzled.
“She kept sizing me up with her eyes, then blinking nonstop. If she didn’t like looking at me, then she didn’t like looking at me. She could’ve just said it straight, and I would’ve left. But she kept looking at me like that. Bro, don’t you think that was too much?”
The Fiends: “…”
“That was called flirting!!!”
“What’s flirting?”
“Forget it, that’s not important right now. And then? What happened next?” the driver asked anxiously.
“Then she got even worse. She tried to put me in a chokehold. Bro, I’m a grown man. How could I let her lock me up? Who was she looking down on? I immediately gave her an over-the-shoulder throw, and then she behaved.”
The Fiends: “…”
“H-how did she try to put you in a chokehold?” the driver’s voice trembled a little.
“She opened her arms, lunged at me, and tried to lock my throat. Her head even rammed into my chest. She rubbed a bunch of powdery stuff all over my clothes, too. I’ll have to wash them when I get back. Bro, I’m telling you, that woman must’ve trained before.”
“No, you…” Shadow Fiend gritted his teeth and rubbed his head.
“Huh? Brother Biao, why are you answering the phone? Where’s my bro?”
“Your bro…”
He looked to the side and saw the driver lying on the floor with an ice pack on his forehead, while Old Man and Yellow Hair fanned him.
“Your bro also thinks that was a bit too much. He couldn’t handle the shock. Anyway, keep going. What else did you do?”
“I didn’t do anything. She was the one acting senseless, so why would I stoop to her level? I turned around and was about to leave! But then she suddenly got up, tried to take off my clothes, and even wanted to bite my neck. Bro, do you think she has any shame at all? I saved her, and she still tried to steal my clothes. This is the only thing I’m wearing! Wouldn’t that make me go outside and embarrass myself?”
All the Fiends: “…”
“So what did you do to her?”
“I didn’t do anything. Even if she had no shame, we Northeastern men don’t hit women. So I just pushed her away and left!” Liu Ye said angrily.
“…”
Good. At least she was still alive.
“Well, uh, Liu, stay where you are. Don’t move. There might be a bit of a misunderstanding here. Your bro will be right over.”
Shadow Fiend hung up the phone and said helplessly, “We were careless. I didn’t expect this kid to be completely clueless. She was already taking so much initiative, but he still managed to ruin it.”
“From now on, when he watches TV, stop letting him watch all that useless stuff. Let him watch some romance dramas. Autumn in My Heart or something,” Old Man said.
Yellow Hair: “…”
Old Man, were you watching the normal version?
Before long, the driver hurried over in a fluster.
Because no matter what, at least the girl had taken the initiative. Maybe there was still a chance.
Coincidentally, the woman lived very close to them. Soon, in front of an apartment building, the driver spotted Liu Ye squatting on the ground.
“Bro!” Liu Ye called out, sounding utterly wronged.
The driver: “…”
And now you feel wronged too?!
“All right, it’s fine. I’ll go up with you and talk to her.”
Liu Ye nodded, and the two of them entered the stairwell. The moment they stepped inside, the driver caught the smell of blood. His brows immediately furrowed. Then, when Liu Ye brought him to that apartment, the stench of blood grew even stronger.
As a Fiend, he was extremely sensitive to that sort of thing. The door wasn’t even locked. He pushed it open at once, and then he saw… a human-shaped hole in the wall. On the other side was a bloody mess.
He immediately shut the door.
“An illusion. It’s all an illusion!”
Then he opened the door again. The scene inside was exactly the same, and the entire Fiend instantly felt unwell.
He hurried into the apartment and saw the woman lying on the bed, covered in blood.
Grief-stricken and furious, he pulled out his phone and called the Shadow Fiend.
“Didn’t I tell you to find someone with a tough fate?”
The Shadow Fiend said, completely baffled, “Yeah. I did find someone with a tough fate. I picked this girl very carefully. All her relatives are dead, and eight boyfriends in a row met with accidents after dating her. Tell me, is that fate tough or not?”
“She’s dying right now!”
“Mm… Then I guess… she just wasn’t tougher than that kid,” the Shadow Fiend said.
The driver hung up and looked at Liu Ye, equal parts heartbroken and furious.
“No, listen to me. You went a little too far this time! She only went on a date with you! Did you really have to take her life? You’re being completely unreasonable here, bro, seriously!”
His words left Liu Ye completely confused. What was this even about?
“Bro, I’m a proper northeastern man. I’d never hit a woman, let alone kill one!”
“Then look for yourself.”
The driver pushed the door open. Liu Ye looked inside, then said with a laugh, “Come on, man. It’s not nearly as serious as you said. Isn’t she just sleeping on the bed?”
The driver: “…”
So you’re just selectively ignoring it, huh? But the moment Liu Ye said that, the driver realized something was off.
Because after spending so much time with Liu Ye, he had come to understand him somewhat. Liu Ye’s selective blindness usually only happened with Fiends.
So he immediately entered the room and went to the woman’s bedside. After taking a closer look, he was shocked to discover that the woman was actually half Fiend.
He looked around, then found a small bottle by the head of the bed.
At a glance, he recognized it as the bottle used to hold Desire Potion.
“The Illuminati again.”
Disgust flashed across the driver’s face. That bunch of people were nothing but troublemakers, stirring up chaos wherever they went.
He extended a finger, and a thin strand of yin energy split off from it. The thread drifted through the air before finally landing on the computer sitting on the desk.
This was Yin Qi Trail, a minor technique for using yin energy. It would automatically cling to places where yin energy had once appeared.
The driver walked over and turned on the computer, only to find it perfectly clean. Aside from a few basic icons, there was nothing extra on it.
“Bro, how can you just mess with someone else’s stuff?” Liu Ye said.
“She tried to kill herself. I’m investigating why,” the driver said casually, making up an excuse.
But that scared Liu Ye badly. She couldn’t have tried to kill herself because of him, right? If so, that would be a huge sin.
He immediately went to the bedside and placed his hand under the woman’s nose. Feeling that she was still breathing, he instantly relaxed.
Then he took out his little bundle. He had learned first aid back in the village, though he had learned it from watching TV.
Then he pulled out a pair of electric batons. Doctors on TV always did it like this.
“How many joules did they say on TV again? Tens of thousands? Or hundreds of millions? Forget it, I’ll just pick one.”
As he spoke, he raised the electric batons and pressed them down.
