Chapter 65
Chapter 65
Seeing her like that, Nanshu couldn’t help being a little curious.
So he leaned in.
The moment he got close, Jiang Yunsui jumped up and stomped hard on the top of his foot.
“Aaaah!!!”
Seizing the chance, she threw the Little Mushroom in her hand at Nanshu’s mouth.
Uh… she missed.
Mainly because of her height. Even jumping, she couldn’t reach Nanshu’s mouth.
No problem. She still had two more.
Jiang Yunsui hurriedly pulled out the remaining two red Little Mushroom items.
Nanshu’s eyes went wide. The instant Jiang Yunsui threw the other two mushrooms at him, he reacted fast and clapped a hand over his mouth.
He had no idea what Jiang Yunsui was trying to make him eat, but it definitely wasn’t anything good!
All three attempts to feed him a Little Mushroom failed.
Jiang Yunsui stamped her foot in fury.
Nanshu was even angrier. He raised the ruler in his hand.
“Why, you little brat! What are you trying to feed me? Stop right there…”
Jiang Yunsui said, “Only an idiot would stop!”
Getting smacked on the hand with that ruler hurt.
If she didn’t run now, when would she?
“Heiwa, Zuozuo Youyou, come protect me! Someone’s killing a child!”
Jiang Yunsui’s short little legs carried her away at top speed while she shouted for backup.
The three dogs outside the door heard her cry and immediately shot inside.
Nanshu yelled, “Jiang Yunsui, stop right there! If I don’t teach you a lesson today, my name isn’t Nanshu!”
“Woof, woof, woof…”
“Heiwa, all of you, be reasonable! She’s the one who stepped on my foot and tried to feed me some weird thing!”
Jiang Yunsui stood behind Heiwa and made a face at him. “Can’t hit me, hehe…”
For a time, the study descended into total chaos.
Ji Yan’an: “…”
His expression grew darker and darker. Finally, he slapped the table.
“Hiss…”
He had used too much force. Ji Yan’an had forgotten how weak and fragile his body was at the moment. The fingers he’d struck against the table curled up, trembling slightly.
The key point was that the others were making so much noise they didn’t hear him slap the table at all.
Utterly awkward.
Once the pain in his hand eased, Ji Yan’an took a deep breath.
“Nanmo, bring them over here.”
Nanmo nodded coolly. Then, like a ghost, he appeared behind Nanshu and chopped him across the back of the neck with the edge of his hand.
Nanshu’s eyes rolled back. The ruler he had been holding high fell from his hand, and he collapsed to the floor.
Jiang Yunsui’s mouth fell slightly open. She looked at Nanshu, then at Nanmo.
At that moment, Nanmo’s gaze turned toward her too.
Jiang Yunsui quickly raised both arms and reached back to cover her own neck, staring at him warily with her little eyes.
“You… you hit him already, so you can’t hit me too, okay?”
Nanmo gave a hum of acknowledgment. “The Young Master told you to come over.”
Then he looked at Heiwa and the other two dogs.
“You too.”
He was clearly leaving no one out.
Then he dragged Nanshu toward Ji Yan’an.
Jiang Yunsui hurriedly followed along obediently.
Ji Yan’an looked at the unconscious Nanshu and felt a headache coming on.
“Why did you knock him out?”
Nanmo said, “Too noisy.”
As he spoke, he went to pour a cup of water, then splashed it straight onto Nanshu’s face.
Nanshu was jolted awake by the water and shot upright like a spring.
“Who? Who attacked me?!”
Hiss… his neck.
“Nanmo!”
Nanmo held his sword and stood there like a pillar, as if he hadn’t heard that furious roar at all.
Ji Yan’an’s voice was cold and faint. “You all turned my study into a marketplace. You seemed to be having quite a good time.”
Hearing Ji Yan’an’s voice, Nanshu tucked in his neck and instantly went as quiet as a chicken.
Oh no. He’d been so furious at that little girl that he’d forgotten where he was.
Ji Yan’an said, “Go on. What happened?”
Nanshu was the first to jump out and lodge a complaint. “She tried to poison me.”
Jiang Yunsui retorted, “Slander!”
Nanshu looked utterly aggrieved. “Young Master, you have no idea how outrageous Jiang Yunsui was! She tricked me into going over, then jumped up and stomped right on the top of my foot. It hurt like hell! And while I was yelling from the pain, she tried to throw something into my mouth. I don’t know what it was, but that little girl is rotten to the core. It definitely wasn’t anything good.”
“And she threw three of them!”
Jiang Yunsui felt a little guilty.
But she also felt wronged. “None of the three even landed in his mouth.”
Ji Yan’an: “…Then you’re really quite stupid.”
Jiang Yunsui huffed twice and stopped talking.
By then, Nanmo had already picked up the things Jiang Yunsui had thrown. Three pretty little red mushrooms, each only the size of a finger, were placed on Ji Yan’an’s desk.
“You fed him mushrooms?”
Nanshu craned his neck for a look, then immediately pointed at Jiang Yunsui and shouted.
“Oh, you little thing! So you really were trying to poison me. Mushrooms that brightly colored have to be poisonous.”
“But did your brain get slammed in a door or something? What decent person poisons someone by shoving raw mushrooms straight into their mouth?”
Ji Yan’an: Nanshu had said exactly what he wanted to say.
Jiang Yunsui’s little face flushed faintly. Fine, maybe it was a little dumb.
Ji Yan’an twisted the knife. “And your aim is terrible.”
Not one of the three had gone in.
“What does this thing do?”
Ji Yan’an didn’t actually think Jiang Yunsui would poison anyone. This little coward didn’t have that kind of nerve.
Most likely, she’d been scolded over her studies one too many times and had gotten angry enough to pull a prank.
“It just… makes people say some secrets hidden in their hearts after they eat it.”
Nanshu was dumbfounded. “What the hell?”
“Oh, I see. You wanted to watch me make a fool of myself.”
Jiang Yunsui glared at him with her big eyes. “Keep your voice down.”
Nanshu: “You…”
Ji Yan’an stared thoughtfully at the little mushrooms before him.
“What’s this mushroom called?”
Jiang Yunsui said, “Truth Mushroom.”
Ji Yan’an said to Nanmo, “Go call Mr. Shen here.”
Jiang Yunsui didn’t want to listen to Nanshu lecture her, so she quickly scampered away.
Shen Qingzhu arrived very soon. Then he and Ji Yan’an stood over the three little mushrooms and began discussing them.
Jiang Yunsui was thirsty. She wanted tea.
Ji Yan’an’s tea tasted the best.
She glanced at Ji Yan’an, who was in the middle of the discussion, and asked in an extremely tiny voice, “Ji Yan’an, I’m drinking your tea!”
Mm. Ji Yan’an didn’t answer, so that meant he had agreed by default.
Jiang Yunsui secretly carried off the plump white teapot sitting at the edge of his desk.
After a while, her little hand crept up again and smoothly took a small teacup too.
Standing on tiptoe, she slunk like a sneaky cat over to the bookshelf and found a corner to sit in.
She pulled out a book and set it on the floor, then placed the teapot and teacup on top.
Then she took out her little embroidered pouch for snacks and opened it.
One by one, she took out dried sweet potatoes, fragrant dried mushrooms, and a few pastries.
She took a sip of tea, then stuffed a little food into her mouth.
The Little Mushroom sat cross-legged on the floor, happily swaying her body.
Eating and drinking really suited Little Mushroom best.
On the other side, Ji Yan’an and Shen Qingzhu had finished discussing how to verify the effects of the Truth Mushroom. After talking for so long, Ji Yan’an’s mouth had gone a little dry.
He turned his head toward the spot where he’d left his teapot.
Ji Yan’an: ???
Where was my tea?!
He didn’t even have to think about it. Who else would have the nerve besides a certain Little Mushroom who was both cowardly and bold?
“Jiang Yunsui!”
Ji Yan’an ground out those three words through gritted teeth.
A dozen or so seconds later, a fluffy little head slowly poked out from behind his bookshelf.
On that fair, plump little face were large eyes, clear and innocent, the outer corners slightly drooping, making her look utterly blameless.
Ji Yan’an stared at her expressionlessly. “Where’s my tea?”
