Chapter 203
Chapter 203
“Aren’t you done yet? I stepped on your egg by accident, and I already apologized! Do you really have to chase me this far?!”
Jiang Yunsui clutched several flowers in her hands while a long line of huge white geese pursued her relentlessly.
It was the same flock that had pecked her before.
The geese spread their wings and practically glided over the ground. They were astonishingly fast, and every time one caught up, it pecked Jiang Yunsui on the bottom.
“Ow! Don’t push me too far! I have helpers too!”
Little Mushroom was furious. She had only seen some pretty wildflowers and wanted to pick a few for a wreath. Then she had accidentally stepped on a goose egg.
It was not as if she had done it on purpose. Did the whole flock really have to chase her?
Jiang Yunsui’s beautiful little face turned red with rage. Too stubborn to admit defeat, she did not enter Stealth Mode. She threw down the flowers and began fighting the big white geese.
She grabbed them by their necks and smacked their faces. She even used her teeth, biting the red bumps on their heads while kicking and punching.
“Honk! Honk! Honk!”
Jiang Yunsui snarled with all the ferocity her childish voice could muster. “Just wait! I’ll have someone buy you when I get back. Then we’ll cook you! All of you!”
She had already arranged an entire iron-pot goose stew in her head.
Did they really think Little Mushroom was easy to bully? She had powerful backing!
As one child and a flock of geese fought back and forth, a group of people watched from nearby with twitching mouths.
“Young Master, that child’s mind doesn’t look quite right. Perhaps… we should forget it.”
The man addressed as Young Master wore a ghost mask. His gaze was cold and somber, giving him a forbidding air.
His voice was equally cold. “We’re capturing people to test medicine. Why would we care about her mind?”
“Yes. I’ll get her now.”
The subordinate rode toward Jiang Yunsui.
Still fighting the tyrannical geese, Jiang Yunsui was suddenly lifted off the ground. Her short legs kicked in the air, and confusion filled her face.
The geese saw Jiang Yunsui disappear, but the sight of a tall horse and rider did nothing to lessen their aggression. They chased after them and continued pecking.
The man frowned. Unwilling to invite more trouble, he dumped the child across his horse and galloped away.
“Hyah!”
Jiang Yunsui finally realized that a stranger had grabbed her.
“Who are you? Let go! Put me down…”
She thrashed like a fish flung onto shore.
“Shut up!” the man snapped.
Not only did Jiang Yunsui refuse, she began wailing even louder.
“Help! Someone’s stealing a child! Kidnapping – mmph…”
A hand covered her mouth, bringing with it an unpleasant smell.
Jiang Yunsui’s eyes widened. It was a knockout drug.
She bit the man’s hand, then closed her eyes and pretended to faint.
She could not escape while he held her, but she could run once they lowered their guard.
Wait. They seemed far too practiced. They must have taken other children as well. Just watch her make trouble for them and have these horrible kidnappers thrown into prison!
“Young Master, I caught her. Judging by her clothes and appearance, she isn’t from an ordinary family. It’s strange that there were no adults nearby. She probably sneaked away.”
Jiang Yunsui: You’re the one who sneaked away! I told someone before I came out!
“Move.”
Jiang Yunsui resisted the urge to crack open her eyes for a peek and continued playing dead.
They traveled quickly. She had no idea how long the jolting lasted. Just as she could no longer endure it and considered “waking up,” they finally stopped.
Then someone threw her into a dark cave.
“Ow!”
They truly had not been gentle. Little Mushroom grimaced in pain and finally opened her eyes.
A cold laugh came from above her.
“You woke rather quickly. You came to on the road, didn’t you?”
“No wonder you’re better fed than the other children.”
Jiang Yunsui hugged her knees and shrank into a corner, then secretly glared at him.
She had earned this flesh with her own hard work. What business was it of his?
Who did he think he was frightening with that mask? He probably had no face to show people. Well, naturally – what face could a kidnapper have?
Little Mushroom cursed him endlessly in her heart, but she was too timid to speak any of it aloud.
Hmph. She would wait until Ji Yan’an and the others arrived and captured him. Then she would curse him.
Fingers suddenly pinched her cheeks. Before Jiang Yunsui could react, something was shoved into her mouth.
“Urgh…”
Fishy, rancid, revolting – it smelled terrible and tasted worse.
“Swallow it,” the man ordered in an icy voice.
Jiang Yunsui stared at him with round eyes, pushed the foul pill out with her tongue, and spat it into his palm.
Wen Chong stared speechlessly at the pill in his palm.
Jiang Yunsui said weakly, “Y-you told me too late.”
The man drew a deep breath and ordered another pill brought over.
Jiang Yunsui covered her mouth. When one hand was pulled away, she used the other.
Wen Chong snapped, “What are you staring at? Hold down her hands!”
Once her hands were pinned, Jiang Yunsui panicked at the thought of eating that stinking thing. She kicked upward and struck Wen Chong’s mask.
Clatter.
The mask fell to the ground.
For one instant, the entire cave went silent.
Jiang Yunsui stared at the man before her, one foot still raised in the air.
Wen Chong glared at her with savage fury.
“You want to die!”
His hand moved to her throat.
Half of Wen Chong’s face was handsome, while the other half was as hideous as an evil ghost. Now he looked even more terrifying.
“Mmph…”
An inconspicuous venomous snake slipped from Jiang Yunsui’s wrist and bit him.
Scalding agony shot through his arm, forcing Wen Chong to release her throat.
Little Mushroom did not even pause to cough. She scrambled up, turned, and ran for the cave entrance.
“Catch her!”
Wen Chong stared at the bite on his hand. Blue-black poison had already spread outward like a spiderweb.
He hurriedly swallowed an antidote pill.
The poison stopped spreading, but his arm still burned with pain.
Jiang Yunsui failed to escape and was dragged back.
Wen Chong began searching her body.
She thrashed violently. “You sick pervert! Let go!”
Wen Chong froze.
So did his subordinates.
Wen Chong sneered. “I underestimated you. You even carry a snake gu.”
“Hand it over.”
Jiang Yunsui covered her little neck and shook her head. “It’s gone. I told it to run away.”
Of course she had sent Little Pink fleeing the instant Wen Chong was bitten. Was she supposed to leave the snake here and wait for this sick pervert to take revenge?
Wen Chong laughed in fury. “Very good. You’ve succeeded in angering me.”
“Throw her into the evil-ghost cave.”
Someone lifted Jiang Yunsui while she yelled wildly.
“What are you doing? Kidnapping children is shameless! Any babies you have will be born without butts!”
She had learned that line while watching people curse in the streets.
Little Mushroom had once been a civilized mushroom, but at this moment, she really wanted to let loose.
The man carrying her was rendered speechless.
Even Wen Chong’s mouth twitched.
She was thrown into another cave. Jiang Yunsui landed on her stomach as tortured howls rang in her ears.
She looked up and froze in terror.
Those… those were the same mad monsters they had seen in Wushan Cavern!
