Chapter 1
Chapter 1
“Is everything handled?”
“Boss, they’re all dead.”
“Let’s go.”
A group of figures dressed in night-traveling gear quickly departed, leaving behind a pile of fresh corpses under the cover of night.
‘It hurts… it hurts so much…’
Not long after the men in black left, a small, bloody hand trembled as it pushed away the ‘person’ lying on top of her.
But even this small movement exhausted all her strength.
Under the moonlight, a little girl of about four years old breathed weakly.
The Little Spirit Mushroom felt a large gash on her body. Warm liquid flowed from the wound, and she felt so cold.
It felt as if she were about to die.
She didn’t want to die.
Driven by this intense obsession, the moon in the sky seemed to brighten. The intangible moonlight, guided by some mysterious pull, spilled over her.
Countless dense spores, clearly visible in the moonlight, gathered together and swarmed toward the wound on her neck.
If anyone had been there, they would have been shocked to see the wound on her neck healing at a pace visible to the naked eye. The bleeding had stopped completely.
However, the excessive blood loss caused her body to sink into a state of extreme weakness. In her grogginess, the Little Spirit Mushroom thought she heard something approaching.
“Young Master, there’s still someone alive here.”
“Quite a survivor, it seems.”
A somewhat cold voice rang out.
“Bring her back.”
After hearing those words in a daze, the Little Spirit Mushroom fell into a deep coma.
***
She was a Spirit Mushroom who had cultivated into a spirit, and she was also… Jiang Yunsui of the Jiang Clan.
In her previous world, a massive natural disaster had occurred. Many animals, plants, and even people in the mountains had been injured.
To save her companions in the mountains, she had drained herself until she became a super-weak Little Mushroom.
The Heavenly Dao, moved by her merit, gave her a chance at reincarnation.
But it was in a different world.
She was now Jiang Yunsui, the daughter of a merchant.
She had become a human child.
At this moment, the most vivid memory in her mind was of that night-figures like demons from hell, wielding weapons and slaughtering everyone in the Jiang Clan’s merchant caravan. They hadn’t even spared her, a four-year-old child.
Amidst the echoes of screams and the struggle of blood, the little girl lying on the bed turned pale and suddenly snapped her eyes open.
A flash of life-affirming green flickered in those beautiful eyes before quickly receding into the depths of her dark pupils.
“She’s awake! She’s awake!”
Hearing the voice, Jiang Yunsui gradually regained her senses.
“How are you feeling, little girl?”
Jiang Yunsui’s eyes focused as she looked at the person sitting by the bed.
She stared blankly, not knowing what to say, her small hands nervously clutching the quilt.
The person sitting by the bed looked at her with heartache. “She must be scared witless. What a sin… to be so young and encounter such a thing.”
Jiang Yunsui stared at the ceiling in a daze, then looked at her hands. She still hadn’t figured out what was going on.
It seemed she had become human.
The person by the bed rambled on, but Jiang Yunsui couldn’t quite understand what was being said.
It wasn’t until the person brought over a bowl of porridge that the fragrant aroma caught Jiang Yunsui’s attention.
“You’ve been asleep for twelve days. If you hadn’t still been breathing, we would have thought you weren’t going to make it. Luckily, you’re a survivor. From now on, you must live well.”
“Come, you haven’t eaten for so many days. Your face has grown thin from hunger.”
Naturally, she couldn’t eat while unconscious. Jiang Yunsui’s originally chubby little face now had a much sharper chin.
Jiang Yunsui stared curiously at the bowl of porridge. At the woman’s urging, she leaned forward and took a cautious sip. Then, her eyes lit up.
She buried her head in the food, eating without even looking up.
“Oh my, slow down, slow down.”
Once she finished, Jiang Yunsui’s large eyes stared fixedly at the bowl; she wanted more.
However, being a human for the first time, she didn’t know how to express herself.
Jiang Yunsui opened her mouth and, mimicking the memories in her mind, slowly uttered two words.
“Want… more.”
Her voice sounded somewhat clumsy and unpracticed.
“You can’t eat too much at once. We’ll wait a bit before eating again.”
Jiang Yunsui understood-this meant she wasn’t getting any more food.
Her originally sparkling gaze dimmed visibly, a sight that would make anyone’s heart soften.
“Oh dear, you really can’t eat anymore, or your body won’t be able to take it. Let’s take your medicine first.”
Medicine?
Jiang Yunsui was confused until… a bowl of pitch-black liquid was brought in. It smelled so bitter that her fair little face wrinkled up in disgust.
Jiang Yunsui: ……
She showed her resistance through action, throwing back the covers and getting out of bed. Without even putting on shoes, she bolted for the door.
However, she hadn’t quite mastered her limbs yet. After only two steps, her body went limp and she collapsed.
It was a face-plant, too. The pain brought tears to her eyes.
But the Little Mushroom refused to admit defeat. She didn’t even try to stand back up, instead opting to scramble out on all fours.
And she was surprisingly fast-with a *whoosh*, she was gone in the blink of an eye.
The person holding the medicine: ???!!!
Where did she go?!
Her mouth hung open, her brain stalling as she watched the girl vanish in a blur of hands and feet.
Meanwhile, Jiang Yunsui had curled herself into a ball, hugging her knees. She squatted under a tree, staring blankly at the ants crawling across the ground.
After an unknown amount of time, two women dressed in identical outfits walked down a nearby path.
“What rotten luck, being assigned to deal with Young Master Ji. We’ve followed him to this godforsaken place; will we ever be able to go back?”
“The master said that as long as we find a way to monitor him here, his people will take over once Young Master Ji dies. When that time comes, we’ll return as heroes and be made Prince Cheng’s concubines.”
“That Young Master Ji is so sickly now, there’s no telling when he’ll kick the bucket.”
“Still, his temper is getting more and more volatile. I don’t want to go anywhere near him. Otherwise, forget going back-I won’t even know how I died.”
The two grumbled as they passed by Jiang Yunsui, acting as if they didn’t even see her, brushing right past her side.
Jiang Yunsui tilted her head slightly, her eyes full of confusion.
What was a ‘Young Master’? Was it something like a persimmon?
Forget it, she should try to organize the things in her head.
Suddenly, Jiang Yunsui’s entire body stiffened, and her already round eyes widened even further.
Just now, the Heavenly Dao of This Realm had suddenly sent her a message.
She was now Jiang Yunsui. Since she occupied this body, if she wanted to live as Jiang Yunsui, she had to resolve the karma of this body. Otherwise, she would still die when she turned eighteen.
To resolve this body’s karma, she had to find the enemies who murdered the entire Jiang Clan.
Jiang Yunsui: The sky is falling!
She was just a mushroom who knew nothing. How was she supposed to find enemies and seek revenge? QAQ
Squatting on the ground, Jiang Yunsui began to think seriously about how to get revenge.
Two hours passed…
She was tired. The mushroom’s head was still a complete blank.
Giving a yawn, Jiang Yunsui hadn’t come up with a single solution, but her head was starting to nod as sleepiness took over.
“Child? Little girl, where did you go?”
An anxious shout came from not far away.
Jiang Yunsui reacted with a few seconds of delay. That seemed to be the person who gave her the delicious food but also wanted her to eat that nasty black stuff.
Was that person calling for her?
