Chapter 3

Cook Chen: “…”

Why was this child so curious about everything?

After hugging her cup and drinking her fill of water, Jiang Yunsui suddenly asked, “Is the Young Master the most powerful person?”

It took Cook Chen a moment to process the question.

Speaking of this, Cook Chen was no longer sleepy.

“Young Master Ji’s family are all heroes. They are the great heroes who protect us people of Mobei. Although Young Master Ji is still young, he is a member of the Ji Family, so of course he is very powerful.”

Cook Chen’s life had been saved by the Ji Family, and they had given her a chance to live. Because of this, she held the Ji Family in the highest regard.

She spoke incessantly about how the Ji Family protected Mobei, how they fought against those ambitious barbarians from the grasslands, and how the people of Mobei and the Ji Family Army adored them.

As Jiang Yunsui listened, her eyes gradually glazed over and her mind went blank.

There was simply too much information; her little mushroom head couldn’t quite hold it all.

However, she understood one thing: that person called Young Master Ji was truly very powerful.

It was decided-she would go find him!

Thus, after Cook Chen left, Jiang Yunsui also slipped away quietly.

She had to go eavesdrop to find out what Young Master Ji looked like and where he lived.

For three consecutive days, Jiang Yunsui ran out trying to find where Young Master Ji lived.

She didn’t find the Young Master, but she did encounter many other people.

She was like a quiet Little Mushroom; when she came across something interesting, she would stop and watch for a while, and if she wasn’t interested, she would just walk away.

It wasn’t until the fourth day that she heard several people delivering food mention that the meals were for Young Master Ji.

Jiang Yunsui’s little feet immediately took a turn as she decided to follow them.

She didn’t really hide; she just instinctively lowered her presence as she followed behind them. Strangely enough, those people truly acted as if they couldn’t see her at all.

Although Jiang Yunsui was small and short, she was still a four-year-old child; she couldn’t be completely devoid of presence.

Yet, somehow, not a single person noticed her.

Even when they reached the courtyard where the Young Master stayed, Jiang Yunsui walked in right behind the food delivery team, and the guards at the gate didn’t notice her either.

Jiang Yunsui acted as sneaky as a cat when there were guards around, but strutted boldly when there weren’t.

There were many people guarding this courtyard, and the food being delivered had to undergo inspections.

After Jiang Yunsui slipped into the room, she curled herself up in a corner, her large eyes wide as she watched the people arrange the fragrant dishes on the table.

Wafts of aroma drifted over. At this moment, how could she remember what she had come for? Her attention was entirely captured by the delicious food.

She was practically drooling.

Could she go and have a little bite?

“Young Master, it is time for your meal.”

Jiang Yunsui’s attention was finally pulled back. Looking toward the source of the voice, she saw a curtain being slowly lifted by a pale hand.

Immediately after, a very thin youth dressed in black martial attire walked out, looking somewhat sickly and pale.

Though only a twelve-year-old boy, his eyes were dark and deep, with a hint of bloodshot veins around the pupils and dark circles beneath them. His entire aura was oppressive.

Jiang Yunsui’s nose twitched slightly; she smelled a very unpleasant scent.

The youth sat down at the dining table. “All of you, leave.”

“Young Master, you should at least eat a little, otherwise…”

“Leave.”

His tone brooked no argument.

The surrounding servants all lowered their heads and left quietly. The only elderly man who dared to advise Ji Yan’an sighed and also departed in silence.

Jiang Yunsui thought for several seconds before realizing she had heard this voice before.

Ji Yan’an stared at the food on the table before him with a frown, picking up his chopsticks only to set them down again.

He knew his body wouldn’t be able to hold out much longer if he didn’t eat, but… he truly had no appetite.

Suddenly, Ji Yan’an’s eyes shot a sharp, piercing gaze toward the spot where Jiang Yunsui was hiding.
Jiang Yunsui, who had just taken a step forward while dazed by the delicious aroma: “……”

She didn’t dare move.

She pulled her foot back and hugged her little knees, pretending she was a mushroom.

No, she actually was one!

That man’s eyes were so scary, QAQ.

But… but a person this scary should be able to help her get revenge, right?

Ji Yan’an stared at the child who had squatted back down, his expression shifting between shock and suspicion.

Such a large person was hiding there-no, it couldn’t even be called hiding. She was squatting right there in the corner in plain sight, yet not a single person, including himself, had noticed her!

Ji Yan’an clenched his hand, his eyes dark and unreadable.

Whose person was this? And who had let her in?

Jiang Yunsui tilted her head and stared back at him for a long while before finally letting out a yawn.

She rubbed her eyes, ultimately losing this standoff where neither side made a move.

“Are you Young Master Ji?”

Ji Yan’an’s gaze turned sinister. “Who are you? When did you appear in my room?”

He had already quietly drawn a dagger from his waist.

Jiang Yunsui walked over carefully, but she stopped when she was three meters away from him.

The child very politely introduced herself first.

“Hello, my name is Jiang Yunsui. I… I was picked up by you from outside.”

Ji Yan’an: “???”

A few seconds later, he remembered. His thin lips lightly uttered two words: “It’s you.”

He had encountered that unfortunate family on the road from the Capital to Mobei some time ago. They had been wiped out; everyone was dead except for this child who had survived.

She certainly had a tenacious life.

Ji Yan’an remained impassive. “How did you get in?”

Jiang Yunsui whispered, “I followed someone in.”

Ji Yan’an: *So are all the people in my courtyard dead?*

“Can you help me get revenge?”

Jiang Yunsui didn’t know how to be subtle; she stated her purpose very directly.

Ji Yan’an remained expressionless.

Did he look like some kind of helpful pushover?

“Help you get revenge? You’re quite the dreamer for someone so young. I haven’t even settled the score with you for sneaking into my room yet.”

A simple Little Mushroom who had never interacted with humans couldn’t understand sarcasm.

She only hung her head in disappointment. “They said you were the most powerful person here, so that’s why I came to find you.”

“Then I’ll go look for someone else.”

As Jiang Yunsui spoke, she walked away, looking back every three steps.

However, that look wasn’t one of reluctance to leave Ji Yan’an; she was staring at the food on the dining table.

It smells so good… *slurp*…

But it belongs to someone else, so I can’t eat it.

Rubbing her stomach, Jiang Yunsui’s large eyes drooped. Like an abandoned kitten, she clutched her little belly and walked out pitifully.

Ji Yan’an’s brow furrowed even tighter; he hadn’t finished questioning her yet.

He got up to chase after her, only to watch with his own eyes as the child walked right past the doorway. The tall, burly man standing guard didn’t notice her at all, let alone spare her a glance.

Ji Yan’an’s fingers trembled slightly with sudden rage.

Was the staff he raised a bunch of blind men?!

“Halt!”

Everyone in the courtyard instantly stood up straight, looking toward Ji Yan’an with bewildered faces.

“Huh? Me?”

The sudden appearance of a soft, milky voice caused the eyes of everyone in the courtyard to widen instantly.

They looked over in disbelief, and when they discovered Jiang Yunsui standing not far from the door, their pupils shook with shock.

Wait, when did this kid appear?!

Ji Yan’an’s expression was cold and somber. “Such a large person, and none of you saw her?”

It was Uncle Li, who looked after Ji Yan’an, who reacted first. He gasped and rushed to Ji Yan’an’s side in a single stride.

“Who are you? Where did you come from!”

Asked who she was, Jiang Yunsui answered seriously.

“My name is Jiang Yunsui. I was picked up by Young Master Ji.”

Everyone: “……”
