Chapter 212
Chapter 212
His words were cruel, but crueler still was the fact that they were true.
Little Mushroom angrily thrust her pout into the air and turned her back on them.
Lin Lang said, “Pouting won’t make us let you climb up. It’s dangerous.”
Jiang Yunsui became even angrier.
“Who says I’m pouting? I’m angry! Angry!”
Her cheeks were puffed like a frog. Was her fury not obvious?
Lin Lang looked surprised. “That’s what you look like when you’re angry? So cute. Heh, heh.”
“Here. Look at this.”
He punched the busy Lin Ran in the shoulder.
“Are you asking to die?!”
Lin Ran flew into a rage and kicked him before Jiang Yunsui’s astonished eyes.
Grimacing in pain, Lin Lang told her, “See? That’s anger.”
Jiang Yunsui’s eyes grew round.
“Sister Lin Ran is amazing.”
She patted her own cheeks, made what she thought was a vicious face, and asked Lin Shitou, “Do I look scary when I’m angry now?”
Lin Shitou stared blankly. “Huh? Are you angry?”
Jiang Yunsui gave up. She had not grown up yet. Once she was older, her anger would surely become obvious.
After all this joking, she forgot she had meant to be angry.
As she watched the others follow the narrow path onto the ledge, her eyes darted. She immediately lowered her presence and followed.
The path was narrow, but vines on the cliff and small trees growing from cracks provided handholds.
Jiang Yunsui was little and carried no basket, so she found the climb fairly easy.
“We finally made it. Even the air is sweet!”
“The bees really aren’t stinging us. Wow, there are so many clinging to those combs.”
“Cut the ones with fewer bees.”
These bees were relatively gentle. As long as no one provoked them, they generally did no harm.
Laughing, the children began choosing combs to harvest.
The honey in some had already been eaten, leaving the entire comb pale and light.
Honey-filled combs had a far more enticing color.
“Remove the empty ones. Then when the bees build again, they can use those spaces.”
Lin Lang had just cut down a section when a familiar voice suddenly spoke beside him.
“Break me off a piece. I want a taste.”
Jiang Yunsui approached eagerly.
It looked so sweet.
Lin Lang nearly dropped the comb.
“Weren’t you down below?!”
The others stared over in alarm.
Jiang Yunsui gazed at them obediently and innocently.
Her soft voice dripped with innocence. “I followed you up.”
Everyone stared at her, dumbfounded.
Absurd. Not one of them had noticed!
Hidden nearby, Ji Si thought: I knew it.
But she was already here.
Lin Lang cut off a small piece with his dagger and handed it to her.
“Eat this, and don’t run around.”
Jiang Yunsui nodded with perfect obedience, her voice almost as sweet as the honey.
“Got it~”
She tilted her head back. There were so many combs. Could the bees truly eat all this honey?
After the children harvested several, Jiang Yunsui decided to reward these hardworking little creatures.
Estimating which comb contained the queen, she rose on tiptoe and tossed up a ball of Imperial Flowing Essence.
The moment it scattered, the surrounding bees erupted into activity.
Everyone cutting comb froze.
“What’s happening?!”
“Jiang Yunsui!”
They watched in horror as every bee on the combs flew toward her.
Within moments, bees covered her from head to toe. She became a tiny bee person, with only her eyes visible.
Jiang Yunsui raised one “swollen” hand and cleared the bees from her mouth.
“I’m fine.”
Hearing her voice, Ji Si stopped before revealing himself.
“What happened to you? Did they sting you?”
Her muffled voice came from inside the swarm. “No. They aren’t stinging me.”
“I’m just too popular.”
Everyone was rendered speechless.
That kind of popularity was terrifying.
After repeatedly confirming that Jiang Yunsui was unharmed, Lin Ran burst out laughing.
“You… you look ridiculous. The bees have wrapped you up completely. Only your eyes, mouth, and nostrils are showing.”
Lin Lang said, “I think all those insects packed together look horrifying.”
Jiang Yunsui felt depressed. Why had they all landed on her? Now she scarcely dared move.
“Wow! That bee is huge, especially its abdomen.”
A bee much larger than the others dropped from the comb.
Jiang Yunsui recognized the queen.
Her body was so heavy she could hardly fly.
Jiang Yunsui hurriedly caught her.
The queen circled on her palm.
Jiang Yunsui did not need to understand the language of bees to know what she wanted. Obediently, she produced a little more Imperial Flowing Essence.
The others continued cutting comb.
When they had enough, they shouldered their baskets.
“What about you? We need to leave.”
Jiang Yunsui handed the queen to Lin Lang. “Put her back first.”
Then she shook herself vigorously until the bees finally fell away.
In an instant, she transformed from a plump little figure back into a “thin” one.
“All right, all right. Hurry! Otherwise they’ll stick to me again.”
Being too popular was troublesome.
She promptly fled, and the others followed.
The descent went smoothly. The instant Jiang Yunsui reached the ground, however, her bad luck struck. A vine caught her foot, and she fell directly to her knees.
Lin Shitou froze as she knelt before him.
“I-I don’t have a red envelope for you.”
Jiang Yunsui’s face reddened. She hurried to her feet and dusted off her trousers.
“It was the vine’s fault!”
Little Mushroom flew into embarrassed fury. It had made her lose so much face!
The others suppressed their laughter. Lin Ran cut down the vine, avenging her.
“Come look at this.”
They had lined the baskets with leaves, then covered those with fine cloth.
The honeycombs rested on the cloth. Any dripping honey would soak into it rather than escape.
“There’s so much. It looks delicious.”
Every child received a small piece and ate happily.
“Let’s hurry back. Weren’t we supposed to eat boar meat this morning?”
“Let’s go! Pork and honey on the same day – could anything be happier?”
Smiling, the children headed out of the mountains.
“Yunsui, where are your dogs and roosters?”
Jiang Yunsui scratched her head. She did not know either.
“I’ll call them.”
“Qianqian! Houhou! Zuozuo! Youyou!”
Her voice was too small and cracked from the effort.
The others helped call for a long time before two enormous dogs finally barked in response.
