Chapter 111

After the cash had been counted, Wu Xiaojiu waited less than two minutes before receiving a call from Han Qianduo.

It was the phone number the adjutant had deliberately left on Han Qianduo’s front gate after cleaning out his entire house.

Wu Xiaojiu was still rather confused when he answered, but the moment he heard that familiar voice and tone, he panicked and tossed the phone to Bo Suihan.

“You two have completely lost your minds! I took care of you in every way possible in that presidential suite at the hotel. Ask yourselves honestly, if I hadn’t fed you every meal, would you even have survived until now?

“And you, Bo Suihan, you Evil-Faced Rakshasa! You trained me every day there, cursed me out, even whipped me from time to time. Did I complain even once? Fine, I did complain, but when you were really in trouble, didn’t I, as your brother, help you out?”

Bo Suihan listened to the voice on the other end, his brows knitting together.

“What did you help me with?”

“Did I not help you get out of trouble? Back then, those shards of glass nearly sliced your throat open. If I hadn’t helped prove your identity, would you still be alive right now?”

Han Qianduo was extremely agitated. Even through the phone, it sounded like he was jumping up and down over there.

“I don’t care. You two hurry up and bring my money back. I finally inherited that sum from the old man, and before I could even enjoy myself, your people cleaned me out. You two are robbers!”

Only now did Bo Suihan truly understand what Huo Mang’s blunt words had meant.

He rather approved of the adjutant’s direct approach, but none of it showed on his face. In an excellent mood, he started leading Han Qianduo in circles.

“What nonsense are you spouting? What people? The two of us don’t have any. We just escaped from your father’s men and are currently sitting in the suburbs in a daze. Can you stop slandering us?”

“Slandering you!” Han Qianduo’s voice sharpened at once. The poor fool’s brain couldn’t turn the corner; whatever he believed was what he believed. He immediately howled as though he had suffered some enormous grievance. “You robbed my entire house! My family’s company is in chaos too. The directors inside suddenly said the shares in my hands aren’t enough, and on top of that, my dad has been locked up. They want to buy back all the shares in my hands and hand the company over to someone else’s family. Are you saying you had nothing to do with all this?”

Bo Suihan knew about the money, but he truly had not been involved in the company. Still, Bo Suihan was a sharp man. With one turn of his mind, he knew this was Huo Mang paving the road for him. He gave a soft, indifferent laugh into the phone and said, “Han Qianduo, do you think you’re smart?”

The other end froze for a second. Han Qianduo answered, as if it were only natural, “No.”

“Then do you think you can run a company well? This was your father’s life’s work, and it was also the only thing your father obtained after killing dozens of people from the Bo Family.”

Han Qianduo fell silent. His voice turned mumbling and hesitant.

“What he did really wasn’t right. If I’d been there, I definitely wouldn’t have let him do it. But this company really is my only source of income. If you take the company too, how am I supposed to live?”

Bo Suihan looked up at the starry sky. Feeling that his hand was a little cold, he slipped his free hand into Wu Xiaojiu’s pocket. His voice, when he spoke into the phone, still carried a smile.

“Work hard, then. My whole family was wiped out, and all our property was swept away by your father. I was only a child back then, and yet I’m living just fine now. Why can’t you? This is what your father owes me, and what you, as his son, should repay.”

Han Qianduo stammered, seemingly feeling that Bo Suihan had a point. For a long while, he could not say anything.

“You’re right. I can’t refute that. Then what about this house? I can’t be left without even a place to live, can I?”
“The house will be transferred into my name, just like the company. So many people end up on the streets and still manage to live. Han Qianduo, you’ll just have to figure it out too.”

Every word Bo Suihan spoke carried a smile, yet every word drove Han Qianduo further toward a dead end.

Wu Xiaojiu could hardly keep watching. His brows drew together as he reminded him in a low voice, “He’s an idiot. If you take all his money, the company, and the house, what’s he supposed to live on?”

Bo Suihan covered the phone receiver with one hand and turned to look at him.

“I don’t want to do this either, but I have to answer to the spirits of my parents, my sisters, and my brother in heaven. His father was ruthless. The only reason I didn’t learn from his father and dismember him is because I want to live with you, not squat in prison. There’s a saying: he may escape the death penalty, but he can’t escape punishment. Han Qianduo still has to suffer a little flesh-and-blood pain.”

When he turned back again, the call on the other end had already been disconnected.

Less than two minutes later, the adjutant sent a message.

“Over at the Han Family’s company, the acting CEO and the other three executives are our people. Once the Han Family fell, they began collecting shares from all sides. Originally, the Han Family refused to sell and wanted to struggle to the bitter end, but for some reason, they suddenly changed their minds a few minutes ago. The Han Group is ours now.”

The final hammer fell.

Han Fu had been taken to Six Gates, all his trusted aides were dead, and Han Qianduo was an idiot. Now the company, the house, and the money had all been taken by Bo Suihan.

The Han Family no longer had any chance of turning things around.

It was karma coming full circle. Though it could never compare to the massacre that had wiped out his family back then, they had still received the retribution they deserved.

The knot of hatred that had been lodged in Bo Suihan’s heart for more than twenty years finally came undone today, on the outskirts of Moscow.

Bo Suihan nodded to the adjutant and tightened the cloak around him, the one that symbolized the Dragon King.

Holding Wu Xiaojiu’s hand, he stepped onto the luxury jet. With the greatest burden in his heart finally lifted, even someone as powerful as Bo Suihan was left feeling lost for a moment.

The cabin door slowly closed, but Bo Suihan stood frozen in place for a long time. Only when Wu Xiaojiu poked him in the chest did he snap back to himself.

He lifted his arms and hugged Wu Xiaojiu, rubbing against him again and again, clingy and reluctant to let go.

“You feel lost, don’t you? You don’t know what to do next. You’ve been tangled up in this matter for too long, so for a moment, you can’t tell whether it was trapping you, or you were trapping yourself in it.”

Wu Xiaojiu patted his back, his voice growing gentler with every word. The plane slowly took off, its destination the rooftop of the Han Group building.

“But people have to grow. Pulling yourself free from this is growth. We’ve repaid grievances with justice and avenged hatred with vengeance. I believe your parents’ spirits in heaven will be at peace for you.”

Bo Suihan buried his head against his shoulder, dampening a small patch of fabric.

In a muffled voice, he nodded and gave a soft hum of agreement.

“It’s so good to have you with me. I know that whether you went to the bureau or solved cases with Wang Qiang, from beginning to end, it was all for me. All because of me.”

Wu Xiaojiu was moved by Bo Suihan’s sincerity.

And how could Bo Suihan not have been moved by his?

In truth, Lin Yang had not been entirely right. Wu Xiaojiu’s outward qualities were what attracted Bo Suihan, but what truly made the two of them fall in love was their sincerity and the way they gave themselves to each other.

However long the jet flew, that was how long they held each other.

In the end, it landed on the rooftop of the Han Group building. Hand in hand, the two of them looked down at the skyscrapers, the streets, and the narrow streams below.

They still had a very long road ahead of them.

May we both keep ourselves whole when the great waves rise.
