Chapter 92
Chapter 92
The situation reached a stalemate.
Both sides had a grip on the other’s weak spot.
Qi Heng was gnashing his teeth, but he didn’t dare make a rash move. He was terrified Xiaoyu would get hurt, and that his true love would cut ties with him for good.
“Give me fifty percent of the shares, then transfer me a few hundred million. Your dad will let your mother come back, move out, and never bother the two of you again. How about it?”
Before he knew it, Qi Heng’s tone had turned humble.
Seeing that he still hadn’t grasped the situation, Qi Jiao immediately clapped his hands. Several bodyguards pinned Xiaoyu down and turned to walk out with her.
“Don’t move! She’s the eldest young lady of the group! You bunch of hired cattle and horses think you’re worthy of touching her?”
Qi Heng stomped his foot in panic. The bodyguards exchanged glances, and their steps paused.
Xiaoyu lifted her face. She had thought she was done for, but who would have guessed this foolish old man really did treat her grandmother and mother as his true loves?
She immediately began sobbing, sniffling and crying with tears streaming down her face. With her delicate, innocent looks, she appeared pitiful beyond words.
“I knew an illegitimate daughter like me could never be accepted in proper society. If I’d known this would happen, I never should have come looking for Grandpa, and I never should have dreamed of returning to Qi Group as the eldest young lady. Technically, I really should be enjoying the Qi Family’s wealth and glory, but if Brother won’t accept me, then I should withdraw on my own.”
Qi Jiao raised a hand to stop her from continuing, his face twisting.
“What the hell are you talking about? Don’t come here trying to claim random family ties with me and mess up the Qi Family’s generations. Besides, strictly speaking, with my dad and your grandmother, you and I have nothing to do with each other!”
The moment Xiaoyu heard him say that, she grew anxious. To her, any identity could be denied-except the precious, exalted title of eldest young lady of the Qi Family.
That could not be faked. If not her, then who?
Besides, who said Qi Heng only had an affair with her grandmother?
Seeing Xiaoyu about to speak, Qi Heng instinctively felt that disaster was coming. He wanted to stop her, but she had already begun laying out the truth.
“I didn’t lie to you, Brother. Actually, Grandpa likes Mom too. Xiaoyu is the product of the love between Grandpa, Mom, and Grandma. Xiaoyu and Brother are related by blood.”
Qi Jiao froze for a while, feeling as if his brain had only become even more tangled.
Qi Heng, feeling utterly disgraced, waved the beauties in the room away.
He sat on the sofa, looking at Qi Jiao with a heavy expression, and softened his tone.
“I can give up the shares, but you have to prepare some cash for me. I won’t ask for much. Transfer five hundred million to my card every month, and we’ll call this settled. How about it?”
“In your dreams! You fool around outside, and you still want me to work for you so you can keep living carefree? After what you’ve done to my mom, we might as well all go down together.”
Qi Jiao clawed at his hair.
Unable to take it anymore, he suddenly stood up and slapped the champagne tower over. Shards of glass crackled and burst, some flying onto Qi Heng.
The old man stood up again, trembling as he stomped his foot.
The atmosphere grew tense once more.
Then the door to the private room was pushed open again.
“Xiaoyu! I told you to bring Grandpa home. Where are you all?”
A gentle, soft female voice drifted in. A rather beautiful, tender-looking woman with her hair swept into a side bun stood in the doorway.
Qi Heng closed his eyes and sat down heavily.
“Your dad won’t ask you for money anymore. Can you let them go?”
As expected, the moment she showed her face, she was instantly taken down.
Before the woman could react, she was restrained by the surrounding bodyguards. When she turned her head, she saw Xiaoyu. The two looked at each other, and the woman’s face was filled with confusion.
“Fine. You let my mom go first.”
Qi Jiao stood up and spoke to Qi Heng.
Forced into a corner, Qi Heng turned and called the island.
After another two minutes of communication, Qi Jiao confirmed his mother’s return flight and received a recorded video as proof. Only then did the tension on his face ease slightly.
But for the sake of safety and secrecy, they would still wait until his mother had landed safely before exchanging hostages.
Just as both sides reached an agreement…
Qi Jiao’s men were escorting the two people out when the woman’s phone rang.
The bodyguards paused. After the scolding Qi Heng had given them earlier, they had no idea whether they should keep moving or wait until this woman, who was technically Madam Qi, finished her call.
“Give me the phone. I’ll answer it for you.”
Qi Heng reached out, but the woman instinctively took a step back and waved him off with a smile.
“It’s nothing important. I’ll just hang up.”
As she spoke, she took out her phone and was about to press decline, but Qi Heng snatched it from her hand.
Her smile stiffened, inevitably making him suspicious.
But when he saw the caller ID, that flicker of doubt vanished at once.
“Oh, it’s Yuxiang. What’s there to be embarrassed about? Perfect timing. Tell Yuxiang not to come over, and there’s no need to prepare dinner for you and Xiaoyu either.”
With that, under the woman’s horrified gaze, Qi Heng pressed answer.
He even turned on speakerphone.
“If that damn man isn’t coming home for dinner, then don’t bother calling him. Isn’t it nice with just the three of us as a family?”
The beginning sounded perfectly normal.
Qi Heng’s suspicions disappeared completely. He lifted his eyes provocatively toward Qi Jiao.
His expression seemed to say: I have true love, and you don’t. Cold, hard money can’t soothe a lonely heart.
Before he could finish gloating, the person on the other end quickly continued, “Hurry up and have Xiaoyu come back. The plastic surgeon we contacted for her is already here. After all, she’s the gene baby extracted from our bone marrow. The older she gets, the more her features resemble both of ours.
“And hurry up and divorce your husband. That old man even kidnapped his legal wife to threaten his son for our sake. How ruthless is that? But you can tell he’s made up his mind to join our Women’s Kingdom. Our dream of marrying into wealth is right in front of us!”
Qi Heng’s hand trembled. The phone slipped from his grip and smashed against the leg of the table. The screen shattered, completely ruined, and the call naturally disconnected.
“What does that mean?”
Everyone present shrank in on themselves like quails. Not a single person dared to speak.
Even Wu Xiaojiu, who had been acting so fierce just moments ago, hid behind Qi Jiao and whispered to him.
“Your dad is so miserable.”
He finally understood why the System’s side mission title was called, “My Mistress’s Mistress Isn’t My Mistress, But I Like This Mistress, So I Want Him to Be My Mistress.”
There had been far too much information packed into that call. Now Wu Xiaojiu couldn’t help feeling a little sorry for Qi Heng.
The old man had been busy for over half a month, thinking victory was already in his grasp. Who would have thought that not only would someone interrupt his rhythm, but the true love he had fantasized about would also shatter at this very moment?
Qi Heng staggered a few steps.
Ignoring the pain, he collapsed right into the shards.
“What do people even live for in this life?”
The woman and Yu’er also felt like crying but had no tears. In their hearts, they cursed the old man for being clueless and having no sense at all.
They had told him not to answer. Not to answer. It was a spam call.
But no, he just had to be curious. And now look what happened. Nobody was happy.
Qi Jiao’s face shifted from solemn to speechless.
He looked down at Qi Heng from above, his brows tightly furrowed.
“What a failure. You’ve lived your whole life, and this is what you’ve made of yourself in the end. Even I feel ashamed for you. Once my mother comes back, our father-son relationship is over.”
Qi Heng cried and reached for the hem of Qi Jiao’s clothes.
“I was wrong. Is it too late to regret it now?”
Qi Jiao looked at his broken, hollow expression and said nothing for a while. In the end, he simply pulled his clothes free.
Then he turned and left with the bodyguards and Wu Xiaojiu.
