Chapter 100
Chapter 100
Their isolated, helpless situation did not last long.
After all of Han Fu’s men climbed through the window and entered the room, Bo Suihan’s walkie-talkie crackled to life.
Through the static, a small voice came from the other end.
“We’re all in position outside the door. At your command, we can break in immediately.”
There was no questioning Long Aotian’s strength. Bo Suihan definitely had more men than Han Fu did, and if the two sides really fought, Han Fu’s subordinates would be no match for them.
Besides, Bo Suihan had handled Han Fu’s dozen-plus men with ridiculous ease. It had been nothing more than a warm-up.
The problem was that all of Han Fu’s men were present-everyone except Han Fu himself.
Bo Suihan’s body was drawn taut. Wu Xiaojiu was leaning against his chest, so he could clearly feel how tense Bo Suihan was. Not only was his entire back stiff, even his spine seemed locked tight. His gaze was fixed firmly on those ten men, without shifting for even an instant.
Even Bo Suihan’s breathing had quickened considerably. He seemed to be standing at the edge of some emotion. Wu Xiaojiu couldn’t bear seeing him like this, so he obediently burrowed his head out from Bo Suihan’s arms, wanting to say a few words of comfort.
“Can you stay here by yourself? I promise you’ll be safe and sound, without a scratch on you, but I have to go out and handle something.”
But before Wu Xiaojiu could speak, Bo Suihan lowered his head first. The emotions in his eyes were intense and unfamiliar.
Without waiting for Wu Xiaojiu to say anything else, Bo Suihan squeezed his hand, then quickly laced their fingers together before immediately getting to his feet.
Just as Han Fu’s men were about to reach Han Qianduo, Bo Suihan left the walkie-talkie with Wu Xiaojiu. Without a word, he rose from the blind spot in the concealed area and strode outside.
On his way, he casually pinched a shard of broken glass from the window. Before Han Fu’s men could react, Bo Suihan sent it flying straight at the eye of the man leading them.
A perfect hit!
Hidden in the blind spot, Wu Xiaojiu had no way of knowing what was happening. He only heard a scream, followed by a relentless stream of furious curses ringing in his ears.
[Host, what do we do now? Long Aotian is clearly throwing himself to the wolves, but our Affection Points still haven’t reached 100%. That interaction just now raised Long Aotian’s Affection Points to 99.9%. We’re only one final push away from success!]
[What are you, System, Pinduoduo? Why does every capture target always leave one tiny bit unpaid? The point is, I don’t have any tricks left right now. Didn’t you see Long Aotian get tied up by that ten-man squad? They’re holding glass and about to cut his face. If I go out now, isn’t that just asking to die?]
That was right.
Bo Suihan’s critical strike had instantly maxed out the ten-man squad’s rage at 100%.
On top of that, after delivering that one critical hit, he made no further moves and allowed himself to be captured, which also dispelled the ten-man squad’s doubts.
At that moment, the leader had him pinned to the floor, a shard of glass pressed against Bo Suihan’s carotid artery. The two of them were currently “negotiating” back and forth.
The leader’s tone was awful. He was in a state of violent fury after taking that critical hit, and the intense pain made even the hand holding the shard tremble. When he spoke, his voice was vicious. “Kid, how do you want to die? Should I slice open your artery with this glass, or should I use it to sever the tendons in your hands and feet first, then cut your wrists?”
“Cutting his wrists won’t kill him. Not unless you cut deep enough,” Han Qianduo said from the side, enjoying the show and unable to resist chiming in.
The leader shot Han Qianduo a glare, and he immediately behaved himself.
Bo Suihan’s hair was being yanked back, the fragile veins in his neck throbbing pulse by pulse. With someone holding a shard of glass to him, he looked battered, disheveled, and broken.
But his expression remained calm from beginning to end. Even in his current situation, he was composed and unhurried. He even cooperated by lifting his face and smiling at the leader and his men.
“Take me back to see Han Fu. Your bounty might even double.”
The leader’s face went rigid, Bo Suihan’s attitude infuriating him beyond belief.
Just now, Bo Suihan really had shown guts. He had thrown that piece of glass with every ounce of strength he had, smashing it straight into the leader’s left eye socket and rupturing his eyeball. The pain had nearly sent him through the roof.
In that moment, the agony had made him want to tear Bo Suihan limb from limb on the spot. And now Bo Suihan had indeed fallen into his hands. All it would take was one order from the leader, and Bo Suihan would be reduced to a state that satisfied him.
But this brat had the nerve to keep his spine straight and say that if they brought him alive to the boss behind them, the brothers’ bounty could double outright.
What good was doubling the bounty? His eyeball was gone. To the leader, it was completely useless.
But to the brothers under him, it was a windfall from the heavens, a bloody fortune beyond their dreams.
Han Fu had never expected them to come back alive from this job, so he had offered an astronomical sum. If that amount doubled, then none of them would have to live their lives licking blood from the edge of a blade anymore. They could all go off happily and become law-abiding citizens.
So Bo Suihan’s offer had struck right at what most of them wanted most.
Only the leader hated him so much his teeth itched.
“No! What, whatever this brat says goes? He says double and it doubles? Is the boss his dog or something? I think he’s just trying to trick us into leaving him a sliver of hope. Kill him. Right now!”
His men had already loosened their grip on Bo Suihan’s disheveled hair when the leader suddenly slammed the table and roared, “You won’t do it? Fine, I’ll do it!” As he spoke, he tightened his grip on the shard of glass in his hand and drove it toward Bo Suihan’s neck.
No one present had time to react.
By the time they thought to stop him, it was already too late.
Bo Suihan could feel the chill spreading from the side of his neck. He silently sighed, closed his eyes, and murmured softly,
“I’m done for.”
“Double it! My dad knows him! He has nightmares every day, and his face is always in them. If you catch him and bring him back, forget doubling the bonus-even if it doubled and then doubled again, my dad probably wouldn’t say a single word against it.”
At the critical moment,
Han Qianduo’s bad habit of butting in acted up again.
And it was precisely that shout.
It startled the leader and made him realize that Bo Suihan’s identity was far from ordinary. In his panic, the shard of glass he had swung down exploded in his hand, crushed directly by his grip.
The other mercenaries present all let out breaths of relief.
Their attitude toward Bo Suihan was no longer the same as before. They helped smooth his hair and straighten his clothes. Then several of them dragged Han Qianduo along while the others held Bo Suihan from behind, preparing to jump out the window, step onto their special equipment, get into the car, and flee.
Wu Xiaojiu saw every bit of it clearly.
It was only when Bo Suihan escaped danger, when the men hauled him to his feet, that Wu Xiaojiu barely managed to come back to himself.
His heart felt as if a stone had finally dropped away. When he turned his head, he realized his palm had been gouged with bloody nail marks.
His entire body felt as if he had lost his very soul. He was dazed and out of it.
[Host, your heart rate just spiked to an almost inhuman level. Long Aotian can’t die. You don’t need to be this scared. Everything, absolutely everything, must be within his control.]
Seeing Wu Xiaojiu so tense, the System spoke up in his mind to comfort him.
Wu Xiaojiu patted his own chest to help himself breathe. Only after a long while did he vaguely come back to his senses and force himself to straighten up.
[I know Long Aotian can’t die, but Bo Suihan’s current situation isn’t exactly good either.]
