Chapter 39

The System suddenly spoke in his mind.

Wu Xiaojiu ceased his agitation, frowning as he tried hard to recall the events of that day.

Indeed.

When he cut his throat, he had used every ounce of his strength.

Logically, he should have died instantly with no possibility of survival.

Why did he end up on the other side of the ocean? Even if Wang Xiao had followed the original plan and dumped both Bo Suihan and himself into the sea,

Wu Xiaojiu should by now be resting in the belly of a fish,

not standing alive and well in some Eastern European country.

Thinking of this, Wu Xiaojiu hastily touched his neck.

He found the circular scar still there, already scabbed over, the skin around the scab bleached pale from the seawater.

“You didn’t reincarnate, nor did you swap souls with anyone. Someone saved your life.”

Wang Xiao?

It couldn’t be. That cut was real, deeply slashing the skin of his neck.

After Wu Xiaojiu fainted, he had even experienced his life flashing before his eyes.

If not for a titan in the medical field, Wu Xiaojiu would have never survived.

Wang Xiao was an external detective, skilled in investigation and autopsy, but he never mentioned knowing how to treat illnesses or perform surgeries.

“Don’t let your imagination run wild. It was actually Bo Suihan’s master who came down from the mountain to save you, or rather, saved you as an afterthought.”

“His master came down?”

“Yes, this time the disturbance was huge. All nine masters descended. After healing you, they had someone dump you here. Stripped you clean, leaving you in your current state.”

Upon learning this, Wu Xiaojiu started wandering along the beach.

His previously calmed mood surged once again, and now he began to worry about the Wu Family on the other side of the ocean.

He feared that Bo Suihan’s masters might take action against his own family.

“What’s the current situation of the Wu Family and Wang Xiao? His masters are all-powerful; they must know about the plan Wang Xiao and I discussed.”

“They have always doted on Bo Suihan, treating him as their heir. Tsk, damn it! Could the Wu Family be bankrupt by now and Wang Xiao dead?!”

After this outburst,

the System remained silent for a long time.

Wu Xiaojiu was like an ant on a hot pan, tormented internally.

He didn’t notice at all that during this time, a circle of people had gathered around him.

“Whoa, handsome guy, Hello.”

An old London Cockney accent, with a heavy American accent.

A smooth, fragrant arm draped itself lightly over Wu Xiaojiu’s shoulder.

A tall, blue-eyed blonde beauty, even taller than him, smiled with her eyes curved at him.

“Want a drink?”

A full glass of whiskey was pushed in front of him, and Wu Xiaojiu’s lips caught a whiff of alcohol.

Nearby, several other blonde-haired, blue-eyed beauties immediately egged him on, shouting, “Drink quickly! Come on, come on!”

Despite such a heart-pounding, eye-catching scene, Wu Xiaojiu remained completely unmoved.

He pushed the whiskey aside, and with tears welling up in his eyes, he grasped the Blonde Beauty’s hands.

“You speak Chinese.”

“That’s right. I studied abroad in your country when I was little, had a tutor, so I had to learn.”

The Blonde Beauty beamed, placing the whiskey back near Wu Xiaojiu’s lips.

“I’m not drinking. I have something more important. Can your phone make international calls? I want to call my country.”

The Blonde Beauty tilted her head, tapping the glass with her long nails.

“Of course I can make a call; I’m not so stingy as to begrudge the call charges.

But handsome, there’s an old Chinese saying, ‘courtesy demands reciprocity.’ When you ask something of me, you should first fulfill my request.”
Wu Xiaojiu nodded gratefully.

He grabbed the glass of whiskey and, without regard for appearance, tilted his head back and downed it in one gulp.

The whiskey was high-proof, and the drink seared his stomach.

He coughed a couple of times, unaccustomed to the burn.

But that only made the girls around him laugh even louder.

“So cute.”

Watching the empty glass, the Blonde Beauty laughed.

“Now can I borrow your phone?”

“I can, but now I have another request. Since you can drink so much, could you accompany me to a drinking party? I need a boyfriend to save face.”

“Ah, no no no, I still have things to do. Just lend me your phone so I can make a quick call, then we go our separate ways, okay?”

Wu Xiaojiu had no free time for some drinking party.

He quickly waved his hands in refusal.

But the Blonde Beauty didn’t seem willing to let him go. She tilted her head and looked at him with dissatisfaction.

“They say luxury cars, beautiful women, and whiskey are the three treasures to conquer the world. You now have whiskey and a beauty; you’re just missing a luxury car to complete the set. Don’t be so timid-come have fun with us.”

Wu Xiaojiu felt like Tang Sanzang stumbling into the Spider Cave.

Because on the beach, the several beauties were wearing bikinis.

Wu Xiaojiu truly had no courage to look. He kept his eyes downcast, crouched lower, and frantically waved his hands.

But the beauties were stronger than him. They dragged and pulled him along, crowding him all the way to the roadside.

The group stopped in front of a sports car.

The Blonde Beauty got in and patted the passenger seat, gesturing for Wu Xiaojiu to get in.

But Wu Xiaojiu didn’t have the nerve. The women were so enthusiastic that he instead suspected they were human traffickers.

After all, the other side of the ocean wasn’t so peaceful, and the people there could be as twisted as the perverts you hear about in India. As an East Asian man with little body odor and sparse hair, he was exactly the type that perverted cannibals were after.

As the saying goes, there’s no such thing as a free lunch. If people are overly friendly, they must have ulterior motives.

The more Wu Xiaojiu looked at the beauties, the more they seemed like demons and monsters.

He bolted for the sea, but someone grabbed him by the hair and pinned him onto the car hood.

“What are you running for, handsome? You’ve got nothing better to do, so why not have some fun with us? As long as you come to the party, you’ll get more than just a phone call-there’ll be plenty of perks for you.”

Pinned down, Wu Xiaojiu grimaced and struggled back and forth.

But he was still forcibly stuffed into the trunk. He curled up during the ride, listening to the women’s laughter and shrieks from up front.

Wu Xiaojiu resentfully scratched at the trunk’s leather lining.

It felt like they’d been driving for over ten minutes when the speeding sports car suddenly screeched to a halt.

“Hello, baby. I’ve brought you a treasure. Didn’t you say a few days ago that a big client came who likes East Asian bodies and faces?”

The trunk was tapped, then abruptly opened.

Wu Xiaojiu was huddled in a ball, helplessly watching as he was yanked out. The Blonde Beauty tapped him on the head.

Then she grabbed Wu Xiaojiu’s face and showed it off to another East Asian person.

“He’s good-looking, fair-skinned and delicate. As expected, the ones you randomly snatch are pretty. This one’s commission is thirty thousand US dollars. After the client inspects the goods, the money will be transferred to your card immediately.”

The deal was straightforward. Wu Xiaojiu was hoisted up and quickly sold.

He was locked in a cage like an animal.

It happened so fast it was unbelievable. The Wu Family’s eldest young master, once worth tens of millions, was sold for a mere thirty thousand.

And thrown into the illegal trade.
