Chapter 77
Chapter 77
How could Long Aotian possibly run away before a fight?
Long Aotian only grew braver the more he fought.
You know cockroaches? Long Aotian was basically an insanely OP cockroach-badass and impossible to kill.
Sure enough, only a few seconds later, the call ended.
Bo Suihan walked back into the police station. Seeing him swagger in like that, the Village Chief simply assumed he was still trying to bluff him like before.
“Done with your call? Fine. I’ll wait here with you. But the bet needs a deadline. If your people aren’t here by noon today, you lose.”
Bo Suihan didn’t hesitate at all. He nodded and agreed on the spot.
Seeing him agree so readily, Wang Qiang could no longer sit still.
“Are you crazy? He’s just some rich second-generation brat. How could the people he called possibly get here so quickly? Besides, it’s already 10:11. Even if people came from the other villages, they’d need time to get here. How could they possibly arrive before twelve?”
Wang Qiang was like an ant on a hot pan. Although he couldn’t stand that bastard Bo, at the very least, there was nothing evil about this rich heir. He had not really abused Wu Xiaojiu mentally or physically either, so as a financial backer, he had done a decent job.
Wang Qiang was not exactly eager to see him lose the bet, and he paced in circles with anxiety.
Wu Xiaojiu, on the other hand, looked perfectly calm. He sat there with an indifferent expression and even turned around to comfort Wang Qiang instead.
“It’s fine. He’s the one who’ll kneel, not us. What’s there to be afraid of?”
Despite how calm he looked, he truly was not the least bit anxious inside.
Worry about Long Aotian? Worry about the chosen son of this world? Wouldn’t that be insane?
Forget the Village Chief. This entire world, this whole book, revolved around Long Aotian. Its very purpose was to let Long Aotian show off.
How could it possibly let Long Aotian get humiliated?
Wu Xiaojiu shook his head with a smile, thinking the idea was idiotic.
“The Village Chief has a lot of authority around here. He’s above everyone else. He can put anyone through the wringer if he wants. Impressive as hell.”
The two whispered to each other. The young man beside them wanted to join in too.
With blood still leaking from his head, he squeezed in between them.
“I think this is risky. The Village Chief has a pretty good relationship with the chiefs of the surrounding villages. If he doesn’t want them to come, all it takes is one phone call.”
After saying that, the young man glanced around. Seeing the Village Chief staring at him the whole time, he immediately clamped his mouth shut on whatever else he had wanted to say.
Hearing him say that, Wang Qiang grew even more panicked. He stood up anxiously and began pacing back and forth inside the room.
This continued until eleven o’clock.
By eleven, there was still no movement outside the door. Forget people from other villages arriving-the dirt road through the corn stalks did not even have a stray cat or dog on it.
It was terrifyingly quiet outside. A crowd of villagers sat around the entrance of the police station holding farm tools.
The atmosphere was so oppressive it was frightening, like a man-eating beast.
Later, even Senior could no longer keep his composure. Watching time slip away bit by bit, the last of his confidence in Bo Suihan turned into worry.
Several times, he tried to persuade Bo Suihan to apologize, saying he could go lower his head to the Village Chief too, and maybe this matter could be let go just like that.
But Bo Suihan’s attitude did not soften in the slightest. He only sat there without saying a word. Whenever asked, he just kept shaking his head.
The Village Chief, meanwhile, gradually grew more confident. He decided this had been nothing but an empty bluff from the start. At first, he had sat upright and proper, but by the end, he had crossed one leg over the other. He was even in the mood to smoke and pass cigarettes around, while everyone inside the police station harbored their own thoughts.
Until the time reached 11:59.
Seeing that the outcome was set, and that the cornfield outside was clean and still without even a speck of dust rising, the Village Chief slapped the table and leisurely stood up.
His face was flushed with satisfaction, every bit of him brimming with smugness.
The look he gave Bo Suihan was full of contempt and disdain. The corner of his mouth lifted slightly as he stared at the dried blood on the left side of Bo Suihan’s face.
He said smugly, “Young man, if you don’t have the ability or the strength, don’t go around making such big boasts. See? Now your own bragging has blown up in your face. I won’t ask for anything too excessive. We’ll just do exactly what you said in the bet earlier.”
“Hold on.”
Bo Suihan raised a hand. At the same time, the clear sky suddenly darkened, and in an instant, storm clouds gathered overhead.
“What is it? Don’t tell me you’re trying to back out?”
The Village Chief’s face darkened as well. He lowered his head, the smile still on his face, but it had turned cold.
Seeing the Village Chief’s reaction, the villagers outside the station stood up too, clutching their farm implements.
They looked very much like they were ready to gang up on Bo Suihan.
“I just wanted to remind you that there’s still one minute left in the bet.”
Bo Suihan tapped the watch on his wrist. The Village Chief looked at him with undisguised contempt.
“One minute? Stop trying to stall. There’s no one on the main road outside, and the sky is covered in storm clouds. Even if the person you called could fly, they still wouldn’t make it.”
No sooner had he finished speaking than the outside suddenly erupted into noise.
A bolt of lightning struck down. Fierce winds howled outside, but amid the urgent roar of the wind came the distinct sound of a helicopter’s propellers making an emergency landing.
“Who says? Haven’t I arrived?”
A voice blasted from an electronic megaphone, ringing through the air like thunder. The villagers outside all looked up, and when they saw what was above them, their faces changed drastically.
Wang Qiang, Senior, the young man, and Wu Xiaojiu all curiously moved closer to the window. They raised their heads and looked out together.
They were instantly dumbfounded.
Storm clouds filled the sky, lightning flashed, and thunder rumbled. Though it had not begun to rain, the air was already heavy with dampness.
A red helicopter, like a sacred lotus of flame, was buzzing as it descended.
The helicopter was not far from the ground, so the suction was not strong. A woman stood at the helicopter door, dressed in a tight leather outfit and holding a large megaphone. Her big wavy hair was whipped in every direction by the wind. She was bold, dazzling, and beautiful.
“What!”
The Village Chief had never expected this turn of events.
He rushed all the way to the door in agitation. When he tilted his head up and saw the person in the sky, he nearly lost his soul from fright.
“Bo Suihan! Your Third Master and Fifth Master are here to back you up. Happy now?”
The woman laughed lightly. Wearing sky-high heels, she showed no fear at all as she stepped one foot out of the helicopter door. As if walking on flat ground, she grabbed the frame of the helicopter entrance and spun around once.
The megaphone in her hand crackled with static. Before long, the helicopter landed beside the station.
Helicopters were a rare sight. The villagers all ran over to watch. Although Bo Suihan had also flown one here, he had not displayed it in front of the villagers.
As soon as the aircraft stopped steadily, a row of men in black surrounded it inside and out. The woman in leather followed closely behind them, her smile brazen and brilliant.
The moment she arrived, she blocked Bo Suihan’s path and cheerfully twisted his ear.
“How was the sweetheart I introduced to you? Isn’t she sweet and adorable? Your master met that old flame overseas while performing rituals. How did your chat with her go?”
Bo Suihan was clearly unused to such intimacy and raised a hand to lightly block her.
When Wu Xiaojiu heard her mention Bo Suihan’s Chosen Woman, his heart clenched hard, and he could not help looking over.
“Average.”
“What do you mean, average? You’re so annoying. That young lady has a pretty good impression of you. Oh, right, your Third Master is still waiting inside.”
The woman had only just finished speaking when a female voice came from inside the helicopter.
“You called me here for such a trivial matter? Suihan is far too insensible. Fine, then. Have them come over first. I want to see for myself just how arrogant this Village Chief is.”
