Chapter 30
Chapter 30
No one stays unruly under Long Aotian’s intimidation.
Especially small fry like that burly man.
When he scrambled up from the ground, face covered in blood, his once fierce expression had twisted into a smile.
Clutching his abdomen, he bowed and scraped as he shut the door.
“Sir, you’re busy, you’re busy.”
“You should’ve done that from the start.”
Bo Suihan casually glanced at him, shook the stick he’d just picked up at random, then tossed it aside.
Wang Xiao had already crouched down to inspect the tire tracks.
He found the tracks were fresh, and just as Deaf Man had said, it looked like a single tire had swerved into the ditch.
That had shifted the entire vehicle slightly forward.
Enough to throw all the luggage off the car.
“That checks out. Looks like that tattered blanket was found around here. Everyone, spread out and search around.”
Wu Xiaojiu was the most obedient, like a dog from the kennel, wagging his tail and running off at a command.
Behind, Miss Zhao and Deaf Man reluctantly spread out.
Wang Xiao folded his arms, stared at the first departing figure, and clicked his tongue.
“So stupid. Bo Suihan, you must’ve cultivated blessings for eight lifetimes to meet such a benefactor in this life.”
“Can’t compare to you, Wang Xiao. What the hell are you planning?”
Bo Suihan hadn’t moved the whole time. Only when the figures had grown distant did he turn back.
He scrutinized Wang Xiao.
And the other had shed his earlier act, glaring at him with cold venom.
Smiling like a snake flicking its tongue.
“What are you afraid of? I’m not gay. I’m not here to steal your dream of marrying into a rich family. I was just thinking that Wu Xiaojiu is so stupid, he probably never noticed your plan. That’s why he’s been so good to you.”
“But if I tell him everything right before your plan comes together, Bo Suihan, how do you think he’ll react?”
Wang Xiao leaned against the wall, his smile malicious.
Bo Suihan said nothing. He only walked toward him step by step.
When he reached him, he slammed a punch into the wall beside Wang Xiao’s face.
Cracks instantly split across the wall.
For one brief moment, Wang Xiao felt his ears ring. He knew this was a silent warning.
“Why act like this, Bo Suihan? Only Wu Xiaojiu knows you have heaven-defying abilities, yet he still foolishly believes you’ll stay in this province for money. If I were him, once I learned the truth, I’d probably want to die.”
Wang Xiao chuckled.
Then he got up and started walking out as well.
Just as he moved, Bo Suihan suddenly grabbed his sleeve.
Wang Xiao did not turn around. He only felt a blade press against his neck.
At the place where his shoulder met his neck, it rubbed lightly against his skin.
Bo Suihan’s voice was as cold as a blade.
“I learned quite a few skills on the mountain. This little dagger is enough for me to cut off your head and make sure the severed edge matches the heads from his case exactly. Wang Xiao, do you want to try?”
Wang Xiao laughed.
He half turned around and, ignoring the bloody cut on his shoulder, patted Bo Suihan.
His voice was very light.
“Don’t worry. Even if you kill me, I’ll do everything I can in the underworld to visit Wu Xiaojiu in his dreams.”
“Now that you’ve provoked me, you’ve gotten yourself covered in filth. In this lifetime, even jumping into the Yellow River won’t wash you clean.”
“Bo Suihan, your life is destined to be turned upside down by me.”
After dropping those words, Wang Xiao tried to leave.
Because he felt the grip on his shoulder loosen. Bo Suihan’s guilt was getting the better of him.
But just as he took two steps, the voice behind him pursued him annoyingly once more.
“You’re as starved for love as I am. Wu Xiaojiu also took pity on you. Wang Xiao, if I remember correctly, your family has significant developments in the pharmaceutical field.”
“Are you really not gay?”
Wang Xiao sneered, his body swaying as he walked downhill, raising his hand high and shaking his arm.
“Don’t worry, I won’t compete with you.”
“Not everyone is as starved for love as you are.”
But in the blink of an eye, Wang Xiao found Wu Xiaojiu.
He had planted a small tracker on him long ago, attached to the back of Wu Xiaojiu’s watch.
“Fancy meeting you here. Just in time to help me dig through this pile of junk. Looks like a perfect spot to put the tattered cotton quilt the Deaf Man mentioned.”
When he found Wu Xiaojiu, the other was rummaging through a trash can.
A very bizarre sight.
A noble young master, wearing clothes worth tens of thousands, a watch worth over a hundred thousand, digging through trash.
Wang Xiao walked over and, driven by some impulse, started helping him search.
After searching for a while, they found two bottles and one soda can.
“Not much to show for it. I wonder where that tattered quilt came from. The Deaf Man managed to find a dead body in a pile of garbage-truly incredible luck.”
Wu Xiaojiu was so anxious he scratched his head frantically.
Wang Xiao chuckled at the sight.
“Come on, the place where the Deaf Man’s tire skidded and crashed is at the dog farm. That tattered floral quilt and the dead body are probably near the dog farm too. You came all the way here to search-how could you find anything?”
Wu Xiaojiu let out an “Ah!” and pointed at Wang Xiao’s nose angrily.
“So you tricked me?”
Wang Xiao swatted his hand away and shook his head.
“Of course not. I just deliberately sent you away so I could have a private word with you.”
As he spoke, Wang Xiao pulled Wu Xiaojiu along, walking and looking back, until they reached a secluded alley corner.
“Don’t you think Bo Suihan has been acting strange?” Wang Xiao whispered.
Wu Xiaojiu shook his head. “He’s been the same as usual, except he’s been eating a little less these past few days.”
Before he finished speaking, a knock landed on his forehead.
Wang Xiao looked at him with a face full of irritation, disappointed that he wasn’t catching on.
“Can you not think about trivial things like eating right now? I’m talking about serious matters. I’m a famous detective, I don’t have time to mess around with you.”
“I really didn’t notice. There’s been too much excitement these days; I feel like I’m about to lose it myself. Who has the energy to pay attention to others?”
Wu Xiaojiu pouted, clutching his forehead and complaining loudly.
Seeing his clueless expression, Wang Xiao’s gaze darkened.
He kept muttering to himself, feeling exhausted. There are only two kinds of people in the world who are hard to deceive.
One is the clever ones, the other is the fools.
The former because they can discover the truth in clues, the latter because they don’t understand anything you say.
Wu Xiaojiu belonged to the latter.
Wang Xiao kept giving himself mental cues, finally steadying his mind, and continued to fool Wu Xiaojiu.
“Haven’t you noticed he’s been restless these days? Hasn’t he asked you about the Wu Family’s affairs, like the business dealings between the Wu Family and the Liu Family, Su Family, Qian Family, and Zhao Family?”
Wu Xiaojiu shook his head blankly.
Wang Xiao was slightly stunned, blinking rapidly a couple of times.
But he quickly thought of a countermeasure.
“I’m going to tell you something, and don’t mention it to anyone.”
