“I’m not the damn new husband.”
“Why are you cursing?”
Bo Suihan hadn’t even finished speaking when the girl hurriedly cut him off.
Then she scrambled to the edge of the bed on all fours and stared at the two of them with a strange look.
“You don’t react at all when you’re facing the younger me, but you’re so anxious to make things clear in front of a man. That’s not what a dead-straight guy would do at all. Could it be…?”
Even now, the little girl still had the mood to joke.
Bo Suihan rubbed his forehead in exasperation and started from the beginning.
“Do you remember Feng Jiutian? Her mother was the woman Feng Jiutian was willing to defy her family orders for.”
Wu Xiaojiu did remember that, so he nodded and pointed at the girl.
“If Feng Jiutian was that determined about her mother, how could she have given so little money and let her mother bring her out here to do this?”

Bo Suihan looked over at her. Under his gaze, the girl started trembling.
“Before your mother was ever chosen by Feng Jiutian, all the money she earned went to you, didn’t it? She didn’t keep a single cent for herself. She lived every day on steamed buns. Where did all that money go?”
It wasn’t as if he liked sticking his nose into other people’s business.
He had a very clear impression that the girl’s mother loved her deeply.
According to Feng Jiutian,
her mother would rather drink until her stomach bled than fail to buy the girl a two-tier birthday cake.

The girl bared her teeth at them, then reached out and snatched Wu Xiaojiu’s fallen outer robe.

He just held him and slept until morning.

After a good night’s sleep, he felt refreshed.
Even the phone ringing nonstop by the bed finally got Wu Xiaojiu to answer it when he had some free time.
“Is this Wu Xiaojiu? Something happened at your home. Your sister used a kitchen knife to kill someone. Since you were the only one not at home yesterday, come in and give a statement.”
The moment the call connected, Wu Xiaojiu was still in a good mood.
As the other side called his name, he answered right along.
It wasn’t until the person had gone on and on for several minutes that Wu Xiaojiu finally woke up as if from a dream and realized what they had said.

He thought it might be a scam call, until he saw the familiar number.

He didn’t bother digging into why Qi Jiao, who worried so much about him, could still sound so calm when talking about something happening to the Wu Family.
“What’s wrong?”
Bo Suihan rubbed his eyes and sleepily reached for him.
But Wu Xiaojiu had already hurriedly sat up from the bed. He threw on his clothes and, without even saying goodbye, ran downstairs.
Bo Suihan looked at the empty crook of his arm.

When he finally remembered something, Wu Xiaojiu was already far away. Bo Suihan had no choice but to get up, his upper body still bare, and stand shivering in the cold wind as he shouted down toward the person below.
“Wu Xiaojiu, be careful on the way.”
But below, there was no response at all, and the footsteps grew more and more urgent.
“Buttoning up your pants and not recognizing people afterward.”
Bo Suihan snorted and turned his head aside, lowering his gaze to the scar in his palm.
There were still mottled traces of blood on it. He had deliberately not washed his hands properly so they would stay there.
“Forget it. No point arguing with a heartless bastard.”
The car key was taken away.
Bo Suihan obediently took a taxi home.
Before he even stepped through the villa door, the butler came rushing over in a panic with the landline in hand.
Bo Suihan raised a hand to stop him from speaking.
Wu Xiaojiu’s unusual behavior today had already warned him. A storm was coming.
Calling him on the landline was probably a reminder that the other side knew where he was living now.
Second, it meant they did not want to use the location tracking tied to his private mobile number to pinpoint his address.
This call was not for anything good.
Bo Suihan rolled up his sleeves and reached out to answer.

The voice on the other end had been disguised and encrypted.

There was a one-second silence on the other end.
Apparently, they had not expected him to be this sharp.
After a pause, the voice asked in an extremely stupid-sounding way, “Is there a possibility that I just hate you and don’t know Wu Xiaojiu at all?”
Bo Suihan gave an “Mm.”
Then he said, “If it’s Qi Jiao, I know what you’re thinking. Even if you wanted to hurt me, you still wouldn’t involve Wu Xiaojiu. You like him that much, so we can compete fairly.

The other end fell silent for several seconds.
At last, a few furious shouts came through.
“Bo Suihan! If you won’t let me have an easy time, then I’ll drag you down with me. I know your masters are all helping you deal with that matter.
You have no one beside you. Wu Xiaojiu is your weakness. He’s run into some trouble now, and he’s in my hands. If you want to save him–”
Suddenly, an argument broke out on the other end.
Then came a few clumsy thuds.
Bo Suihan’s fingers froze on the buttons, and he recalled the sight of Wu Xiaojiu leaving in such a hurry this morning.
He realized the person on the phone was not lying.
He let out a low “Mm.”
“All right, Qi Jiao. Since Wang Xiao dares to call me in front of you, that means the person has already been moved. Ask him what conditions he wants.”
