Chapter 76
Chapter 76
The Village Chief’s palm went wet, a subtle, disgusting sensation spreading across his skin.
He looked up in disbelief and met the young man’s shifty, darting eyes. In an instant, he realized this was the other man’s silent act of defiance, and he yanked his hand back in fury.
Seeing the saliva on his palm, the Village Chief felt a wave of revulsion. He wiped it hard against his own pants.
“What father would dislike his own son? Besides, I’m sharp as hell. How else could I become a big brother out in society? Old geezer, let me tell you, even though you ruined your own daughter to put me in power, my heart is still a wild horse.”
As the young man spoke, he shook out his Wangzai T-shirt. He looked unbearably crude.
This look, this foolish act, did not make Wu Xiaojiu laugh again.
He reached out and tugged Wang Qiang’s sleeve, gesturing for him to lean in for a whisper. Wang Qiang lowered his head, and Wu Xiaojiu leaned close to his ear.
“Don’t you think he’s pretending to be crazy? Every single thing he says is steering the conversation toward the Village Chief hurting people.”
Wang Qiang nodded in agreement. To test whether the flashy young man was on their side, he stood up the next second.
“The Village Chief is supposed to be a public servant to the people. I won’t allow you to slander and smear him like this!”
Since the Village Chief had walked in, he had been met with nothing but rolled eyes and insults. This was the first time anyone had spoken up for him, and he immediately looked over with hope written all over his face.
“Do you have any evidence proving the Village Chief harmed someone? If not, I’ll have you locked up for insult and defamation!”
The words “good kid” got stuck in the Village Chief’s throat before he could say them. Looking at Wang Qiang’s righteous expression, he thought to himself that this was practically shoving him into a fire pit.
The moment those words were spoken, the young man’s eyes lit up. He grinned crookedly, his face full of disdain. “Bunch of idiots. The evidence is so obvious and you still can’t see it. Guess I have to step in personally.”
Settled.
All good.
The second Wang Qiang heard that, he knew this was a teammate.
His eyes shone brightly. Then he noticed the flashy young man’s gaze flicking outside.
Just as the young man opened his mouth to issue an order, there was a loud clang. The Village Chief suddenly lunged up and smashed his thermos straight into the young man’s temple.
It happened too fast for anyone present to react. By the time blood came spraying out, everyone finally snapped back to themselves.
Only then did Wang Qiang hurriedly rise from his seat, whip off his jacket, rush over, and press it against the wound at the young man’s temple to stop the bleeding.
“What are you doing? This is the station!”
“He’s talking nonsense! I’m the Village Chief. I have the right to discipline my villagers! Move aside. If he’s spouting nonsense, of course I have to teach him a lesson!”
The Village Chief shouted, then before the young man could speak again, he pushed past Wang Qiang and grabbed the other man by the collar.
Don’t be fooled by how old the geezer was. His strength had not faded at all.
He could even thrash around harder than when he was young.
“Barging into the police station and babbling nonsense, then claiming I’m your father? Who’s your father? You’re an orphan. You grew up without parents, that’s why you have no manners. I’ll teach you a lesson in your parents’ place.”
After the Village Chief called the flashy young man one of his villagers, he had his excuse to throw his weight around. He grabbed the other man by the collar, seized his hair with one hand, and on the floor lay the goji berry water he had spilled when he smashed the thermos. Steam rose from it; one glance was enough to tell it was freshly boiled water poured into the cup.
Without another word, and without the slightest mercy, the Village Chief shoved the young man’s head hard against the floor. There was a sharp sizzling sound.
When he lifted the young man’s face again, the entire face had turned bright red. Even the skin beneath his eyebrows was red and blistering.
“Who gave you permission to come here and make a scene?!”
Bo Suihan could not stand watching any longer. He strode forward in two broad steps. The Village Chief was still in the middle of his attack, and everyone around them had been stunned stupid. No one dared step in to stop him.
Only he was bold enough to step forward and reach out, clamping a hand around the Village Chief’s wrist.
The man slowly exhaled and turned his head.
During that one-sided beating just now, the flashy young man’s blood had splattered across the Village Chief’s face.
Now, though the Village Chief had refined features, his face was smeared with blood. When he saw that the kid who had mocked him earlier was the one holding him back, he laughed through that bloodstained face.
“What, you trying to be a hero? He runs with the streets. What crowd do you run with? A greenhorn brat like you keeps provoking me again and again. You really think I, Shen Ba, don’t have a temper?”
As he spoke, the Village Chief let go of the flashy young man. The blood had not only splashed onto his face, but also onto his body and hands.
Right now, the Village Chief looked like a man drenched in blood. He grinned viciously, reached out, and pinched Bo Suihan’s left cheek with crushing force.
He smeared every bit of that blood onto Bo Suihan’s face.
“Go on, call someone. If you can call over even one Village Chief on my level, I’ll kneel down and call you Grandpa.
But if you can’t, then today, I’m going to beat you until you call me Grandpa. Don’t count on anyone sticking up for you.”
Bo Suihan’s face was covered in bloody finger marks from the pinching. The left side of his face was almost entirely coated in blood, his original skin tone no longer visible.
Even so, he did not dodge a single move the Village Chief made.
Only after the other man finished speaking did he ask, his expression indifferent,
“I don’t want a grandson like you. But if I really do manage to summon someone on your level, then not only will you kneel and apologize to me, you’ll also kneel and apologize to him. And you’ll let him recount every single one of your crimes, exactly as they happened, from beginning to end. Of course, you’ll be kneeling while you listen.”
Long Aotian was Long Aotian.
Even the demands he made were out of the ordinary-utterly domineering.
The Village Chief was so angry he laughed, nodding again and again.
“Fine. I’ll take that bet. If you can’t do it, kid, I’m telling you now, you’re finished!”
Wang Qiang helped the flashy young man back to Wu Xiaojiu’s side.
He had wanted to call an ambulance, but the young man stubbornly refused, insisting no matter what that he had to see the Village Chief kneel down and apologize to him.
Wang Qiang was baffled. How could a rich young master like Bo Suihan possibly have that kind of authority? And based on just a few brief sentences, why did this kid believe him so completely?
The young man’s answer was this:
Bo Suihan’s tone was calm and unhurried, especially like a big boss on TV. He believed that if Bo Suihan said it, he would do it.
Wu Xiaojiu, Wang Qiang, the young man, and Senior sat in a row.
They watched as Bo Suihan raised his hand and made a phone call.
He did not deliberately mute the call. Instead, he put it on speaker and turned the volume all the way up.
So everyone clearly heard the woman’s voice the instant the call connected.
“Address.”
Just one curt word. The woman’s voice on the other end was very pleasant, but for some reason it carried an inexplicable sense of severity.
“Master, aside from asking you to come, I have another request.”
“What could possibly be beyond me if I’m handling it personally? Did you run into serious trouble?”
Bo Suihan turned to glance at the Village Chief, then looked sideways at Wu Xiaojiu.
He raised a hand and waved goodbye at him, then turned his back and walked outside to continue the call.
Wang Qiang did not understand what he meant. The gesture looked a little like fleeing right before battle.
He scratched his head and tapped Wu Xiaojiu on the shoulder.
“What does that mean? Isn’t he calling someone over? Why did he wave goodbye at you?”
