Chapter 108

Bo Suihan was looking at him too, amusement in his eyes, as if he hadn’t taken Ninth Master’s words to heart at all.

“Master, stop teasing him. Wu Xiaojiu is still a kid. He’s at the age where he’ll believe whatever people tell him.”

Ninth Master rubbed her nose. She knew Bo Suihan still thought she was joking with him the way she had when he was little.

But just looking at her disciple’s attitude, the way he shielded this little sprout firmly behind him as if protecting something precious, Ninth Master knew it was time to give up. These two were truly serious about each other.

So she took over the conversation, smiled, and nodded at Wu Xiaojiu.

“I was joking. The others asked me to come down and check you out. I think you’re quite nice. You two can go on over. The rest are waiting for you in the plane.”

Wu Xiaojiu’s face felt like he had a fever, hot and flushed. Before he even fully understood what Ninth Master meant, he hurriedly nodded.

Seeing him like this, Bo Suihan knew he was too embarrassed to think straight. He took Wu Xiaojiu by the hand, but didn’t rush toward the plane. Instead, the two of them walked to a barren corner on the outskirts of Moscow.

Bo Suihan crouched down to tie his shoelace.

A cool breeze blew past, and only then did Wu Xiaojiu finally snap out of his bashful daze. As if a weight had been lifted off him, he let out a breath and shook his head, clearing his nerves a little.

“Don’t be scared. I’m here, aren’t I? No matter how amazing they are, they’re still people.” Bo Suihan paused as he spoke. He lowered his head to look at the bow he had tied in the shoelace, then looked up at Wu Xiaojiu’s awkward expression. Realizing that verbal comfort alone wasn’t much use, he lifted his face and promised, “I promise you, we’ll only meet them this once. Before you’re mentally prepared, I won’t have any contact with them again, okay?”

His voice was gentle, as if coaxing a child.

Wu Xiaojiu couldn’t quite describe how he felt. He really did resist the idea of meeting that group of nine people.

But he also knew Bo Suihan didn’t have his phone, nor any means of communication at all. If those nine people had flown over, that was their own doing, not something Bo Suihan had asked for or wanted.

So he couldn’t blame Bo Suihan for this. He could only accept his own bad luck.

Wu Xiaojiu pouted and nodded.

“Let’s just call today unlucky, then. But what if none of them like me?”

“Then what? They live up in the mountains, working at sunrise and resting at sunset. I’ve already gone down the mountain to the city, living a bitter life of overtime every day. We stopped being the same as before a long time ago. I don’t have to follow their rules too closely anymore. Besides, I told you I like you. It has nothing to do with anyone else. Even if there’s resistance, then I can only disobey my masters’ orders.

“Wu Xiaojiu, you need to have confidence in yourself. I like you more than anyone else does. You’re the sum total of everything I like. Your likeability score ranks first, far ahead of everything else.”

Bo Suihan was still crouching there, his face tilted up as he looked at Wu Xiaojiu. Moonlight spilled into his eyes.

Bo Suihan’s eyes were filled with something.

Wu Xiaojiu was caught completely off guard by those words. He turned his head and covered his mouth hard.

After a long while, he gave a soft, drawn-out “Mm.”

Bo Suihan braced a hand on his knee and stood, then reached out to him.

“We’ll only meet them once. If anything in the conversation makes you uncomfortable, tell me anytime. I’ll take you away.”

With that promise, Wu Xiaojiu settled down considerably.

The flush on his face faded, and he nodded seriously.

“You said it. Pinky swear.”

“Pinky swear.”

The two of them weren’t far from the plane or the aquarium. Ninth Master saw from a distance that they were up to something, while eight heads poked out of the fighter jet. The women stared at Bo Suihan and clicked their tongues.
“Honestly, sons really do stop listening once they grow up. Gets himself a wife and forgets his mother. Back when he went down the mountain, he was sobbing his eyes out and kowtowed to each of us. I thought he couldn’t bear to leave us. And now that we’ve come to see him on our own initiative, he still needs time to get in the mood.”

“Are you crazy? Since when does a mother-in-law compete with her daughter-in-law for attention? The two of them are reunited after a short separation, so of course it feels like a honeymoon. Didn’t you hear the report? After Bo Suihan was taken, it was Wu Xiaojiu who tipped us off. Not only did he tell us where Bo Suihan had been taken, he also concealed Han Fu’s identity information. He protected our disciple’s life and preserved his dignity. Wu Xiaojiu is a decent man. I think he’s not bad.”

“You think he’s not bad? Then let me ask you this. If those two really get together, what happens to the Dragon King Token? What happens to Assassin Pavilion? What happens to the Dragon King Token? Those three things, along with all our heaven-defying skills, have to be passed down to blood relatives. Can the two of them have descendants? They can’t give birth to a damn thing. Are those three things and all our skills supposed to just die out right there?”

Lin Yang was the most vehemently opposed out of everyone present.

That was because, just like the other nine, she had taught Bo Suihan every bit of her own abilities without holding anything back. Bo Suihan was more gifted than she was, had better comprehension than she did, and had even surpassed his teacher.

So Lin Yang, as well as the sect behind her, had placed great hopes on Bo Suihan.

They had also placed great hopes on Bo Suihan’s future descendants.

But now the situation was telling Lin Yang that Bo Suihan was involved with a man, which meant he would have no descendants in the future.

Then who were they supposed to pass their sect’s secret arts on to? That was a serious problem.

“Then let them adopt one. How simple is that? Bo Suihan isn’t our biological child either, is he? He’s better than a biological child, sure, but there really is no blood relation. It’s not a big deal.”

One of the nine waved a hand at her, indicating that these were all minor issues.

The group went back and forth, one person saying this and another saying that, chattering away like a flock of sparrows holding a meeting.

Everyone clung to their own opinion, and no one could convince anyone else. In the end, it was only when the leader made the final decision that they reluctantly quieted down.

“All of you, shut up. Why are you meddling in a child’s affairs? Aren’t you ashamed? Did none of you date anyone when you were young? Can you really not understand how Bo Suihan feels right now? If the two of them are serious, then let them be together properly. If they’re only playing around, then after they break up, we’ll introduce someone else to Bo Suihan. If they get married, then let them adopt a child with good aptitude. Bo Suihan grew up under my watch. He is my child, my darling. Making him unhappy means making me unhappy. Do you all understand?”

Seeing that the leader had spoken, the others had nothing more to say and could only agree one by one.

Even Lin Yang, who had been making the biggest fuss earlier, settled down obediently. After all, their leader was no ordinary person. She was the fiend known in the martial world as the Ghost-Faced Rakshasa. The others had all had some dealings with one another before, more or less, but the leader was different.

If Bo Suihan had not existed, the rest of them might never have been able to exchange a single word with her in their lives.

That alone showed how exalted the leader’s status was.

Wu Xiaojiu and Bo Suihan stayed wrapped up in each other for a while longer.

In the end, seeing that it was already very late and that the two of them had taken up far too much time, they finally walked toward the plane in embarrassment.

To keep Wu Xiaojiu from getting nervous like he had earlier, Bo Suihan introduced the nine people’s identities to him as they walked.
