Chapter 105

Wu Xiaojiu sucked in a sharp breath. He had neither medicine nor tools on hand, but he couldn’t bear to let Bo Suihan suffer for nothing. He gently drew Bo Suihan’s arm over, lowered his head to the two wounds, and blew softly over them again and again.

“That tickles.”

Bo Suihan’s voice was small. Watching what he was doing, he looked even more aggrieved.

“You were clearly the one who played dirty and made them turn on each other, leaving them with heavy casualties. All you did was get shot once and cut once. What are you so wronged about?”

“They were the ones who kidnapped me. If I hadn’t taken the initiative, they wouldn’t have been as kindhearted as I am. You might not even be seeing me right now.”

The more Bo Suihan spoke, the more wronged he sounded. He no longer seemed as full of hostility as before. Instead, it was as if he had shed something unimportant and returned to who he truly was.

“Nonsense. All you do is act pitiful every day. No one falls for that act except me. But were they really that careless? They didn’t even tie you up with rope or anything, just let you swagger around at their side? And in that shootout among themselves, surely not every single one of them died.”

Bo Suihan opened his palm and showed Wu Xiaojiu the cut there.

“They weren’t stupid. They were extremely cautious. First, they demagnetized me from head to toe. Then they blindfolded me, put a sack over my head, tied me up with rope, restrained all four of my limbs, and even put restraints on my head and neck. But I had been holding a shard of broken glass in my palm beforehand. That piece of glass did great work.”

The cut in his palm was short, but very deep. One glance was enough to tell that Bo Suihan had clenched his fist hard to hide the glass, letting the sharp point pierce straight through his palm and leave such a bone-deep mark.

“You really suffered, didn’t you? You went through so much. Did you kill Han Fu?”

Wu Xiaojiu reached out and held Bo Suihan’s hand, lingering over that wound for two seconds. But his thoughts had already drifted far away. As if realizing the question had to be asked, he braced himself and asked whether Han Fu was alive or dead.

Bo Suihan’s endlessly chattering mouth stopped at once, just as expected.

He let out a sigh.

Then he turned away.

His entire body sank back into the darkness. His shoulders curled in slightly, and his whole upper body bent forward.

“Don’t worry. I was just asking. If he’s alive, I’ll go with you and take him to the hospital. If he’s dead…”

Once those five words left his mouth, Wu Xiaojiu racked his brains, but he still couldn’t think of how to continue.

If Han Fu was dead…

What should they do?

Bo Suihan would be a murderer.

What should they do?

Should they call a cop, or hide it and say nothing? Should he think Han Fu had brought it on himself, or that he hadn’t deserved to die?

Faced with all these questions, Wu Xiaojiu was completely at a loss.

His voice and words abruptly stopped. Bo Suihan let out a soft sigh.

“I know this is still too cruel for you. Before I made any decision, I thought of you. I wanted to kill him so badly, to avenge my parents and my brother. But I still left him one breath. The hatred of the past belongs to those who are gone. Han Fu is still alive because I have love now.”

It was unclear whether Han Fu, lying on the ground, had heard him. The moment Bo Suihan finished speaking, Han Fu let out a faint groan.

Wu Xiaojiu’s heart instantly settled back into place. Bo Suihan’s words were like a calming pill to him. He had never imagined that in the face of so much hatred, the tiny bit of love he had given Bo Suihan-almost like charity-had become the most precious treasure in Bo Suihan’s heart.

Emotion surged through him like wave after wave. Unable to hold back the complicated feelings in his chest any longer, Wu Xiaojiu took two steps forward and wrapped his arms around Bo Suihan’s waist.
The other man’s back snapped taut. Bo Suihan sucked in a disbelieving breath, his voice trembling as it was dragged from his throat.

“You… Wu Xiaojiu!”

“Don’t talk. Turn around and look at me.”

He could hear the other man’s heart pounding. Wu Xiaojiu’s own nerves tightened along with it.

The System shrieked in his mind: “Holy crap, Host, you’re too bold! Bo Suihan’s second-round renewed capture progress is at 98%! You’re practically the god of conquest!”

One sincere heart and one heart shattered like glass had been swept together by a broom-like fate, as if they were nothing more than trash.

Bo Suihan suddenly felt his nose sting. His eyes grew damp, and an unprecedented sense of grievance enveloped him.

He had lost too much in this life, and most of what he had gained in exchange was nothing he wanted. Since he was young, he had wanted to fight for power, for money, for love. The first two were easy enough to obtain. Only the last had left him lost from beginning to end.

How was someone who had never been loved supposed to know for certain that he was loved? Bo Suihan had once racked his brains over that question through countless sleepless nights and never found an answer.

Then he saw Wu Xiaojiu-a child from someone else’s family, raised in love and indulgence, carrying a confidence, a capacity to love, and so many other qualities Bo Suihan had never possessed. And someone like that cared about him.

In truth, Bo Suihan had never dared hope that Wu Xiaojiu would love him. From the very beginning, he had always believed Wu Xiaojiu had approached him for some hidden purpose. But as long as Wu Xiaojiu liked him, that was enough. Even if his motives were impure, it did not matter.

Just like what Wu Xiaojiu had asked of him at the start.

As long as you don’t hate me.

The moment he turned around, a tear fell with a soft patter onto Wu Xiaojiu’s face.

The two of them stared blankly at each other.

For a moment, neither of them could put their feelings into words.

“Am I special to you?”

Wu Xiaojiu bit his lips pale before finally asking the question.

Bo Suihan reached out and pressed a finger against his little canine tooth, letting the sharp tip slowly scrape in circles over the pad of his finger.

“My body, my actions, everything about me has always been saying it. Wu Xiaojiu, are you only seeing it today, or was I not obvious enough before?”

Sometimes, no matter how many tears someone shed, their eyes would not turn red. Sometimes, a single tear was enough to make them red as blood.

Bo Suihan seemed to have no color left in him except red. He gazed at Wu Xiaojiu with eyes full of longing, as if the blood throughout his body were emotions surging outward without end.

They swallowed him whole.

“I knew before, but only now… do I feel that it’s different.”

Under his gaze, Wu Xiaojiu lowered his head, his voice barely audible.

Bo Suihan felt his entire body jolt. Then, unable to control himself, he pulled Wu Xiaojiu into his arms.

Their hearts beat in the empty spaces of each other’s chests, separated only by a layer of flesh.

It was such a moving, heart-stirring scene of love finally reaching fruition.

Watching from inside his mind, the System clicked its tongue in amazement.

“Damn. You completely conquered him in one go. Bo Suihan’s affection for you just shot straight to 100%!”

Wu Xiaojiu no longer had the attention to spare for a reply.

The two of them were still wrapped up in each other. They had only just confessed their feelings, and before they could enjoy even a few seconds of warmth, the curtain of the dolphin exhibit was yanked open with a swish.

A beam from a flashlight shone straight onto Wu Xiaojiu and Bo Suihan.

Wu Xiaojiu panicked for a second. On instinct, he pulled back his hand and shot upright.

“Sis, Mom, I’m not dating too early!”

Bo Suihan was very displeased at being interrupted. He reached out and patted Wu Xiaojiu, calling his boyfriend back from that reflexive panic.

Then the two of them looked in unison toward the source of the light.
