Chapter 350
Chapter 350
Even after being exposed, Seventh Master neither blushed nor showed the slightest embarrassment.
Instead, he sounded proud. “Who told you to perform it in front of me without taking precautions? You were practically encouraging me to commit a crime.”
Only then did I realize Seventh Master was even more shameless than the rest of us.
At least we did not deny our actions.
He not only denied responsibility, but turned around and blamed the victims.
The Fat Master stopped arguing, probably because he knew exactly what Seventh Master was like. He said directly, “Fine. It was all our fault. This time, we’ll take precautions. Cover your own eyes and hurry up.”
Seventh Master obediently tied the black cloth over his eyes.
“There. They’re covered. Happy now?”
“I only learned a few things from you. Why are you so stingy? Will it interfere with your Ancestral Master’s ascension or something?”
The two Masters ignored him. Then they took out a rope and began tying him up.
At the sight, I wondered whether this was truly necessary.
To perform a ritual for Lu Yihao, they first had to tie Seventh Master up?
His eyes were already covered. How could he steal anything now?
“Hey, wait. Is this necessary? Is this really necessary?”
“Yes. Absolutely necessary.”
The Thin Master replied irritably, “You’re far too cunning. As long as you’re present, this precaution is essential.”
Seventh Master was speechless and allowed them to tie him to a pillar.
“Fine, fine. Go ahead and tie me up. You’re far too stingy!”
“So damn stingy every single day!”
After restraining him, the two Masters inspected the knots. Only once they confirmed Seventh Master could not steal their arts did they relax and begin the Exorcism for Lu Yihao.
I watched with the intention of learning.
I did not possess Seventh Master’s talent for mastering something after seeing it once.
Ever since entering this field, I had been curious about everything within it.
Everything our ancestors handed down centered on the concept of the Dao. Within human society, it evolved into Mountain, Medicine, Destiny, Physiognomy, and Divination, collectively known as the Five Arts. Yet these arts did not originate from Daoism. They had existed before Daoism was born.
As ancient society changed, the Five Arts developed countless branches. The Six Yao I studied was only one tiny branch of the vast Dao. Seventh Master’s inheritance formed another, and the Meishan Fa Sect was the same.
Throughout history, many Mystic Sect traditions devoted to cultivating the Dao had arisen, but many of them died out during the last century.
Although all three thousand paths of the Great Dao ultimately led to the same destination, anything unfamiliar inspired curiosity.
The Thin Master held a pig-butchering knife and used it to chop the heads off all eight roosters they had just bought.
The blade was thick and heavy. Decapitating a chicken took only one stroke, separating head from body instantly.
Wang Xiaoxiao was a pampered heiress and could not bear the sight. She hurried back into the car.
Once all eight heads had been severed, I assumed they would be used for something. Instead, the Thin Master placed each head back onto its neck.
Then he took red cloth from his bag and wrapped it around the cuts joining the heads and necks.
My curiosity deepened. But the two Masters paid the eight chickens no further attention, leaving them arranged before Lu Yihao.
The eight chickens were naturally dead, lying in a neat row.
Next, the Fat Master produced an enormous piece of yellow cloth. He beckoned Su Yi and me over to help lift Lu Yihao.
Both of us felt disgusted and reluctant, but we still walked over and helped hoist him up.
The two Masters spread out the enormous yellow cloth and wrapped Lu Yihao inside it. They wound it around him several times until he resembled a mummy, then laid him back down.
I returned to my previous position and glanced at Anning. She stood with her arms folded, watching just as intently as I was.
But I soon noticed something wrong.
She had remained in the exact same pose without moving at all. The children’s smartwatch on her wrist flashed with a faint red light, and that light was aimed directly at the two Masters.
My eyes widened as I instantly understood.
Anning was secretly recording them!
I guessed Seventh Master had sent her out to buy a pinhole camera. But this area was remote, so she probably could not find one and bought a children’s smartwatch instead.
Holy shit. That Old Man was persistent!
To steal someone else’s arts, he had exhausted every possible method.
I continued observing the two Masters’ ritual. But they did nothing else for a while. They chanted scriptures I could not understand, each holding a bundle of incense and waving it around Lu Yihao.
I thought the chanting would end quickly. Instead, it lasted nearly two hours and put me straight to sleep.
I dozed in a haze until a thunderous shout from the Fat Master startled me awake.
When I opened my eyes, Anning was still holding the exact same pose.
Then I looked at Lu Yihao. The smell of urine drifted from him. At first, I thought he had wet himself, but I quickly noticed the yellow cloth around him was soaked through.
The two Masters must have splashed it with the urine of a virgin boy.
I had awakened at exactly the right moment. The ritual had just ended. Both Masters looked exhausted, unsurprising after chanting for so long.
But one step appeared to remain. The Fat Master raised a bowl containing water mixed with burned paper ash. He took a mouthful without swallowing, then sprayed it over the eight dead chickens.
Then came the miracle.
Under all our gazes, the eight chickens returned to life.
I almost thought I was dreaming. I clearly remembered they were dead. Their heads had even been chopped off. How could they possibly come back to life?
When I moved closer, I discovered they truly were alive. Their eyes were open, and their wings flapped.
“Holy shit!”
Su Yi paled in shock. “How can they possibly be alive?”
Even Wang Xiaoxiao ran out of the car, her face filled with disbelief.
“The process went relatively smoothly.”
The Fat Master smiled. “The eight Infant Spirits have been separated from his body. They now inhabit these eight chickens.”
His words left us dumbfounded.
“Master, how long can the chickens live?” I asked curiously.
The Fat Master explained, “Poultry naturally lack One Soul. They possess only the Heaven Soul and Earth Soul, but no Human Soul. We killed these eight chickens just now, which allowed them to return to reincarnation. Perhaps they could even have been reborn as humans in their next lives.”
“Now their bodies contain souls again: those of the Infant Spirits. But they still lack the Seven Souls. We’ll release the eight chickens into the mountains. Whether humans catch and eat them, other animals devour them, or they die some other way, we’ll allow nature to take its course.”
“When the chickens die again, the eight Infant Spirits will finally be able to enter reincarnation.”
