Chapter 130
Chapter 130
That night.
I returned to Tianxing Amusement Park.
I knew who had sent that message from the unknown number-it was Anning, Du Yuwei’s sister-but the one who had actually asked to meet me was Du Yuwei.
My feelings were complicated, and I was even a little afraid to see her.
First, her parents had been killed by my father and grandfather. I didn’t know how to face her.
Second, I was afraid of what she wanted from me. She was hurting people now, and I feared she might ask for my help.
While I didn’t want Old Zhao Seven to kill her, I didn’t want her to harm anyone either, and there was no way I would ever help her do so.
With a heavy heart, I climbed over the wall and entered the amusement park.
I told myself I would try to persuade her to stop hurting people. Afterward, I would go to Old Zhao Seven and try to convince him to spare Du Yuwei’s life.
I walked for a long time, but the surroundings remained silent. There was no sign of Du Yuwei.
I wondered why she hadn’t shown herself yet, considering I had been inside for quite a while.
I headed toward the swing set area to search, but I still didn’t see Du Yuwei or the child.
I pulled out my phone, intending to send a message to that unknown number to ask what was going on.
But before I could send anything, a message popped up from that same number.
“There are others here. In the trees. Don’t look up. Run. Now.”
Seeing the message, my heart jolted and my eyelids twitched violently.
Having been through so much, I had finally learned my lesson. I didn’t stubbornly look up to check; without a second thought, I turned and bolted.
I hadn’t even made it ten steps when a sound erupted behind me. I glanced back and saw someone indeed jumping down from a tree.
The man was clutching a knife, chasing after me with a ferocious expression.
Dammit!
Someone really was lying in wait for me above my head!
If not for that text warning, I wouldn’t have stood a chance of dodging if he had jumped down and stabbed me.
I ran for my life. For a moment, he couldn’t catch up, and his expression grew increasingly frantic.
To be honest, I wasn’t as good a fighter as Song Xiaotian, nor did I have Meng Yifan’s physique, but I could run.
Back in school, Meng Yifan loved to fight and was always stirring up trouble. People knew I was with him, so they would beat me up too.
Since I couldn’t win a fight, I could only run. Over time, I got good at it. I had been the school’s reigning champion in both sprints and long-distance races for several years.
After running for a while, I realized the man behind me still couldn’t close the gap. My temper started to flare.
These bastards! They didn’t go after Song Xiaotian; they only knew how to come after me. Did they think I was an easy target?!
“Dumbass!”
I looked back and taunted him, “Come on! Keep chasing me! Come on, come on, try and give your daddy a stab!”
The man cursed as he chased, clearly enraged by my insults.
“You animal! Don’t let me catch you!”
“Screw you!” I shouted back. “If you don’t catch me today, you’re my son!”
Just as the words left my mouth, another man suddenly lunged out from a nearby flower bed.
Caught off guard, I was tackled directly to the ground.
My left arm had been injured before and hadn’t fully healed. The impact made me grimace in agony, the pain nearly making my eyes roll back.
This was truly a case of joy leading to sorrow; I hadn’t expected more than one person to be lying in wait.
Without thinking, I quickly drew the knife from my waist and plunged it into the man’s thigh.
Song Xiaotian had given it to me for self-defense. He called it a combat spike; one thrust would leave a bloody hole in someone.
The man let out a sudden, sharp cry of pain and kicked me hard in the chest with his other leg.
I was kicked away, but I used the momentum to scramble up, intending to keep running.
However, I didn’t get more than a few steps this time before the man who had been chasing me grabbed me and slammed me violently onto the ground.
I thought I was done for. These people were sent by Du Ruhai.
“Run! Why don’t you fucking run now!”
“Keep cursing, you piece of shit!”
Seeing that I was trapped, the man sneered, his face twisted with malice as he approached me with a knife in hand.
“Big brother, I was wrong.”
I immediately backed down. “Let me go and I’ll give you money. Is five hundred thousand enough?”
He hesitated for a moment, glaring at me. “You stabbed my brother, and you think five hundred thousand settles it?”
I felt like crying but had no tears left. “I only have five hundred thousand, damn it! Even if you stab me to death, that’s all I’ve got.”
He thought about it and grinned. “Fine, five hundred thousand it is. When I go back, I’ll just say you escaped.”
I hurriedly asked, “Who sent you?”
He glared and cursed, “You looking for death asking so many questions? Transfer the money now!”
I quickly pulled out my phone and showed him my balance.
He was excited, but I saw more than just greed in his eyes; he had no intention of letting me go.
“Big brother, let me scan your code.”
“Fine, at least you’re sensible.”
He reached into his pocket for his phone.
I didn’t hesitate any longer. I swung my hand and slapped him across the face, then followed up with a brutal kick straight to his crotch.
“You still want money? Tell your mother to burn some for you in the afterlife!”
After cursing him out, I bolted.
The man was driven mad with rage, screaming and cursing behind me.
“I’m going to kill your whole family! I’m going to kill you, you animal!”
Ignoring his shouts, I ran for my life, scanning my surroundings for fear that someone else might jump out.
No one else appeared this time, but a Yellow Talisman came flying toward me.
When the Yellow Talisman was less than a meter away, it suddenly exploded. It felt as if someone had cast a Body-Freezing Spell on me; I couldn’t move a muscle, pinned to the spot.
The moment the Talisman detonated, my eyes felt as if they had been covered by a layer of red gauze. Everything in front of me turned crimson.
Instantly, I sensed Du Yuwei’s fury. I didn’t know when, but she had already possessed me.
Only then did I realize that Du Yuwei had been here all along. These people weren’t here to kill me-they were here to capture her.
As fear gripped me, two more people stepped out.
These two were different from the previous pair. They had an extraordinary aura, appearing to be between thirty and forty years old, and were dressed in very strange clothing.
They weren’t ordinary people!
“Come back with us quietly. President Du told us to try not to hurt you, but if necessary, we won’t be able to hold back. Don’t force our hand.”
The two spoke as they walked toward me.
However, they weren’t warning me; they were warning Du Yuwei.
I looked up and stared at them coldly. I could even feel the feral snarl on my own face-that was Du Yuwei’s emotion.
The two men exchanged a look. One held a Yellow Talisman, while the other carried a Pestle.
I had seen this object before. I had later asked Old Zhao Seven about it, and he told me it was called a Vajra Pestle, a Buddhist ritual implement specifically designed to suppress Evil Spirits. It was incredibly lethal to any Ghost.
One of the men began winding a red string around the Vajra Pestle. Holding the other end, he walked toward me, intending to bind me.
Since Du Yuwei was controlling my body, our minds were linked. I could clearly feel that she wasn’t actually immobilized; she was waiting for the man to get closer.
Soon, the man reached me and prepared to wrap the red string around my body.
Du Yuwei took control and struck, her hand clamping around the man’s throat like a vice.
The man’s eyes widened, his expression instantly flooding with terror. “You weren’t frozen…”
I didn’t say a word. I suddenly grabbed his head and ripped it clean off his neck…
