Chapter 225
Chapter 225
Seventh Master kept pressing down, but he was already beginning to lose control of Song Xiaotian.
The hand seal he had formed was the Five Thunder Seal. It was meant to drive out ghosts, powerful enough to suppress most entities known as Ghost.
But Ding Ruoning’s resentment was too great. She had no fear of that hand seal, nor of the Fulu stuck to her forehead.
Her expression grew more and more savage. She lifted her head and stared at Seventh Master as if she were staring at an enemy.
She had truly lost herself in bloodlust. Now, she even wanted to kill us.
“Ms. Ding, when a person dies, it’s like a lamp going out. You originally still had a chance to be reincarnated. If you keep killing like this, you’ll destroy that chance yourself. Since you’re already dead, everything from your life has nothing to do with you anymore. Why do this?”
I kept trying to persuade her. In truth, those words were exactly the same as what Seventh Master had said to us before.
But back then, we hadn’t listened. For the sake of satisfying our hatred, we had let Ding Ruoning kill four people.
She could no longer turn back, and we could no longer clean up the mess.
“What do you know? You never went through the suffering my family went through. What right do you have to lecture me?”
“At worst, I won’t reincarnate. Once I’ve taken my revenge, my family and I can reunite down below!”
Ding Ruoning grew increasingly violent. Her originally gray-white eyes suddenly turned bloodred.
Seventh Master’s head tilted upward against his will. It was as if an invisible hand in the air had closed around his throat.
“You show me an inch of respect, and I’ll return it tenfold.”
“But since you’re forcing my hand, don’t expect me to indulge you.”
Seventh Master stared at her expressionlessly and chanted, “All born of womb, egg, moisture, and transformation are living beings; each and every one belongs under the jurisdiction of the underworld officials. By the Supreme Lord’s Decree, I summon Cui Jue!”
Ding Ruoning, who had still been in a frenzy, suddenly looked terrified.
Seventh Master withdrew his right hand, formed a seal before his chest, and calmly finished the incantation.
“Retribution in this life and this world, As Urgent as the Law Commands!”
The moment his voice fell, Anning and I stared in shock.
In the originally dim room, a halo of light appeared around Seventh Master. It flickered in and out, as if it were an illusion.
Ding Ruoning let out a miserable scream. In an instant, she turned into a black shadow and was blasted out of Song Xiaotian’s body, casting itself onto the wall.
“Bind!”
Seventh Master shot out a Talisman on the spot, pinning the black shadow to the wall.
The shadow soon vanished.
Seventh Master walked over, tore down the Talisman Paper, crumpled it into a ball, then took a mineral water bottle from his backpack and stuffed the paper inside.
Anning and I hurried over, staring with our mouths open.
This was practically like a magic trick. The ball of Talisman Paper inside the mineral water bottle was actually moving on its own. It bounced up and down, as if trying to escape from the bottle.
An ordinary, unremarkable mineral water bottle had actually trapped Ding Ruoning inside it.
The way she had gone berserk just now, the sheer commotion she caused, had made it seem like she wouldn’t stop until she turned the world upside down. I had thought this was going to end in disaster.
But I never expected Seventh Master to say he would bind her, and just like that, he did…
It felt a little unreal.
“Seventh Master, we’re not still inside an illusion, are we?” I couldn’t help asking.
Seventh Master glanced at me. “Come here. Stick your head over, and I’ll give you a slash to see if it hurts.”
I noticed one of his eyes was bruised black, probably from the punch Song Xiaotian had landed on him earlier.
I quickly waved my hands. “No need…”
At that moment, the mineral water bottle was still making noises.
The paper ball inside was truly persistent. It seemed determined to bash a hole through the bottle if it had to.
Seventh Master sighed and said to the bottle, “Out of consideration for the fact that you’re a mother, I’ve been taking care of you in every possible way. That’s enough. Just stay in there obediently. I can’t let you kill anyone else. Understand?”
With that, Seventh Master tossed the bottle straight into his backpack.
Song Xiaotian still hadn’t woken up. I slapped him twice, but he didn’t react at all.
Seventh Master went to the kitchen, found a pair of chopsticks, clamped them around Song Xiaotian’s middle finger, and pinched hard until he jolted awake.
When he came to, his face was blank with confusion. He asked us if Ding Ruoning had gotten away.
I said she hadn’t. Seventh Master had already captured her.
“Damn. That’s badass.”
“I’m telling you, I just had this dream. I dreamed Seventh Master was about to kiss me, and I couldn’t help punching him.”
As he spoke, Song Xiaotian noticed the dark bruise around one of Seventh Master’s eyes. He froze, and his expression changed drastically. “Wait… did you really kiss me…?”
Seventh Master shot him an annoyed glare, but didn’t bother arguing. Instead, he quickly ordered us to clean up the scene.
“Pack up all our things. Deal with any unnecessary fingerprints.”
“Chen Mo, call that Little Liu and explain the situation. Report it to him so nothing unexpected crops up and causes unnecessary trouble.”
I nodded, immediately took out my phone, typed up a long text message, and sent it to Brother Liu.
Wang Guofu was already dead, killed by a Ghost. We had left fingerprints and traces here, so trouble would be hard to avoid.
But as long as we reported it to Brother Liu, we could save ourselves a lot of that trouble.
After we finished dealing with the scene, we didn’t bother with Wang Guofu’s body and prepared to leave.
Before we left, Seventh Master pasted another Talisman on the doorframe.
“Hasn’t Ding Ruoning already been captured? Why are you still putting up a Talisman?” Song Xiaotian asked.
Seventh Master said, “This one’s for Master Wang. The man is dead, after all, so we might as well perform Exorcism for him and keep him from becoming a ghost. In this life, he could’ve just stayed poor and gotten by, but instead he committed so many sins. His next life is probably going to be even worse.”
After we left the residential complex, we asked Seventh Master when he planned to perform Exorcism for Ding Ruoning.
Seventh Master said it couldn’t be done.
“She still wants revenge even now. If we try to perform Exorcism for her, do you think she’ll let us?”
Seventh Master shook his head. “Besides, she has four lives on her hands. Once she goes down there, no one will ask her reasons. They’ll only know that after becoming a ghost, she took four lives, and she’ll have to be punished for it.”
“If we perform Exorcism for her now, she’ll have to go to either the Hell of Wrongful Death or Knife Mountain Hell. One of them, at least.”
I asked Seventh Master, if we didn’t perform Exorcism now but did it later, wouldn’t she still have to be punished anyway?
“We enshrine her and recite the Scripture for Resolving Grievances every day. That can reduce her sins. At the very least, after she goes down there, she won’t have to suffer as much.”
Seventh Master looked at us. He didn’t scold us any further, but he still gave us a few reminders. “This is the consequence of that swift, satisfying revenge you wanted. Now, not only will she have to go down there and be punished, her husband, Sun Yang, is still taking revenge too.”
“Sun Yang is alive. If he continues his revenge, he’ll face prison. Those are the rules of the living world.”
“Reflect on this properly. Are you truly doing what’s best for this family, or do you just want a moment of satisfaction?”
Facts spoke louder than words.
The facts proved that we had been wrong, so naturally, we had to admit it.
Even Song Xiaotian admitted his mistake. “We were wrong. We know we were wrong. From now on, no matter what you say, we’ll listen.”
Seventh Master waved it off and got ready to get in the car and go home.
I told Song Xiaotian to drive Anning back. As for me, I wasn’t planning to go home tonight either.
I was going to Seventh Master’s place.
