Chapter 220
Chapter 220
The next morning.
We took Jiang Xiaoyu’s death report, along with the reports for the other two victims and some photos from the scenes, and got ready to head to that villa.
Song Xiaotian had obtained the documents. As for the photos of Jiang Xiaoyu’s scene, he had gotten them from Brother Liu.
We planned to use these things to console Sun Jiayu’s spirit in heaven, then ask her to help persuade her mother, Ding Ruoning.
Seventh Master came that morning too. Without Seventh Master, none of us dared to enter the villa.
When we met up, Seventh Master looked thoroughly displeased.
“You’ve got some nerve showing up. You really have the nerve to come.”
“What happened?”
Song Xiaotian loved arguing with him. “Why wouldn’t we have the nerve to come?”
Seventh Master said, “If it hadn’t been for you last night, Zhang Bo and I would have caught Ding Ruoning, and this whole thing would be over.”
“Hey, Seventh Master, that’s going too far.” Song Xiaotian said seriously, “Last night, you turned a blind eye too. How can you dump the whole blame on us?”
Seventh Master froze for a moment, his expression turning a little unnatural. “What do you mean, turned a blind eye? You need evidence when you talk like that. Otherwise, you’re slandering me.”
That sounded very familiar to me.
When I asked Song Xiaotian whether he had ever sent me that video, he’d answered the exact same way.
Song Xiaotian said, “Keep pretending. Go on. You’re not honest at all.”
Seventh Master snorted. “You were the ones who broke the rules, and now you’re trying to bite back at me? I don’t accept it, and I’m not listening. It’s too early in the morning for me to argue with you.”
Song Xiaotian gave a mocking laugh and did not continue arguing with him.
Walking into this big villa again, both Song Xiaotian and I felt traumatized. Neither of us dared go near the bathroom.
We could only find a relatively smaller room and perform Soul Summoning for Sun Jiayu there.
We burned all the materials in the Fire Basin, hoping Sun Jiayu would know that her grudge had already been avenged.
“Sun Jiayu, your mother did all of this. Your mom is amazing. She avenged you.”
“Now that your grudge has been settled, please talk to your mom. Tell her not to kill anyone else. If she keeps killing, it won’t be good for her or for you.”
“Come out for a moment. We want to talk to you.”
After a long while, the only sound in the entire room was us talking to ourselves. There was no other movement.
Sun Jiayu never came out.
I said, “Why do I feel like the yin energy here has dissipated a lot? Could Sun Jiayu already be gone from this place?”
Seventh Master frowned and took a compass out of his shoulder bag.
Holding the compass, he made a round through every room.
After a long time, he shook his head. “You’re right. Her Ghost isn’t here, so the yin energy in this place has dissipated quite a bit.”
We all stood up and stopped burning paper.
Ding Ruoning was not here, most likely because her husband was moving around with her ashes.
But Sun Jiayu had died half a year ago. Her ashes were either buried or enshrined in a columbarium. As her father, surely he couldn’t have dug up Sun Jiayu’s ashes too, right?
“Sun Jiayu’s Ghost lingered and refused to leave her own home. That fits the nature of a child’s Ghost.”
Seventh Master analyzed, “So unless someone came here to perform Exorcism for her, if no one did that, then the only possibility is that her parents came and took her away. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have left on her own.”
Song Xiaotian frowned. “What are Ding Ruoning and her husband trying to do? They even took their daughter away now. Is this family of three planning a reunion?”
I said, “It’s not a reunion. If they wanted to reunite, they would have done it long ago. Ding Ruoning might still want to continue her revenge. She’s afraid we’ll use Sun Jiayu to threaten her, so she took Sun Jiayu away.”
Song Xiaotian scratched his hair. “Is this family ever going to stop? Is she really planning to execute those keyboard warriors one by one too?”
Seventh Master said irritably, “The ones who really drove that mother and daughter to their deaths were the keyboard warriors. The sins of those keyboard warriors are no less than those three little beasts. I said long ago that we couldn’t let her start killing. Once she did, she’d just keep going.”
Song Xiaotian finally stopped arguing. He, too, had realized how serious this was.
If you asked me, those keyboard warriors really were even more hateful than the main culprits. If the ghost in question killed a few representative examples, that would be perfectly understandable.
But what I was afraid of was that she wouldn’t stop at a few examples. She’d just keep killing. How many people would have to die then?
And according to Song Xiaotian’s investigation, Ding Ruoning’s husband-Sun Jiayu’s father, Sun Yang-was the owner of a software company. He had the ability to track down those keyboard warriors’ IP addresses.
As long as he found one, that person was absolutely dead.
“I… I’ll go check the Property Management surveillance room and see who came here.”
Song Xiaotian couldn’t quite bear Seventh Master’s stare. He hurriedly ran out, planning to check with Property Management first.
We left the villa as well and sat down by the front gate.
Anning was only there as support. We were the ones making all the decisions, so no matter how things developed, it had nothing to do with her.
But I was different. This was Meng Yifan’s business, and most of the time I was the one making decisions. And when Seventh Master had made his decision, I had gone against him.
So no matter how things developed, I couldn’t wash my hands of it.
A long time passed before Song Xiaotian returned.
He had already checked the neighborhood surveillance footage.
“Sun Yang came back last night, but he didn’t get out of the car. He parked at the villa entrance, and the car door opened by itself.”
“I’m guessing he brought Ding Ruoning back with him, and Ding Ruoning took Sun Jiayu away.”
“What do you think is going through Sun Yang’s head?”
Song Xiaotian sighed. “He has such a huge family fortune, and a company on top of that. If he gets revenge together with Ding Ruoning, then he’s finished. The police can’t arrest Ding Ruoning, but they can arrest him. When the time comes, he’ll have to take the blame for every single crime.”
When a supernatural case happened, the police might not find any leads, and perhaps it would end there.
But when many supernatural cases happened at the same time, and all the victims shared the same traits, no matter how the police investigated, they would eventually trace it back to Sun Yang. Then they would conclude that Sun Yang had killed all these people.
“He may be rich, but he’s also a father and a husband.”
I said, “Sun Yang is definitely a good dad and a good husband. He’s willing to throw everything away just to avenge his wife and daughter. I’m guessing he doesn’t even care whether he lives or dies anymore.”
“If you died, your dad would definitely spend everything he had to avenge you too.”
Song Xiaotian kicked me. “You go die! You’re cursing me every damn day. If I die, it’ll be because you cursed me to death!”
“Look!” Anning suddenly held out her phone to us. “Someone’s stirring things up online again.”
We took the phone and looked. Someone had actually already posted the news of Jiang Xiaoyu, Wu Binbin, and the others’ deaths online, and they were saying that Sun Yang had killed the three of them.
And the person who posted the news was called “Qiankun Wuji.”
Qiankun Wuji again!
I remembered that the one who had spread rumors online and driven Ding Ruoning to her death before was this same Qiankun Wuji.
Now Ding Ruoning was already dead, yet he was still stirring up trouble.
And this time, he wasn’t attacking Ding Ruoning. He had turned his sights on Sun Yang.
The key question was: how did he know Jiang Xiaoyu and the others were already dead?
