Chapter 150
Chapter 150
I looked up and saw Du Ruhai standing there, his upper body bare, chanting an incantation.
He actually had that same Evil Buddha tattooed on his skin.
We had guarded against everything-we’d prepared for those eighteen bald men, and Old Zhao Seven had even summoned the Thunder Ancestor-yet we hadn’t guarded against a bastard like Du Ruhai!
By now, two-thirds of that Evil Buddha’s form had already manifested. When Old Zhao Seven looked up, his face turned even paler.
Looking at him, it seemed he no longer had any way to stop the appearance of this Evil Buddha.
Just like last time, I was instantly paralyzed by the Evil Buddha’s presence. Forget resisting; even the desire to run was crushed by its overwhelming, malevolent majesty.
What terrified me even more was that when the Evil Buddha appeared last time, its eyes were closed. This time, even its eyes were open.
My legs turned to jelly, and I collapsed right there.
Without my support, Old Zhao Seven fell down with me.
When I saw the state he was in, I was startled.
Not only was his face deathly pale, but his entire body was shaking, and his expression had become incredibly strange.
It was as if he were terrified of something.
“Seventh Master! Seventh Master!”
I hurriedly called out to him twice, but he didn’t react at all, continuing to tremble uncontrollably.
I thought to myself that this shouldn’t be happening. I was scared to death, sure, but he was an expert, far more powerful than me. Years ago, he had fought this Organization until they fled the country. How could such a courageous man be frightened into this state?
“Qingran…”
Suddenly, the dazed Old Zhao Seven muttered a name.
After he spoke the name, tears began to flow from his eyes.
Qingran…
Shen Qingran?
Old Zhao Seven had mentioned this name to us before; it was the name of his late wife.
I remembered now. Old Zhao Seven’s wife and son had both been murdered by the people from The Organization, and they had even been beheaded.
For a man, that was a piercing, unbearable pain.
Could it be that after all these years, Old Zhao Seven still hadn’t stepped out from that shadow?
No…
If it was because of psychological trauma, why was he fine when he saw those eighteen bald men earlier?
The moment he saw this Evil Buddha, he became like this.
It was the Evil Buddha affecting him!
I quickly moved to block his view. “Seventh Master, wake up! Don’t look at it! Close your eyes!”
But as soon as I said that, I noticed Old Zhao Seven’s eyes were turning red.
The Beast Mark on half of his face had already disappeared earlier, and his eyes had returned to normal.
Now his eyes were red again, but the Beast Mark didn’t reappear.
“Seventh Master!”
I was too scared to touch him and could only call his name over and over again.
I didn’t know what kind of demonic possession the Old Man had fallen into, but no matter how I shouted, I couldn’t wake him.
Suddenly, his neck began to twitch, and his expression turned twisted and feral. He jerked his head around, looking toward the entrance of the rooftop.
His gaze prompted me to look as well.
I saw a figure appear at the rooftop entrance. The figure held a club and walked onto the rooftop with heavy, staggering steps.
I focused my eyes and saw it was Song Xiaotian, club in hand.
But the current Song Xiaotian looked as if he had crawled out of a pool of blood. He was covered in gore and wounds, some of which were still actively bleeding.
Seeing him like this felt like a needle stabbing my heart.
He had ended up like this just to come and help me.
But what shocked me even more were his eyes… they were also red.
“Brother Tian!” I shouted twice.
But just like Old Zhao Seven, he couldn’t hear me at all.
My heart sank. I had a feeling that something catastrophic was about to happen.
Sure enough, before I could even try to wake them, Old Zhao Seven and Song Xiaotian lunged at each other, instantly becoming locked in a fierce struggle.
Seeing their intensity, I knew they were trying to beat each other to death.
They were the two strongest people here; the Evil Buddha wanted them to kill each other.
“Stop fighting! Stop it right now!”
“Someone’s going to die!”
I shouted several times, but I couldn’t stop them at all.
If Song Xiaotian’s staff landed squarely on Old Zhao Seven, he would be crippled if not killed outright-there wouldn’t be enough left of him to put in a coffin.
Fortunately, the frenzied Old Zhao Seven didn’t fall behind. Song Xiaotian was too heavily injured to suppress him quickly, and in a moment of carelessness, Old Zhao Seven kicked the staff right out of his hands.
I was so focused on watching them and shouting that I completely forgot there was someone behind me.
At that moment, a kick slammed into my back, sending me sprawling onto the ground.
I looked back and saw a shirtless Du Ruhai.
He had another cigar clamped between his teeth as he looked down at me with a cold sneer. “This is the first time I’ve seen someone so eager to rush to their death. Fine, I’ll finish you all off today so people will stop bothering me.”
With that, he kicked me hard in the stomach. I curled up like a shrimp, the pain so intense I nearly blacked out.
Ignoring the agony, I grabbed his calf, intending to trip him.
But even though I used every ounce of my strength, I couldn’t budge him.
“You forgot-before I became Du Ruhai, I killed fifteen people.”
He looked at me with a mirthless smile. “No, wait, sixteen. When I was killing a child, some big guy tried to be a hero. I killed him too while I was at it and took the three thousand yuan he had on him.”
“You animal!”
With bloodshot eyes, I sank my teeth into his calf.
Du Ruhai cried out in pain and delivered another kick to my chest, forcing me to let go and sliding me across the floor.
He picked up the Vajra Pestle from the ground and limped toward me, intending to stab me.
Just then, a dark shadow took advantage of his distraction and dived into his body. He froze instantly, his eyes bulging wide.
I knew Du Yuwei had possessed him. Thinking this was my chance to kill him, I scrambled up from the ground, but to my horror, he didn’t seem afraid at all. A second later, he started laughing.
“Do you really think I’d let you in without a way to protect myself?”
“My dear, don’t forget that I controlled your entire life. How could you ever dream of controlling me?”
Du Ruhai laughed like a psychopath as he formed a hand seal, his eyes suddenly turning a deep red.
“Come out! Stop hiding!”
As soon as he finished speaking, Du Yuwei let out a scream of agony and was ejected from his body.
He gripped the Vajra Pestle and plunged it into Du Yuwei’s back.
I watched helplessly as Du Yuwei collapsed.
She had been struck by the Vajra Pestle!
That was a Vajra Pestle!
It was meant for killing ghosts!
My eyes went red. I grabbed the knife from the floor and lunged, driving the blade straight into Du Ruhai’s heart.
Du Ruhai clutched his chest, staring at me in disbelief. His body went limp, and he slumped to the floor.
But I didn’t care about him anymore. I looked at Du Yuwei, whose form was beginning to turn translucent on the ground, and tears began to fall uncontrollably.
She looked back at me, her gaze fixed on mine, and used the last of her strength to cry out, “Brother Fuguang…”
That name, ‘Brother Fuguang,’ felt like a key unlocking memories that didn’t belong to me.
Those memories came rushing in like a tide, violent and heartbreaking.
My mouth hung open, tears streaming down my face, as I instinctively called back to Du Yuwei, “Sister.”
