Chapter 91
Chapter 91
Luo Tiancheng still refused to speak. He simply closed his eyes and waited for death.
Lu Changxue, standing nearby, couldn’t take it anymore. She and Yun Jianyue had known each other since the first grade, so she knew a great deal about Yun Jianyue. Naturally, she also knew how much Yun Jianyue respected this uncle who had once helped her.
But this so-called uncle had harbored sinister intentions from the very beginning.
“Listen here, you old bastard! Don’t think you can play dead and make this all go away!” Lu Changxue furiously kicked Luo Tiancheng again and again, wishing she could beat the old bastard to death.
Luo Tiancheng’s sinister eyes fixed on Lu Changxue’s ghostly form. Suddenly, he laughed. “You died because of Yun Jianyue. Don’t you know that? The car accident, the empty blood bank, how they had to transfuse Yun Jianyue’s blood into you… Don’t you remember?”
At that moment, the broken chain of clues finally connected.
Yun Jianyue remembered how she and Lu Changxue had gone home for the holidays. Lu Changxue had been in a car accident and rushed to the hospital.
Although it was only in a county town, it was still a Grade II Class A hospital, yet somehow it had no reserves of the most common blood type.
Yun Jianyue had found it strange at the time, but she hadn’t thought too deeply about it. She had been too worried about Lu Changxue, so she had simply donated her own blood for the transfusion.
A year later, Luo Tiancheng and the person behind him had used Wang Hui to murder Lu Changxue. They had done it both to lure Yun Jianyue into their trap and to test whether she was the Goddess.
If Lu Changxue turned into a vengeful ghost, that would prove Yun Jianyue’s blood had worked and that she was the Goddess.
If Lu Changxue failed to become a vengeful ghost, that would prove Yun Jianyue’s blood was no different from an ordinary person’s and would eventually be exhausted by the body’s metabolism. It would mean she wasn’t the Goddess they were searching for.
Just to test whether Yun Jianyue was the Goddess, they had dismembered Lu Changxue and dumped her remains into the sewer…
These people had no idea how afraid Lu Changxue was of pain.
She was someone who could cry for half an hour after cutting her finger while chopping vegetables, yet they had carved her alive into dozens of pieces.
Yun Jianyue’s fury reached its peak.
Even more enraged was Lu Changxue herself. Resentful energy surged around her as she seized Luo Tiancheng by the throat.
“Trying to turn us against each other? You really are a vile old bastard! I’d gladly die for my Darling! Even if I were hacked to pieces a hundred more times, I still wouldn’t blame her! The ones in the wrong are scheming scum like you, not my Darling!”
Lu Changxue’s nails grew wildly, digging into Luo Tiancheng’s flesh.
A flicker of triumphant satisfaction flashed through Luo Tiancheng’s eyes. Lu Changxue abruptly withdrew her hand, leaving him frozen in astonishment.
“You tried to piss me off so I’d kill you, and then you could happily drop dead, didn’t you? Do you think I scored 670 on the college entrance exam for nothing? I’m an elite science-track student who scored 670!”
What did being a science-track student with a score of 670 mean?
It meant her logical reasoning skills surpassed seventy percent of the world’s population! How dare this old bastard scheme against her? He was clearly looking down on ghosts!
Mo Chen looked rather surprised. “You actually grew a brain?”
This was nothing short of a miracle. Even an Evil God like him couldn’t have accomplished such a feat.
Yun Jianyue swung a vicious slap at him. Mo Chen firmly caught her wrist, but the next second, her other hand came flying across his face with a loud, crisp smack.
“Don’t insult her,” Yun Jianyue said darkly.
Mo Chen drew a deep breath. “Don’t you insult her too?”
“How is that the same? When Darling insults me, it’s flirting. When she hits me, it’s because she loves me. When you insult me, you’re just humiliating me.” Lu Changxue proudly tossed her hair. “I’m very smart.”
Yun Jianyue gave her a thumbs-up. “That’s right. You’re my Little Clever Ghost.”
“Exactly! There’s no way anyone could turn me against you.” Lu Changxue puffed out her chest, practically overflowing with pride.
Luo Tiancheng: Apparently, no one cared whether this old bastard lived or died.
“Uncle Luo, it doesn’t matter if you won’t tell me. The Paranormal Bureau has plenty of ways to make you talk.” Yun Jianyue looked at Luo Tiancheng, her emotions already under control.
She had always been like this. No matter how unhinged she appeared, she made sure her mind remained clear and rational at all times.
Given her current circumstances, she couldn’t afford to lose her head for even a second.
She had to keep her life in her own hands at all times. She could never allow anyone else to control her fate again.
Yun Jianyue said, “You probably don’t know this, but the Paranormal Bureau has professional interrogators. They won’t care about human rights or ghost rights. Since you’re so tight-lipped, we’ll let them question you.”
“I can interrogate him too,” Mo Chen suddenly said.
He strongly suspected that Yun Jianyue looked down on him.
If the small fry at the Paranormal Bureau could pry out the truth, how could a mighty Evil God like him fail?
Lu Changxue muttered under her breath, “And you called me brainless. Darling’s husband, maybe you should get your head checked too. She won’t let you interrogate him because there are things she doesn’t want you to know. Why are you so eager to butt in?”
“Hey, how can you talk to my husband like that? How could you say there’s something wrong with his head? Aren’t you afraid my husband will kill you for saying something so true?” As Yun Jianyue spoke, she pulled Lu Changxue over to her side.
Given how petty Mo Chen was, he would surely lose his temper and try to kill Lu Changxue.
Sure enough, the Evil God’s Power around Mo Chen surged violently.
Now even a lowly ghost dared to walk all over him? He was definitely going to kill Lu Changxue today!
Yun Jianyue pointed at Mo Chen and warned, “Touch her, and I’ll take you down with me.”
At that moment, Mo Chen seriously considered whether they should simply destroy each other. He was constantly being infuriated by that bitch, Yun Jianyue, anyway. He might as well drag her to the grave with him.
Si Wuming drove his saber deep into the concrete floor. He said nothing, merely staring coldly at Mo Chen.
Mo Chen seriously considered his chances of killing Si Wuming, Yun Jianyue, and Lu Changxue all at once.
Maybe they should all just die together.
Yun Jianyue and Lu Changxue would be easy enough to kill, but that undying old bastard Si Wuming would be difficult.
Forget it. He would let Yun Jianyue off this time.
When Mo Chen made no move, Yun Jianyue called Cai Zeyu again.
Before long, agents from the Paranormal Bureau and the police stormed in. They arrested the Four Lin Brothers, Luo Tiancheng, Sister Hong, and all their people.
Once everything was settled, Yun Jianyue said to Gao Weimin, “Let’s go. Come back home with us.”
Gao Weimin remained where he was. “May I call my grandfather first?”
“Go ahead.” Yun Jianyue had no interest in eavesdropping on his call, so she gave him some privacy.
About half an hour later, Gao Weimin ended the call and found Yun Jianyue. He bowed to her, startling her.
“Comrade Yun, I’m not going home,” Gao Weimin said.
“Why not?” Yun Jianyue frowned.
“I used evil arts to exchange bodies. From an ordinary person’s perspective, I’m no longer Gao Weimin.”
Lu Changxue said, “That’s fine. Your grandfather can arrange a new identity for you. It wouldn’t be bad to live on in this healthy body.”
Gao Weimin shook his head. “This body belonged to one of Lin Sicheng’s enforcers. I can assume his identity, remain in Dongwu, and infiltrate other criminal organizations. I can cooperate with the police back home and help rescue our compatriots.”
Yun Jianyue and the others had entered Dongwu in force this time because they had just cause. The Southeast Asian governments knew they were in the wrong, so they had turned a blind eye.
But if members of the Paranormal Bureau continued attacking other criminal organizations, that would be a different matter. They would be openly encroaching on the interests of certain Southeast Asian regimes.
Matters involving ordinary people still had to be handled by ordinary people.
Gao Weimin was willing to give up his identity forever if it meant rescuing his compatriots from their living hell.
His father, grandfather, and forebears had devoted their lives to their country and its people. He wanted to carry on their legacy and do the same.
He, Gao Weimin, would never regret being a citizen of Huaxia in this life.
