Chapter 79
Chapter 79
Brother Dao was having a pretty young woman apply medicine to his wounds. The moment Yun Jianyue entered and saw him sitting there bare-chested, she hurried over, shoved the young woman aside with her hip, and snatched the medicine from her hand.
“Brother Dao, let me rub your medicine on for you~” she cooed.
Brother Dao, who had been practically paralyzed a moment ago, suddenly became as nimble as a monkey. He rolled away in one swift motion and cried out in alarm, “Don’t!”
With Yun Cuihua’s strength, having her apply medicine wouldn’t be treatment. It would be torture!
Yun Jianyue began whimpering in fake distress. The sound made Brother Dao’s head ache, so he waved the young woman away and got down to business.
“Now that you’ve watched them process the organs, what did you think?”
“It was so bloody and exciting. Pretty much like slaughtering a chicken.” Yun Jianyue put on a bashful expression. “I was sooo scared~”
Brother Dao was speechless. He might have believed her if she hadn’t looked so excited. Comparing murder to slaughtering chickens… There was definitely something wrong with this woman.
He glanced at Doctor Jian. When Doctor Jian nodded to indicate that Yun Jianyue had nerves of steel, Brother Dao understood.
“Xiao Yun, Xiao Lu, you two really do have talent. It’d be a waste to keep you working as livestreamers. Here’s what we’ll do. Brother Dao will give you a job. Spend the next few days getting familiar with this place and learning how to serve tea. I’ll also have Ah Hong find you some nicer clothes.”
Yun Jianyue knew the fish had taken the bait.
She was delighted inside but showed none of it, maintaining her foolish facade. “You have to learn how to serve tea? Brother Dao, you’re looking down on me~”
“I’m not talking about the kind where you just pour boiling water over some leaves. Honestly, Xiao Yun, you really haven’t had enough education.” Brother Dao felt exhausted. Talking to an uneducated woman was every bit as difficult as he’d expected. The only upside was that she was easy to control.
Yun Jianyue looked as though she only half understood. “What’s the point of learning that? I’m still waiting for you to help me make money, Brother Dao. Can serving tea make money?”
Lu Changxue nodded furiously. “Exactly, Brother Dao! Don’t try to fool us. We came here to make big money.”
“Once you’ve learned how to serve tea, Brother Dao will reward each of you with twenty thousand yuan.”
Brother Dao was extremely generous. He opened his safe, took out four thick stacks of cash, and set them on the table.
Yun Jianyue’s eyes went wide.
It wasn’t the forty thousand yuan she coveted, but the millions of US dollars sitting inside the safe!
If she could take it all… Wait, she could turn invisible. She could call Mo Chen over and have him steal it all. Just imagine what an incredible piece of jade she could buy for Lu Changxue with that money!
No, no. She was here on a mission. She had to stay calm!
Brother Dao was very pleased by the greed on Yun Jianyue’s face. “Study hard. Once you’ve mastered it, Brother Dao will arrange for you to serve some very important people. By then, you’ll be making a lot more than twenty thousand. To those big shots, money is just a number. You’ll be able to get as much as you want.”
“We’ll learn! We’ll learn! Do we start now? Who’s teaching us?” Yun Jianyue couldn’t tear her eyes away from the money.
Brother Dao was extremely satisfied with her reaction. He casually tossed Yun Jianyue ten thousand yuan, like someone rewarding an obedient dog with a bone. “I’ll have someone come teach you this afternoon. Whoever learns the fastest and does the best will get another reward from Brother Dao.”
“Thank you, Brother Dao! Smooches~”
Clutching the money, Yun Jianyue puckered her lips and moved to give Brother Dao a playful thump on the chest. He hurriedly dodged her.
“It’s time to eat. Let’s have lunch first!”
Today, Yun Jianyue and Lu Changxue were allowed to eat at the round table.
Yun Jianyue proceeded to devour everything on it with wild abandon. Everyone stared at her in stunned silence.
Brother Dao looked down at his completely empty bowl, then at Lu Changxue, who hadn’t touched a single dish. Baffled, he asked, “Does she… always eat this much?”
“Yes. Both our families are poor, and she rarely gets enough to eat. Seeing so much food all at once, she simply couldn’t control herself.” After hanging around Yun Jianyue for so long, Lu Changxue had become just as good at spouting nonsense.
Yun Jianyue proceeded to polish off more than half the dishes on the table by herself. Once she had eaten and drunk her fill, she noticed that no one else had touched their chopsticks and enthusiastically urged, “Go on, everyone! Eat!”
Brother Dao looked at the table full of leftovers, then turned and ordered the kitchen to prepare another spread.
Yun Jianyue’s eyes lit up. “If they’re making another table of food, does that mean I can finish everything that’s left?”
Brother Dao paled in shock. “You can still eat?!”
“Oh, I was only about eighty percent full just now.” With that, Yun Jianyue resumed devouring the food like a whirlwind.
And so, every last dish on the table ended up in Yun Jianyue’s stomach.
Once she had eaten and drunk her fill, Brother Dao promptly kicked her away from the table. Si Wuming even obediently handed her a tissue to wipe her mouth.
Noticing Si Wuming’s little gesture, Brother Dao shot him a displeased look. “Get rid of whatever ideas you have about Xiao Yun.”
He had already decided to send Yun Cuihua to serve the people from higher up. Si Tiezhu was far too handsome. Brother Dao couldn’t let him steal Yun Cuihua’s heart.
Si Wuming tilted his head. “What ideas?”
Brother Dao sneered inwardly. Was this brat really trying to play the innocent young man with him?
“You’re not allowed to fall for Yun Cuihua, and you’re not allowed to seduce her either,” Brother Dao said coldly.
Si Wuming gave an acknowledging hum. “I won’t fall for her, and I won’t seduce her.”
But if Yun Jianyue came to peek at him while he was bathing of her own accord, that would be an entirely different matter.
Satisfied that Si Wuming knew his place, Brother Dao waited until the fresh spread arrived before resuming his meal.
For three days straight, Yun Jianyue and Lu Changxue learned how to brew tea. They even learned to play mahjong after hearing that the people they would soon be serving were extremely fond of Huaxia’s traditional pastimes: drinking tea and playing mahjong.
They couldn’t be too bad at mahjong, but they couldn’t be too good either. If they were terrible, the big shots might find them annoying. If they were too good and kept winning, the big shots would be unhappy.
Yun Jianyue spent those three days happily enjoying an early taste of retirement and even managed to win tens of thousands in cash.
On the fourth day, security throughout the base grew even tighter.
Yun Jianyue knew their big fish was about to arrive.
With twenty days remaining until the Huaxia New Year, the big fish arrived at Brother Dao’s base.
Yun Jianyue and Lu Changxue, both dressed in form-fitting qipaos that accentuated their figures, waited in the air-conditioned reception room.
The reception room was a nice space Brother Dao had cleared out at the last minute.
Through the window, Yun Jianyue saw Brother Dao waiting respectfully in the open yard with Brother Wolf, Sister Hong, and the rest of their group.
Before long, the gates opened. Two men entered one after the other, surrounded by a crowd of underlings.
The man in front wore sunglasses, with a crumb from a fried dough stick still clinging to the corner of his mouth. Evidently convinced he looked incredibly impressive, he swaggered up to Brother Dao.
Brother Dao bowed and scraped with an ingratiating smile. “Fourth Brother, why did you come in person? I thought Brother Zhao would be the one coming.”
“Oh? You’re quite well-informed. It seems you know who headquarters originally planned to send.” Fourth Brother did not remove his sunglasses. Wearing a smile that did not reach his eyes, he reached out and patted Brother Dao’s cheek as though patting a dog.
Brother Dao’s expression changed. “Fourth Brother, I swear I don’t have any contacts at headquarters. Brother Zhao came every time before, so I assumed…”
“Enough. Let’s not waste words. We’ll talk inside about Gao Weimin.”
