Chapter 86
Chapter 86
At that moment, an old man in his seventies or eighties gave a derisive snort and spoke in a language Yun Jianyue couldn’t understand.
As soon as he finished, Lin Fengting’s expression changed. He backed away several steps, while the strange Southeast Asian Xuanmen practitioners all fixed Lu Changxue with predatory stares.
Lu Changxue hadn’t understood a single word, but that didn’t stop her from figuring out what the old man had said.
They’d discovered she was a ghost!
These people wanted to destroy her!
Darling, save me!
Yun Jianyue also realized that Lu Changxue’s identity had been exposed. She lunged forward, pointed at Lu Changxue, and cursed, “I didn’t understand what he said, but it looks like you’re the traitor! Lu Erfang, I never thought you would betray us. I’m deeply disappointed in you!”
Lu Changxue was speechless.
They were still going to keep up the act at a time like this?
Fine. It was just acting, wasn’t it? She could do that too!
Lu Changxue covered her face and burst into sobs. “I’m not a traitor! All I wanted was to live the good life with you. How could I ever do anything to betray you?”
“Third Brother, don’t hold back just because I’m the newly appointed boss here. This woman ruined my grand plan to make money. Kill her!” Yun Jianyue declared indignantly.
Lin Fengting glanced uncertainly at Lin Sicheng. “Those two really are best friends, right?”
Was this the legendary definition of a fake friendship?
Lin Sicheng scratched his head, equally uncertain. “That’s what the files said, and Little Wolf said the same thing. I think so?”
“How dare you, Yun Cuihua! You don’t trust me at all? I treated you as my best friend! Even after I died, I stayed by your side to protect you, but this is how you repay me? I’ll kill you! You can come to hell with me!”
Lu Changxue poured every last scrap of her limited cleverness into this moment. Her ferocious ghost burst out of her body, and her corpse toppled heavily to the side, successfully pinning Brother Wolf beneath it.
A corpse was much heavier than a living person, and the weight of Lu Changxue’s body left Brother Wolf seeing stars.
Ordinary people couldn’t see Lu Changxue in her ghostly form, but the Four Lin Brothers and the eight Southeast Asian Xuanmen practitioners could see her clearly.
Lu Changxue seized Yun Jianyue by the throat and shook her wildly as her fingernails lengthened at a terrifying rate.
Just as her nails were about to pierce Yun Jianyue’s carotid artery, Lu Changxue subtly shifted her fingers and continued pretending to be a berserk, vicious ghost.
Yun Jianyue looked as if she were about to be strangled to death. “Help…”
Lin Fengting stared, dumbfounded. “So this is female friendship? Isn’t it a little too fragile?”
He hadn’t even done anything yet, and the woman and ghost were already at each other’s throats?
Wait. No. The ghost was about to murder someone right under his nose!
“What are you waiting for?” Lin Fengting ordered in a Southeast Asian dialect.
The eight Southeast Asian sorcerers attacked in unison. Various objects that Yun Jianyue couldn’t identify, whether ritual implements or sinister artifacts, flew straight at Lu Changxue.
Yun Jianyue shifted Lu Changxue’s hand on her throat, making it look as though Lu Changxue had dragged her in front as a shield.
Every object struck Yun Jianyue before clattering to the floor.
They worked against ghosts, but they were harmless to humans.
“Holy crap, Darling, did that hurt?” Lu Changxue muttered under her breath, speaking softly enough that only the two of them could hear.
“No. Throw me toward Lin Tianjue,” Yun Jianyue whispered back.
Lu Changxue let out a vicious roar. “Die, Yun Cuihua!”
With that, she hurled Yun Jianyue through the air in a perfect arc.
“Heeeelp meeee!”
Yun Jianyue screamed at the top of her lungs as she sailed through the air.
Surrounded by bodyguards, Lin Tianjue and Lin Chunshu looked up at the dark figure hurtling closer and closer. Their pupils contracted in shock.
“Spread out!” Lin Tianjue roared.
But it was already too late.
Bang!
Yun Jianyue slammed heavily into Lin Tianjue.
Lin Tianjue retched. “Ugh-”
He might be impervious to blades and bullets, but getting hit by something that might as well have been a cannonball still left him dizzy and nauseous!
Dazed from the impact, Yun Jianyue deliberately rolled over Lin Tianjue a couple of times, making sure to grind her elbow into his stomach.
Lin Tianjue retched again. “Ugh-”
That damned Yun Cuihua! He was going to kill her!
The bodyguards closed in, intending to pull Yun Jianyue off him. But Yun Jianyue moved faster. She flipped to her feet, then obsequiously reached down to help Lin Tianjue up.
“Boss, are you all right? Hurry and get up, Boss! This lowly servant’s worthless life doesn’t matter, but nothing can happen to you!”
Lin Tianjue felt less like someone was helping him up and more like a pair of pincers had clamped around his wrist and forcibly hauled him to his feet.
“Lowly servant?” Lin Tianjue suppressed the nausea churning in his stomach and wondered if there was something wrong with his ears. Was that something a normal person would call herself?
Yun Jianyue’s expression stiffened for a split second. Crap. She’d gotten so carried away with the act that she’d overdone it!
Whatever. She had already achieved her goal. Who cared if she’d gone overboard?
Yun Jianyue pulled a sharp knife from behind her back and swiftly sliced open her palm, coating the entire blade with her blood.
With one hand restraining Lin Tianjue, she kicked him down onto his knees. Then she pressed the blood-soaked dagger hard against his neck.
“Nobody move!”
The reversal happened so quickly that no one had time to react.
Lin Tianjue sneered. “So you really are a spy. You and that ghost of yours are behind all the people who vanished from the factory!”
“That ghost of mine?” Yun Jianyue considered it for a moment, then nodded. “I suppose you’re not wrong. In a sense, I have been keeping him.”
After all, she’d let Mo Chen use her phone for so long. If that didn’t count as keeping him, what did?
At the very least, it had to count as some form of sponsorship!
The bodyguards drew their highly illegal weapons, aiming the dark muzzles at Yun Jianyue.
A vicious gleam flashed through Lin Tianjue’s eyes. “Fire! Kill that woman!”
Yun Jianyue pressed the blade a fraction harder, and blood instantly gushed from Lin Tianjue’s neck.
“Wait! Don’t shoot!” Lin Tianjue shrieked.
The other three Lin brothers froze as well. Wasn’t their eldest brother impervious to blades and bullets? How had Yun Cuihua managed to cut his neck?
Yun Jianyue grinned smugly. “Hehe. Anything made by a Goddess is guaranteed to be top quality. The bloodline Mom left me sure comes in handy.”
Lin Tianjue didn’t understand what she was talking about, but he felt fear like never before. “Who are you? How can you break through my Iron Shirt?”
“You already said it yourself. I’m a spy!” Yun Jianyue replied as though it were obvious.
Lin Tianjue nearly broke down. That wasn’t what he was asking about!
While Yun Jianyue was distracted by the conversation, Lin Chunshu used his invisibility to sneak up beside her, a deadly weapon in hand.
Just as Lin Chunshu was about to strike, a coldly gleaming Tang saber came to rest against his neck.
Si Wuming stared impassively at Lin Chunshu and knocked the weapon from his hand.
Lin Chunshu: ???
Wasn’t he invisible? How had this man found him?!
Lin Fengting, who possessed at least a little common sense, immediately pointed at Gao Weimin. “They must be here for Gao Weimin! Grab him!”
As long as they captured Gao Weimin, these people wouldn’t dare make a move!
With a sinister expression, Lu Changxue summoned her corpse to shield Gao Weimin and unleashed the ghostly aura of an A-rank vengeful ghost.
“I’d like to see who dares lay a hand on him!”
