Chapter 89

“You can make the arrangements.” In any case, Jiang Shaobai would be the one doing the shady deed. Even if the Heavenly Dao wanted to mark someone down for it, it wouldn’t be able to pin it on her.

Jiang Shaobai had no idea what Xia Sheng was thinking. All he could see was a vast sea of cash waving at him.

More than twenty percent of men in the country had problems with impotence. If he could really seize this market, maybe the richest man in the nation in the future wouldn’t be Shen Yanchen, but him, Jiang Shaobai.

Jiang Shaobai was happily lost in his daydream. Grinning, he said, “Then prepare a few hundred pills on your end first. I’ll let those kidney-deficient, premature-ejaculating old men up top see how effective the medicine is, win them over a bit.”

Xia Sheng nodded. “Sure. I’ll have the pills ready within three days.”

To make a hundred pills, even if she cut corners on the efficacy, she would still need some of Shen Shen’s little whiskers. It seemed she would have to make a trip over tomorrow.

Shen Shen, more than ten kilometers away: Why does my scalp suddenly feel chilly?

The little guy silently crawled up from the dirt, hopped bare-bottomed into the house, found a knit cap, and wrapped it around his head before finally going to sleep.

Xia Sheng had no classes the next afternoon. After mailing the weight-loss pills she had made to Peng Lu, she set off for the Shen Family.

Shen Shen spotted Xia Sheng from the second-floor balcony and immediately sensed trouble. He hurriedly buried his entire body in the soil.

Shen Yanchen wasn’t home at this hour, so Nanny Wang led Xia Sheng straight up to the second-floor balcony.

There was no sign of Shen Shen on the balcony at all. Nanny Wang scratched her head in confusion. “I remember when I came to clean half an hour ago, I saw the little guy lying on the mud with his belly out, sunbathing. How did he disappear already?”

Xia Sheng swept her gaze around before it finally stopped on a tiny bump in one of the flowerpots.

Perhaps sensing her stare, the pointed tip of a ginseng root sticking out of the soil trembled lightly, then tried to sneak back into the dirt.

But the moment it moved, Xia Sheng caught that little root and lifted him straight up, pulling up the ginseng with the dirt.

At that moment, Shen Shen was in his ginseng form. His body suddenly dangled in midair, scaring him so badly that his ginseng roots flailed wildly as he wailed, “Little Celestial Master, let me go! You’re hurting me!”

Nanny Wang had seen Shen Shen’s true form long ago, so seeing the little guy kicking his legs in Xia Sheng’s hand didn’t surprise her.

“Sorry.” Xia Sheng set the ginseng down on the ground.

The moment he landed, he transformed into a milky little child about five or six years old. Covering his small head, he looked at Xia Sheng with an aggrieved expression and accused, “Little Celestial Master, you’re bad!”

Nanny Wang watched Shen Shen’s adorable appearance from the side and felt her heart practically melt.

Xia Sheng’s face, however, held no expression. She stated calmly, “I need one ginseng rootlet.”

Shen Shen: She keeps tormenting a nine-hundred-plus-year-old baby every single day. The Little Celestial Master has no heart!

Shen Shen protected his little head, which was already showing signs of balding. “Little Celestial Master, you’re going to mass-produce this medicine later. Does that mean you’ll come pull out my rootlets every day?”

Xia Sheng nodded. “Yes.”

Shen Shen: Being a ginseng is so exhausting.

Even slaves weren’t used like this!

Shen Shen said pitifully, “But having my rootlets pulled out hurts so much.”

“I told you, I can use painkillers on you.”

“But I’ll go bald.”

“I can make you hair-growth tonic.”

Shen Shen used up every excuse he had, but Xia Sheng remained unmoved.

So Shen Shen simply started playing the misery card, tears pattering down from his little eyes.

“Little Celestial Master, you’re bad, wahhh… All you think about is making money. You don’t care about my feelings at all, wahhh… I’m going to run away from home…”
“You carry my scent on you. Even if you run away from home, I can still drag you back.”

Shen Shen: “…”

How ruthless!

The little guy cried even harder. He plopped down on the floor, turned his back to Xia Sheng, and wiped his tears.

Seeing his tiny shoulders shaking as he cried, Nanny Wang couldn’t help feeling sorry for him. “Miss Xia, the child really is quite pitiful. Is there no other way to cultivate ginseng roots?”

Xia Sheng thought for a moment. “There is another way.”

At that, Nanny Wang was just about to say something when the little guy, who had been wiping his tears a moment ago, immediately scrambled up from the floor. His eyes shone as he looked at Xia Sheng. “What way?”

Xia Sheng raised a brow. “Done pretending?”

Shen Shen sniffled and said, “I wasn’t pretending. I really was sad just now.”

Xia Sheng didn’t expose him. Instead, she said, “Give me one of your ginseng roots.”

“Aren’t you still pulling out my rootlets?” Shen Shen unwillingly plucked off one rootlet and handed it to Xia Sheng.

Xia Sheng murmured something under her breath, then breathed a puff of immortal energy onto the rootlet.

Shen Shen caught the rich scent of Spiritual Energy within that breath and couldn’t resist secretly inhaling a little.

After Xia Sheng cast a spell on the rootlet and infused it with Spiritual Energy, she planted it in the soil.

The next moment, the ginseng root began growing wildly like a vine, filling the entire flowerpot in an instant.

Shen Shen’s eyes widened in disbelief. He hadn’t expected the Little Celestial Master to have such an ability.

After his shock faded, he looked at Xia Sheng with an aggrieved expression. “If my rootlets can grow more rootlets, why didn’t you just pluck one and plant it before?”

Xia Sheng said with perfect confidence, “I forgot.”

Shen Shen: “…”

So mad.

There was one other thing Xia Sheng didn’t explain: although the ginseng roots forced into growth this way looked abundant, their actual potency was so low that ten of them only equaled one root from Shen Shen’s true body.

But since the aphrodisiac Jiang Shaobai wanted was already a watered-down version, these low-quality, artificially cultivated ginseng roots would be more than enough.

Xia Sheng asked Nanny Wang to bring over a knife, then shaved off all the ginseng roots.

Watching from the side, Shen Shen suddenly felt a phantom ache on his scalp and silently moved out of sight.

Once the harvest was finished, Xia Sheng went downstairs and was surprised to see Shen Yanchen, who had just come in from outside, in the living room.

Xia Sheng was puzzled. “Aren’t you supposed to be at work?”

Shen Yanchen explained, “I’m meeting some friends to play ball this afternoon. I came back to grab my gear.”

As he spoke, his gaze landed on the bulging bag of ginseng roots in Xia Sheng’s hand. He raised a brow. “Did you pluck Shen Shen bald?”

Xia Sheng shot back, “Do I look that brutal?”

Shen Yanchen nodded. “You do.”

Xia Sheng: “…”

Meeting the young woman’s slightly displeased gaze, Shen Yanchen couldn’t help laughing. He reached out and pinched her soft, bun-like cheek. “Want to come play golf with me?”

Xia Sheng smacked his hand away in dissatisfaction. “I don’t know how.”

“I’ll teach you.”

Xia Sheng was about to refuse again when Shen Yanchen cupped her face and pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead. In a low, deep voice, he said, “Just keep me company.”

Feeling that soft touch between her brows, Xia Sheng’s breath inexplicably caught. As if bewitched, she agreed.

Only after agreeing did she feel a little annoyed with herself.

Beauty truly could cloud the mind.

The ancients had not deceived her.
