Chapter 82
Chapter 82
The drunk man turned his bleary eyes toward them. When he saw two old men leading a group of young people gathered around to watch him pee, he immediately started cursing. “Damn it, bunch of perverts! You actually stand around watching someone use the bathroom? Have you got any sense of public decency?”
At the man’s words, Li Zhun couldn’t help muttering, “You’re the one relieving yourself wherever you please. Who’s the one with no public decency here?”
Though the man was drunk, his hearing was excellent.
The moment he heard Li Zhun, his temper flared. Rolling up his sleeves, he strode toward them.
“Hey, pretty boy, what the hell are you running your mouth for? You think you get to stick your nose into my business?”
As he spoke, he raised a hand to go after Li Zhun.
Seeing his disciple being bullied, Lan Chenghai’s gaze sharpened. He was just about to stop the man when a Red-dressed Female Ghost suddenly leaped straight down from the rooftop, her razor-sharp nails aimed directly at the man’s face.
Everyone present was shocked. Ding Jingshan reacted quickly, drawing his peach wood sword and swinging it toward the Female Ghost.
But in the end, he was still one step too late. Before his blade could strike the Female Ghost, her sharp nails had already pierced through the man’s skull. Then, with a violent upward yank, she tore the bones of his head away by sheer force.
Flesh ripped apart, and blood splattered across the ground.
A good deal of blood spattered across Ding Jingshan’s face as well. The disciples behind him were so horrified by the sight that some of the younger ones began retching.
Watching a life vanish right before his eyes, Ding Jingshan’s expression turned extremely grim. He hated himself for not having detected the Female Ghost’s presence sooner.
If he had sensed her earlier, this man would not have died.
At the thought, Ding Jingshan clenched his fists in frustration, his gaze turning sharp and venomous as he stared at that being among the Fierce Ghosts.
Sure enough, not a single one of these wandering souls was any good. They were all demons who killed without blinking!
Demons like these ought to be exterminated down to the last one!
Lan Chenghai’s expression also grew solemn. He immediately ordered the disciples, “This Fierce Ghosts has at least a hundred years of cultivation. All of you, retreat first!”
Hearing Lan Chenghai say that this Fierce Ghosts had a hundred years of cultivation, everyone’s expression changed.
A hundred-year Fierce Ghosts was extremely rare. These young disciples had only ever heard about such beings from their elders.
Supposedly, the last time a hundred-year Fierce Ghosts appeared was already ten years ago.
Back then, the association had sacrificed two elders before they had barely managed to subdue that Fierce Ghosts.
Now that a hundred-year Fierce Ghosts had appeared again, wouldn’t the two sect leaders also be in danger?
Li Zhun immediately said, “Master, I’m not leaving. I’ll stay and help you!”
With Li Zhun taking a stand, the other disciples echoed him one after another, saying they wanted to stay and help Lan Chenghai and Ding Jingshan eliminate this hundred-year Fierce Ghosts.
Ding Jingshan said coldly, “What use would you be if you stayed, aside from holding us back? All of you, get outside!”
Ding Jingshan’s tone was stern and icy, but everyone present knew he was trying to protect the disciples’ lives.
Li Zhun still wanted to say something, but Lan Chenghai spoke first. “All of you, fall back. Sect Leader Ding and I are only two people. It will be very difficult for us to protect all of you.”
Everyone hesitated for a moment, then finally nodded.
Seeing this, Ding Jingshan was somewhat annoyed. “Why do you listen when Lan Chenghai says it, but not when I do?”
Lan Chenghai shot him a sidelong glance. “Is now really the time to talk about that?”
Ding Jingshan snorted, lifted his peach wood sword, and once again charged toward the Fierce Ghosts.
Lan Chenghai thought of what Xia Sheng had said today, and a premonition rose in his heart: Ding Jingshan might very well die here today.
Although the two of them had been rivals since they were young, openly and covertly fighting for decades, they were also both enemies and friends.
He couldn’t simply stand by and watch Ding Jingshan die right before his eyes.
“Li Zhun,” Lan Chenghai called to the disciple who was about to leave.
Li Zhun turned back. “What are your orders?”
“Call Little Friend Xia and ask her to come here.”
That young friend possessed profound Daoist arts. Surely she could subdue this fierce ghost.
It would likely take Xia Sheng more than half an hour to arrive. If they stalled for time, they should be able to hold out until Xia Sheng got there.
Li Zhun nodded, calling Xia Sheng as he walked out.
After giving Li Zhun his instructions, Lan Chenghai was just about to turn back and fight the fierce ghost when he felt a sinister force strike toward him.
His heart jolted, and he hurriedly dodged to the side.
But in the end, he was still a step too late.
The female ghost’s sharp claws tore through Lan Chenghai’s left arm.
Black smoke immediately rose from the places where the female ghost’s nails had cut him.
Lan Chenghai inwardly cried that this was bad and quickly sealed his acupoints.
When he turned to look, he saw that Ding Jingshan had somehow already been seriously injured and was lying on the ground. A bloody hole had been torn open in his shoulder, and fresh blood was gushing out.
Lan Chenghai was shocked. He had not expected the fierce ghost to be this powerful.
He had originally thought that he and Ding Jingshan could hold out until Xia Sheng arrived, but now it seemed that might be difficult.
After her attack failed, the female ghost seemed to realize that Lan Chenghai’s defenses were stronger. She turned her target back to Ding Jingshan and lunged straight at him.
Since Lan Chenghai already knew Ding Jingshan might lose his life here tonight, he naturally could not watch helplessly as the fierce ghost killed him.
He recited the ghost-subduing incantation passed down by his ancestors, formed seals with his hands, and struck toward the fierce ghost.
Sensing danger behind her, the fierce ghost dodged to the side.
After avoiding Lan Chenghai’s attack, the female ghost pushed hard off the wall with both feet and pounced toward Lan Chenghai again, her sharp claws aimed straight at his face.
Lan Chenghai was startled. He hurriedly activated a spell and transformed into the Indestructible Vajra Body.
However, the fierce ghost’s cultivation was above his. Even though he had already formed the Indestructible Vajra Body, he still suffered a heavy blow, spat out a mouthful of blood, and was sent flying back to land beside Ding Jingshan.
Seeing him injured, Ding Jingshan still managed to joke. “You said I had an Omen of Great Misfortune today. From the look of things, you’re the same as me.”
Lan Chenghai had no time to trade words with him, because the fierce ghost had already attacked again.
Just as he was about to get up and rush forward, he saw Ding Jingshan pick up the peach wood sword with his uninjured left hand and directly meet the fierce ghost’s attack.
Lan Chenghai could tell that the fierce ghost had been thoroughly enraged by them, and this strike carried all her strength.
If Ding Jingshan faced it head-on, he would undoubtedly die.
Lan Chenghai hurriedly shouted, “Come back!”
Ding Jingshan had also sensed the female ghost’s surging Yin Energy and knew very well that he might die under her palm.
But if his strike succeeded, he would likely be able to severely injure the female ghost and win Lan Chenghai a slim chance of survival.
At that thought, Ding Jingshan did not hesitate. He charged at the female ghost with all his strength.
The instant his peach wood sword pierced the female ghost’s palm, the female ghost let out a scream. Her other sharp claw immediately slashed toward Ding Jingshan’s neck.
Ding Jingshan had already prepared himself to have his head severed.
But in the next second, a piece of Talisman Paper flew out of thin air and landed on the female ghost’s sharp claw.
“Ah!”
A scream even shriller than before rang out. The arm of the female ghost that had been struck by the Talisman Paper quickly began to burn, turning to ash in the blink of an eye.
