Chapter 146
Chapter 146
A sinister smile spread across the Old Daoist’s face, and Zhou Yichuan finally felt afraid. He turned toward the door and shouted for help, “Help! Help!”
But even though his mouth formed the words, he realized his throat couldn’t produce a single sound.
The Old Daoist sneered. “Stop wasting your effort. Since I dared to make my move, I naturally wasn’t going to let the people outside notice.”
Zhou Yichuan was furious, but the Old Daoist paid no attention to his anger. He found a brush, dipped it in Zhou Yichuan’s blood, and began drawing a Formation on the ground.
As the bizarre Formation pattern on the floor was completed bit by bit, fear welled up in Zhou Yichuan’s heart.
Even though he didn’t know what the Old Daoist was doing, he could vaguely sense that this Formation had something to do with him.
When the Old Daoist finally grabbed him by the collar and threw him into the center of the Formation, Zhou Yichuan completely panicked and desperately begged for mercy.
But he still couldn’t make a sound, and the Old Daoist had no intention of showing him the slightest pity. Instead, he opened the bundle he carried with him and took out an exquisite locked box.
He chanted a complicated incantation. After opening the box, he took out a Yin-Yang Fish Jade Pendant.
He had gone through endless hardship to create this thing.
The pendant was half black and half white, representing the two poles of yin and yang.
This jade pendant could balance yin and yang qi. When placed in an area thick with Baleful Qi, the black half would automatically absorb Yin Energy, then use the Formation inside the pendant to convert it into Spiritual Energy and assist a Daoist’s cultivation.
He had spent most of his life carving the Formation into the jade, failing time and again, only to keep trying after every setback.
It was only in the last few days that the Formation had finally taken shape.
Now there was only one final step left. As long as he used human blood as a sacrifice and forged it into Blood Jade, he would be able to activate the jade and make it work.
Though he had entered the Dao in this life, his natural talent was lacking, so he could only devote himself to studying various Formations and talisman. He had virtually no offensive power and very little ability to protect himself.
But once he had this Blood Jade, he would only need to devour Fierce Ghosts and convert the Yin Energy on them into Spiritual Energy for his cultivation to surge.
At that point, not only would that little girl from last time be no match for him, he would even have the power to fight several of the elders from the academy association.
Thinking of the little girl who had cut off one of his legs last time, intense hatred burst from the Old Daoist’s eyes. He wanted nothing more than to tear her to pieces.
That little bitch had severed one of his legs. Once his cultivation rose dramatically, he would make her repay the pain he had suffered that day a hundred times over, a thousand times over.
The Old Daoist placed the Yin-Yang Fish Jade Pendant at the other end of the Formation, directly opposite Zhou Yichuan.
Then he knelt beside the jade pendant, preparing to activate the Formation.
However, the moment he dropped to his knees, a clear female voice sounded from behind him.
“Is that a Yin-Yang Fish Jade Pendant?”
Hearing that familiar voice, the Old Daoist felt a chill run down his spine and turned around in terror.
But before he could even clearly see Xia Sheng’s face, Xia Sheng grabbed him by the throat, lifted him straight off the ground, and flung him aside.
With great interest, Xia Sheng bent down and picked up the jade pendant from the floor.
She had just been worrying about how to help Shen Yanchen enter the Dao, and now this rare treasure had practically fallen right into her lap.
Seeing Xia Sheng’s attention drawn away by the jade pendant, the Old Daoist scrambled up from the ground and tried to run.
But after only a few steps, Xia Sheng casually threw down Talismans on him. “Stay put.”
The moment he was hit, the Old Daoist’s entire body froze, locking him in place.
When Zhou Yichuan saw how terrified the Old Daoist was of Xia Sheng, he was stunned, but he immediately raised his voice and begged her for help.
This time, he successfully made a sound.
Realizing he could speak again, Zhou Yichuan was overjoyed and hurriedly said, “Xia Sheng, save me! As long as you save me, I’ll give you whatever benefit you want!”
Xia Sheng ignored him and walked over to the Old Daoist instead. “You stole that leg from someone else, didn’t you? You attached it pretty well, though.”
The Old Daoist’s face filled with terror. “Master, Little Immortal, I have no grudge against you, so why make things difficult for me?
“You’re a cultivator too. I have plenty of things here that can help increase your cultivation. If you let me go, I can give you all of it!”
Xia Sheng said expressionlessly, “If I kill you, won’t all your things still belong to me?”
The Old Daoist’s eyes widened in horror. “You can’t-ah!”
Before he could finish speaking, the leg that had only recently been reattached was severed again on the spot.
In another hospital room, the man who had been crying uncontrollably after losing a leg suddenly felt something strange beneath his blanket. He lifted it and, when he saw that his severed leg had somehow returned, his eyes went wide in disbelief. Overjoyed, he burst into tears and hugged his family.
After returning the leg to its rightful owner, Xia Sheng called the Special Management Bureau and told them to send someone over to handle the aftermath.
Although the Old Daoist had blood on his hands, Xia Sheng had no interest in dirtying her own.
Besides, she still wanted to take the Yin-Yang Fish Jade Pendant and go back to find Shen Yanchen, so she had no time to waste on the Old Daoist.
After hanging up, Zhou Yichuan saw that she was about to leave and pleaded for help again. “Xia Sheng, before you go, at least call a doctor for me! Otherwise I’m really going to bleed to death!”
Xia Sheng shot him a cold glance. “Don’t worry. You won’t die. At worst, you’ll just suffer a little more.”
She was fully capable of reattaching Zhou Yichuan’s leg, but he had done too many evil things, and she wasn’t someone who repaid evil with kindness. So she ignored him and teleported straight back to Shen Yanchen’s office, leaving Zhou Yichuan and the Old Daoist, those two legless wretches, in the hospital room cursing each other in despair.
When Shen Yanchen saw the girl suddenly disappear and then suddenly return, he asked, “Where did you go just now?”
A smile touched Xia Sheng’s lips as she placed the Yin-Yang Fish Jade Pendant in his palm.
“I found something good for you. Try gathering your Baleful Qi into this jade and see what happens.”
The Old Daoist had needed to activate the pendant with a blood sacrifice because he didn’t have enough Spiritual Power of his own to drive it.
But that wasn’t a problem for Xia Sheng.
Shen Yanchen closed his eyes and focused on it for a moment. He suddenly realized that the Yin Baleful Qi inside his body seemed to be getting sucked away by the pendant.
In its place came a steady, endless flow of Spiritual Energy.
He was astonished. “Where did you find this?”
“I stole it,” Xia Sheng said righteously. “With this, you’ll be able to cultivate and enter the Dao.”
Seeing how righteously the girl said that, Shen Yanchen couldn’t help laughing. He pulled her into his arms and held her tightly. “Thank you.”
He had always thought that what lay between him and Xia Sheng had been a one-sided crush on his part.
But it turned out the girl had always been thinking about him too.
Xia Sheng lifted her arms and hugged him back. “Once you enter the Dao, your lifespan will increase too. Then we can stay together forever.”
Smiling softly, Shen Yanchen pressed a kiss to Xia Sheng’s forehead. “Okay.”
From this day on, they would always be together, and they would always be happy.
(The End)
This was my first time writing a supernatural/mysticism novel, and there were a lot of plot holes and illogical parts. The results were too poor, so I decided to end it here. Thank you all for your support along the way. ♡
