Chapter 120
Chapter 120
After leaving the hospital, Sun Yang saw Xia Sheng home.
By the time the two of them reached the apartment building in her complex, it was just half past five in the afternoon.
Fang Rong had just come back from grocery shopping on her little electric scooter. When she saw a young, handsome man beside Xia Sheng, she asked, “Sheng’er, is this your classmate?”
Xia Sheng nodded. “Yeah. I helped him deal with something today, so he sent me home.”
“Hello, Auntie,” Sun Yang greeted obediently.
“Hello to you too.” Fang Rong liked polite, well-behaved kids, and she smiled until her eyes curved. “You haven’t eaten yet, have you? Since you’re already here, come upstairs and have dinner before you go.”
Sun Yang had originally wanted to decline, but Fang Rong was too warm and enthusiastic, so in the end, he agreed.
He was a hardworking sort. After going upstairs with Fang Rong, he took the initiative to help her prepare dinner in the kitchen.
Watching how diligent the young man was, Fang Rong’s eyes were full of approval.
While the two of them were busy inside, the doorbell rang again.
Xia Sheng was watching TV in the living room. Hearing it, she got up and went to open the door.
A tall, elegant man stood outside, carrying several gift boxes in his hand. His features were gentle and refined.
Xia Sheng froze for a moment. “What are you doing here?”
“A friend brought me some health supplements from overseas. I heard Aunt Fang hasn’t been sleeping well, so I brought them over for her specially.”
Behind Shen Yanchen, Lu Ren almost rolled his eyes when he heard what his Ninth Master said.
Those things had clearly been something Ninth Master sent him to buy that very afternoon at an international flagship store.
To lie so smoothly without even blinking, all just to see the Little Celestial Master… their Ninth Master really was getting more and more thick-skinned.
“You could’ve just had someone deliver these. You didn’t need to make a special trip.” Xia Sheng stepped aside to let Shen Yanchen in.
As Shen Yanchen walked inside, he said, “Aren’t you coming to see me tonight to work on Talismans? We’ll be meeting either way, so if I come to you, it saves you the trouble.”
Xia Sheng felt that made sense, so she didn’t say anything more. Instead, she turned to Lu Ren. “Are you coming in too?”
Lu Ren quickly waved his hands. “No need. I’m meeting a friend for drinks tonight.”
What a joke. Ninth Master rarely got time alone with the Little Celestial Master. If he, an outsider, stayed around, wouldn’t he just be asking to be disliked?
What he hadn’t expected, though, was that while he had no intention of being a third wheel, there was already another one in the house.
“Xia Sheng, Aunt Fang asked me to check whether you want scallions in the steamed egg…”
Sun Yang stopped halfway through his sentence when he noticed the two extra people standing in the entryway.
Lu Ren: Oh ho.
Wasn’t this the man in the photo who seemed especially close to the Little Celestial Master?
Shen Ze had even sent him a copy of the photo that afternoon, the one of the two of them walking together.
His Ninth Master’s face had been dark all afternoon. Lu Ren guessed it was because of that photo.
He had originally assumed those two were just ordinary friends. He hadn’t expected the guy to be brought all the way home.
Wasn’t this basically a love triangle showdown?
Excitement flashed in Lu Ren’s eyes, and for a moment, he suddenly didn’t want to leave anymore.
But when he noticed the cold, grim expression on his master’s face, he decided his life mattered more and quietly shut the door behind him as he left.
Shen Yanchen looked at Sun Yang, his handsome features expressionless. “Sheng’er, aren’t you going to introduce him?”
Xia Sheng didn’t notice anything off in his tone and explained, “His name is Sun Yang. He’s my classmate.”
“Just a classmate?”
“What else would he be?”
Shen Yanchen felt somewhat reassured.
Across from him, however, after seeing Shen Yanchen’s face, something seemed off about Sun Yang. He looked strangely excited, and even his voice trembled slightly as he asked, “Xia Sheng, who is this?”
Xia Sheng said, “Shen Yanchen, my boyfriend.”
Hearing Xia Sheng introduce him to an outsider as her boyfriend, the last trace of gloom on Shen Yanchen’s face disappeared completely. A faint smile curved his thin lips, and the smile in his eyes was impossible to hide.
But Sun Yang, standing opposite them, completely ignored the words “my boyfriend.” All he caught was Shen Yanchen’s name, and his eyes instantly lit up. “Shen Yanchen? Is he really Shen Ninth Master of the Shen Family? In person!?”
Xia Sheng didn’t understand why Sun Yang was so excited, but she still nodded. “It’s him.”
At that, Sun Yang immediately grew excited. He quickly walked over to Shen Yanchen, his eyes sparkling as he said, “Sh-Shen Ninth Master, hello! I’m a huge fan of your career achievements!
“I’ve heard my dad talk about your accomplishments for years! I heard that Ruihua was on the verge of bankruptcy a couple of years ago, and after you acquired it, you brought it back to life. That business case was even included in economics textbooks. I’ve read it over and over so many times! I never thought I’d run into you here!”
Sun Yang chattered away for quite a while, then nervously rubbed his hands together. “Ninth Master, c-could I shake your hand?”
Shen Yanchen wasn’t very fond of getting close to strangers, but compared to gaining one more love rival, having one more little fangirl-no, fanboy-was obviously better.
So he held out his hand and gave Sun Yang a light, token shake.
Unexpectedly, Sun Yang grabbed it and held on tight. “I-I-I actually shook my idol’s hand! I’m never washing this hand again for the rest of my life!”
Shen Yanchen: “…”
Was there something wrong with Sheng’er’s classmate’s head?
Before he could finish that thought, the girl suddenly reached out, pulled Sun Yang away, and dragged Shen Yanchen behind her, shielding him like a mother hen protecting her chick.
“One handshake is enough. Don’t take it too far.”
Her tone was utterly calm, but for some reason, Shen Yanchen heard a trace of domineering possessiveness in it.
Realizing Xia Sheng might be jealous, Shen Yanchen let out a low chuckle. He turned his hand over and clasped the girl’s soft hand in his palm instead, giving it a light squeeze, his mood instantly brightening.
Only then did Sun Yang belatedly realize that he had gotten a bit too excited just now. He scratched his head awkwardly. “Sorry, I just got too excited seeing my idol.
“Ninth Master, what do you want to eat tonight? I’ll have someone order it right away. Even if you want French cuisine, I’ll have it airlifted in for you!”
Shen Yanchen: That really won’t be necessary.
Xia Sheng said, “Uncle Nine likes home-style dishes. Just make something simple.”
“Got it. I’ll go cook for Ninth Master right now!” Sun Yang said, then ran back to the kitchen in high spirits.
After Sun Yang left, Xia Sheng tried to pull her hand back from Shen Yanchen’s grasp, but he held on and refused to let go. He even used a little force, tugging her into his arms before lowering his eyes to look at her with a half-smile.
“Were you jealous just now?”
“Jealous of what?” Xia Sheng asked, a little confused.
Most of the time, people can see other people’s feelings clearly enough, but when it comes to themselves, they can’t make sense of it at all. She had no idea there was anything unusual about what she’d done.
“Just now,” Shen Yanchen said, quietly holding the girl in his arms and explaining with great patience, “when Sun Yang grabbed me, were you unhappy?”
Xia Sheng answered honestly, “A little.”
“Then that’s it.” The smile in Shen Yanchen’s eyes deepened.
It seemed his place in Sheng’er’s heart ran much deeper than he’d thought.
With that thought, Shen Yanchen couldn’t resist cupping the girl’s face, wanting to kiss her.
