Chapter 48

Xia Sheng thought for a moment and said, “I have a long lecture this afternoon, so I’ll head over tonight.”

“What time do you finish class? I’ll wait for you here.”

“Around three-twenty.”

“Alright, I’ll wait for you here then.”

With the matter settled, Xia Sheng returned to campus. Once her afternoon classes were over, she followed Bai Sha to her home.

Upon arriving, Xia Sheng walked through the villa a few times, instructing Bai Sha to have people rearrange the furniture and decor according to her directions.

The villa was massive, and the group spent nearly two hours completing this monumental task.

Once they were finished, Bai Sha and Wu Yuhan invited Xia Sheng out to dinner.

As they walked into the restaurant, Wu Yuhan noticed a man and a woman sitting by the window. She took several long looks to confirm her suspicions.

“Sha Sha, didn’t you tell me today that Wang Songjiang signed up for a tour group and went traveling?”

Bai Sha nodded. “Why bring him up all of a sudden?”

Wu Yuhan pointed toward the window, gritting her teeth. “Because I’m looking right at him, that’s why.”

Bai Sha followed the direction of Wu Yuhan’s finger and indeed saw her husband sitting there.

Across from him sat a young, beautiful woman.

Bai Sha’s expression darkened when she saw the handbag resting beside the woman.

That bag was an out-of-style piece she had intended to sell second-hand. At the time, Wang Songjiang had claimed he knew someone who specialized in auctioning pre-owned luxury bags, so she had handed it over to him to handle.

She never expected her own belongings would be used by her husband to curry favor with another woman.

Seeing her friend’s grim expression, Wu Yuhan wanted to offer a few words of comfort, but Bai Sha was already striding toward the table.

Wang Songjiang was laughing and chatting with the woman when he suddenly felt a shadow loom over him.

Just as he was about to turn his head, the woman standing by the table picked up a bowl of scalding hot soup and dumped it directly onto his face.

Wang Songjiang let out a scream like a slaughtered pig. The surrounding diners were startled, their heads turning toward the commotion.

The woman sitting across from him was also terrified. Unsure of what was happening, she hurriedly pulled out some tissues to hand to him.

“Songjiang, are you okay?”

Wang Songjiang slapped the woman’s hand away, glaring furiously at Bai Sha, who had just drenched him.

“Who the hell are you?! Are you crazy-” His cursing came to a screeching halt the moment he saw Bai Sha’s face. His eyes widened in disbelief. “Sha Sha? What are you doing here?”

The corners of Bai Sha’s mouth curled into a mocking sneer. “Wang Songjiang, you’ve certainly grown capable, haven’t you? Traveling all the way here? And with a woman in tow?”

Snapping back to his senses, Wang Songjiang immediately tried to explain. “No, Sha Sha, this person is just a frien-”

Bai Sha let out a cold laugh. “Just a friend? Would you give a ‘just a friend’ my hundred-thousand-yuan second-hand bag? Am I the idiot here, or are you?

“Wang Songjiang, we’re both adults. I’m not going to waste my breath arguing or getting into a physical fight with you.

“Let’s get a divorce. You’re leaving with nothing. I’ll have my lawyer send over the divorce papers tomorrow.”

With that, Bai Sha turned to leave.

Everything had happened so fast that it took Wang Songjiang several seconds to recover. He reached out to grab Bai Sha’s hand.

He currently relied entirely on Bai Sha for his lifestyle. The luxury cars and the mansion all belonged to her; even the prestige he enjoyed in his social circle was provided by her. If Bai Sha actually divorced him, wouldn’t he be the laughingstock of everyone he knew?

“Sha Sha, it’s really not what you think…”

However, before Wang Songjiang’s hand could touch her, Bai Sha dodged him with a look of pure disgust. “Don’t touch me! You make me sick!”
Wang Songjiang was a tall man with a resolute, handsome face.

But now, he was covered in thick, viscous soup. To anyone watching, it was a revolting sight.

Bai Sha was already sick to her stomach over his infidelity, and seeing him covered in filth only made her feel more repulsed.

Meeting Bai Sha’s gaze-a look that treated him like some sort of disgusting insect-Wang Songjiang felt his self-esteem being trampled under her feet.

During their years of marriage, he had lived off her and used her resources, always falling short of her in every way.

When dining out with friends, many would whisper behind his back that he was a “phoenix man” who lacked real ability. Consequently, he always felt that his dignity and pride as a man were being crushed by Bai Sha.

Resentment had been festering in his heart for a long time. Now, under that look of hers, a surge of fury instantly boiled over.

“Bai Sha, what’s with that look?”

He grabbed her wrist and ground his teeth. “You’ve always looked down on me, haven’t you? You’re just a hen that can’t lay eggs. What right do you have to look at me like that?

“If it weren’t for the fact that you’re barren, why would I have thought about finding a woman on the outside to give me a child? You can’t give birth, yet you won’t even let me find someone else who can?!

“And you want a divorce? Do you have any idea what you’re worth? I’ve slept with you for so many years; if you divorce me, you’ll just be second-hand goods. Do you think any man will want you then?

“You’re thirty-five this year. No man besides me would ever want you. You’d better think long and hard about this divorce, or it might not be me who ends up regretting it!”

Accustomed to Wang Songjiang’s usually gentle demeanor, Bai Sha only now realized what kind of creature the man she had loved for years truly was.

In his eyes, she was nothing more than a hen that couldn’t lay eggs-a piece of second-hand goods!

Her chest heaved with rage. Suppressing her fury with all her might, she hissed through gritted teeth, “Trying to PUA me? I’m not falling for it! Let go of me! Or I’m calling the police!”

Wang Songjiang wasn’t intimidated at all. “Call them! Go ahead! Even the most upright official finds it hard to settle family disputes. Let’s see if the police can do anything about this!

“You want a divorce? Keep dreaming! Unless you give me half of your assets, I will never agree to it!”

“Dreaming of snagging half an estate with empty hands, are we?”

Xia Sheng’s voice rang out leisurely. Wang Songjiang snapped his head around to look at her.

Seeing a young girl standing before him, he growled without restraint, “Where did this woman come from? Get lost, or I’ll deal with you myself!”

Xia Sheng raised an eyebrow. Instead of backing away, she took a few steps closer.

She reached out and placed her hand on his wrist.

Wang Songjiang frowned, preparing to shout at her again.

*Crack!*

The sound of a bone snapping echoed from his wrist. Wang Songjiang couldn’t help but howl in pain, and his grip on Bai Sha loosened.

Bai Sha seized the opportunity to scramble away. Xia Sheng let go of Wang Songjiang and delivered a sweeping kick, sending him and the table crashing to the floor.

Still dripping with soup, Wang Songjiang lay amidst the wreckage, looking utterly pathetic.

The other diners in the restaurant, startled by the commotion, hurried to the front desk to settle their bills and leave.

The manager rushed over as soon as he heard the news, only to be met with this disastrous scene.

He approached Bai Sha. “Ma’am, this…”

Bai Sha said decisively, “I will cover the meal costs for everyone dining here today, provide compensation for their distress, and pay for all the restaurant’s damages.”
