Chapter 58

Hearing that, Zhou Yichuan froze for a moment.

He held it in for a few seconds, but in the end, he couldn’t help asking, “What was Auntie planning to do originally?”

A flicker of triumph flashed through Xia Zhiruo’s eyes. “I don’t know the details either. Why don’t you go ask my mom yourself?

“I wasn’t going to tell you about this, but my mom kept reminding me that after tonight, there won’t be another chance. She told me to let you know and let you choose for yourself.”

After saying that, she put on a heartbroken expression. “Brother Yichuan, you aren’t really thinking of choosing my sister, are you?

“If you like her, then go find my mom. I won’t stop you.”

Zhou Yichuan hadn’t originally planned on going to find Yu He, but when he heard Xia Zhiruo say there would be no chance after tonight, he immediately grew anxious.

He stopped walking and said, “Zhiruo, I should go ask Auntie what she wants to do.

“Don’t worry. I would never betray our engagement. I’m only going to tell your mom clearly that the one I like is you, and that she shouldn’t try to break us apart anymore.”

Xia Zhiruo sneered inwardly, but her face showed only sadness.

“All right. You promised you won’t betray me.”

Zhou Yichuan nodded, then hurried away.

The group entered the card room. Someone noticed Zhou Yichuan was gone and asked Xia Zhiruo, “Zhiruo, where did Brother Chuan go? Wasn’t he just talking to you?”

Xia Zhiruo smiled. “He told me he had something to do. I don’t know what he went off to handle.”

As she spoke, she pulled out the chair beside the card table and sat down across from Xia Sheng.

The dealer briefly explained the rules to the two of them, then began dealing the cards.

In the first round, Xia Sheng lost.

A smug smile appeared on Xia Zhiruo’s face, and she had someone pour the wine.

She had tampered with the cards. There was no way she would lose today’s game.

She had also added something to those bottles of wine. Drinking just a little wouldn’t do anything, but if someone drank too much, even a towering six-foot-six hulk of a man wouldn’t be able to withstand the drug’s effects.

And once it was mixed into the wine, even if Xia Sheng sensed something was wrong, she would only think the alcohol was making her feel unwell. She wouldn’t be able to pin it on Xia Zhiruo.

Xia Sheng took the glass and drained it in one go.

In the second round, the dealer began dealing.

Xia Sheng lost.

In the third round, Xia Sheng lost.

In the fourth round, Xia Sheng lost.

Shen Ze had thought Xia Sheng must be some kind of expert in this field since she agreed to gamble at cards. In the end, Xia Sheng lost four rounds in a row.

Seeing Xia Sheng pick up the fourth glass of wine, Shen Ze couldn’t stay calm anymore.

“Little Celestial Master, why don’t I drink the rest of the wine for you?”

Watching Xia Sheng lose every hand had him on edge.

It wasn’t that he felt bad about the money. No matter how much they lost, Uncle Nine would reimburse him anyway.

It was just that Xia Sheng had already drunk so much. When he went back, he was afraid he wouldn’t be able to explain himself.

Last time the Little Celestial Master got drunk, he had nearly been murdered by Uncle Nine’s glare. If it happened again today, was he still going to make it out alive?

Before Xia Sheng could speak, Xia Zhiruo said, “Whoever plays the cards drinks the wine. No substitutes. Don’t tell me you can’t afford to lose?”

Shen Ze gritted his teeth. “Who can’t afford to lose? I suspect you’re cheating! Otherwise, how could the Little Celestial Master possibly have such bad luck and lose four rounds in a row?”

Guilt flashed through Xia Zhiruo’s eyes, but she quickly hid it.

“Cheating? This card room belongs to the hotel. It’s not like I own the hotel. How could I possibly cheat?”

Shen Ze was getting angry. Xia Sheng gave him a look, signaling him to stay calm, then turned to Xia Zhiruo and said, “Since I can afford to play, I can afford to lose.

“How about this? Let’s play ten more rounds at the end, and raise the stakes to ten million per round. What do you think?”

The moment she said that, everyone else thought Xia Sheng had gone crazy.

Was this what they meant by terrible at the game but addicted to playing?
This was it!

She had already lost four million. If the stakes were raised to ten million a round for ten rounds, that would be a hundred million!

The young masters and heiresses here all came from money, but none of their families were among the very top households in Capital City. A hundred million was no small sum to them.

Xia Sheng was acting exactly like a gambling addict, always convinced she would win the next round.

Sooner or later, she would lose everything down to her underwear.

Xia Zhiruo also thought Xia Sheng had lost her mind.

Wasn’t she basically rushing to hand her money?

The deck had been tampered with. Wouldn’t earning another hundred million be as easy as lifting a finger?

Making a hundred million in one night-her father’s company only made that much in net profit in an entire quarter!

“Fine. Ten more rounds. No quitting halfway,” Xia Zhiruo agreed readily.

Afraid Xia Sheng would go back on her word, she added another condition. “If anyone wants to quit midway, they have to compensate the other party two hundred million. Do you dare agree?”

Xia Sheng remained composed, as calm as a drifting cloud. “Sure.”

As she spoke, a faint smile appeared at the corner of her lips.

“I hope Miss Xia won’t regret it later either.”

Xia Zhiruo was brimming with confidence. “As long as you don’t regret it, I naturally won’t.

“There are so many people watching, and the card room has surveillance cameras. No one can deny their debt.”

Xia Sheng said nothing more and had the dealer deal the cards.

In the fifth round, Xia Sheng won.

Xia Zhiruo’s expression shifted slightly, and she shot the dealer a glare.

The dealer was also a little stunned. She had clearly dealt the best hand to Xia Zhiruo, so why had the cards in their hands been switched?

The others watching immediately perked up, shocked that Xia Sheng had managed to turn the situation around in a single round.

Not only had she made back the four million she lost earlier, she was now up by six million!

“How did Xia Sheng’s luck suddenly get so good? Could she have been deliberately losing to Xia Zhiruo earlier to coax her into raising the stakes?”

“Oh, please. What do you think Xia Sheng is, some kind of deity? That she can win whenever she wants? I think it’s just luck.”

The others all treated Xia Sheng’s victory this round as luck, but Xia Zhiruo realized things weren’t that simple.

That Sorceress Xia Sheng could control her body. Did that mean she could also control the dealer’s body and make her switch the cards?

At that thought, unease began to churn in Xia Zhiruo’s heart.

A server beside her picked up the wine on the table and poured her a glass.

Xia Zhiruo clenched her fists and did not take it.

Xia Sheng watched her leisurely and raised a brow. “Miss Xia, if you don’t drink, does that mean you want to end the game?

“Don’t forget, you were the one who said just now that anyone who doesn’t want to continue has to compensate the other party two hundred million.”

Hearing this, Xia Zhiruo gritted her teeth.

Xia Sheng had dug a pit and was making her jump into it!

And yet she had no choice but to jump!

Two hundred million in cash-how could her father possibly take out that much money for her?

Xia Zhiruo gritted her teeth, took the glass, closed her eyes, and drank it.

Shen Ze had also figured out Xia Sheng’s plan, and inwardly, he could only shout that the Little Celestial Master was awesome.

She had first put out bait to lure Xia Zhiruo in, cut off all her escape routes, and then pinned her to the floor and wiped it with her!

He had said it before: aside from being a little bad at games, the Little Celestial Master was never unreliable in anything else!

After Xia Zhiruo finished the glass of wine, the dealer continued dealing.

Many people had written Xia Sheng’s previous win off as good luck. But once Xia Sheng won the sixth round, the seventh round, and then the eighth round, no one present dared say it was just luck anymore.

If someone could win this many rounds purely by luck, then they might as well go buy a lottery ticket and take first prize, all right!?

After losing five rounds in a row, Xia Zhiruo’s hands were already trembling.

Five rounds. After deducting the four million Xia Sheng had lost at the start, Xia Zhiruo had now lost forty-six million to Xia Sheng.

If she kept losing like this…
