Chapter 81

Shen Yanchen put his phone away and asked, “Are you heading back now? I’ll drive you.”

“It’s fine. I’ll just teleport back.”

Jiang Shaobai: “?”

Teleport?

“Are you two filming a sci-fi movie or something?”

Xia Sheng seemed to have only just noticed there was an outsider present. Her gaze landed on Jiang Shaobai, paused for a moment, and then she said, “You and your wife have been married for about three years, right?”

Jiang Shaobai nodded. “What about it?”

Xia Sheng continued, “Has your wife always complained that you don’t last very long?”

Jiang Shaobai: “…”

Damn it.

Was that something she could just say out loud?

Did he not need his dignity?

Jiang Shaobai coughed again and was just about to say something when Xia Sheng spoke first. “You cough often. That’s a sign of internal cold and deficiency. You’d be better off recuperating a little.

“I happen to have a medicine here that can nourish yin and strengthen yang. If you need it, I can sell it to you at a friends-and-family price.”

Jiang Shaobai: “…”

So the little girl Shen Yanchen had found was a Charlatan who sold fake medicine?

“Little girl, I’m perfectly healthy. I don’t need any medicine. You should save that stuff for Shen Yanchen.”

Xia Sheng said, “I’ve already given it to him, but it didn’t have much effect.”

Jiang Shaobai: “?”

He glanced at Shen Yanchen. “You have kidney deficiency?”

Shen Yanchen: “…”

That misunderstanding was ancient history by now.

He hadn’t expected the girl to still remember it.

“I’m not deficient.”

Xia Sheng found that odd. “Then why did you ask me for that kind of medicine before?”

Shen Yanchen really had no way to explain that.

Seeing that Shen Yanchen offered no explanation, Jiang Shaobai took it as the truth. He looked at Shen Yanchen with sympathy and patted him on the shoulder. “I know an old traditional Chinese medicine doctor I’ve been seeing regularly. I’ve gone to him for treatment these past few years. If you need, I can recommend him to you.”

Shen Yanchen said coolly, “If that old doctor really worked, why are you still this weak after years of treatment?”

Jiang Shaobai: Right in the heart.

Xia Sheng said, “How about this? If you don’t trust my formula, I can give you a trial sample first. If you think it works, you can come back to me for more.”

Originally, she had planned to commercialize the medicine directly and turn it into a product for the public.

But Jiang Zhongqing had said that even if the medicine was highly effective, it couldn’t be put on the market and sold right away.

For a medicine to go from clinical trials to release, it would take at least more than a year.

Before that, this medicine could not be officially launched or sold in large quantities. She could only find clients herself and earn as much pocket money as possible.

The more money she earned and donated, the more Merit she could accumulate, which would greatly benefit the restoration of her Soul Body.

Jiang Shaobai asked suspiciously, “This medicine of yours isn’t some unlicensed, no-name product, is it?”

Xia Sheng paused, then said, “No.”

Jiang Shaobai: Then what was that pause just now for?

Before he could suspect anything else, Shen Yanchen said, “I’ve tried this medicine. It’s very useful. You can take it home and see for yourself.”

Jiang Shaobai didn’t believe Xia Sheng, but he still trusted Shen Yanchen a great deal.

If it was something that would truly harm his body, Shen Yanchen wouldn’t casually let him take it.

Over the years, Jiang Shaobai had already seen many old traditional Chinese medicine doctors, but none of them had been effective.

In any case, he was already useless now. There was nothing to lose by trying Xia Sheng’s medicine.

“Fine, then. Give me one course of treatment first.”

“One pill of my medicine is effective for three days. Take one back and try it first.”

After saying that, Xia Sheng took a small glass bottle out of her little bag.
She handed it to Jiang Shaobai.

Jiang Shaobai glanced at the black pill in the bottle. He couldn’t tell what it was made of, and though he still had his doubts, he accepted it anyway.

After giving out the trial medicine, Xia Sheng said a quick goodbye to Shen Yanchen, then teleported straight back to the neighborhood near her apartment complex.

Jiang Shaobai stared at the little girl who had vanished into thin air right in front of him, his eyes going wide in disbelief. “Yanchen, where did that whole grown girl of yours go? How did she just disappear?”

Shen Yanchen didn’t explain. He only said, “It’s getting late. You should go home and rest too.”

With that, Shen Yanchen turned and went upstairs.

Only belatedly did Jiang Shaobai remember Xia Sheng saying she would teleport back.

So that hadn’t been a joke. It was real.

Old Master Jiang believed in Buddhism and had frequent dealings with people from the Mystic Sect, so Jiang Shaobai knew such extraordinary individuals existed. He just hadn’t expected Shen Yanchen’s young girlfriend to be one of the Mystic Sect as well.

If that little girl really was that capable, then the pill she’d given him probably had miraculous effects too.

At that thought, he immediately grew excited. He tucked the pill away and hurried home, eager to get intimate with his wife.

Meanwhile, in Yanyun District.

Lan Chenghai cast a divination and narrowed down the area where the Fierce Ghosts might appear, then led several disciples to search the vicinity.

However, after several hours, they still came up empty-handed.

Ding Jingshan’s tone was displeased. “President Lan, are you sure your divination is accurate? Why have our people searched for so long and still not found that evil Fierce Ghosts?”

Lan Chenghai said, “The Shushan Sect’s skill in divination is the strongest among all sects and schools. If Sect Leader Ding doesn’t trust me, you’re welcome to cast another hexagram yourself.”

Ding Jingshan gave a cold snort. “Strongest in the Mystic Sect? Sounds to me like that’s just a title you gave yourselves.

“Back when they chose the association president, that bunch of old fools must have been blind. They couldn’t see the merits of our Xuan Kong Sect, so they chose you instead.

“If we’re really comparing, our Xuan Kong Sect is still superior.”

Lan Chenghai didn’t waste more words arguing with him. He simply cast another divination.

After confirming that the Fierce Ghosts was indeed in this area, Lan Chenghai remembered what Xia Sheng had said today and, while he was at it, calculated Ding Jingshan’s fortune for the day.

When he saw the hexagram, he couldn’t help frowning.

Xia Sheng had only said Ding Jingshan would suffer a bloody disaster, not how serious it would be.

Lan Chenghai had originally thought it would just be some minor injury or mishap.

But now, looking at his hexagram, it was clearly an Omen of Great Misfortune.

He turned back to Ding Jingshan and said, “I just cast a divination for you. The hexagram shows great misfortune, which matches what the Little Fellow Daoist calculated. Perhaps you should go back first…”

“Oh, spare me,” Ding Jingshan cut him off before Lan Chenghai could finish. “Old man, it’s one thing if you usually can’t stand me, but don’t go cursing me.

“I am the dignified leader of the Xuan Kong Sect. Do you really think some Fierce Ghosts can take my life?”

Seeing that Ding Jingshan didn’t believe him, Lan Chenghai shook his head and said no more. He continued leading his disciples in the search.

The group took their compasses and searched the area again, eventually stopping in front of a narrow alley.

Lan Chenghai’s eldest disciple, Li Zhun, said, “Master, the Yin Energy here is extremely heavy. That Fierce Ghosts must be inside.”

Lan Chenghai nodded gravely and led the others into the alley.

When they reached the middle section, the group encountered a drunk man.

The man was humming a little tune as he undid his pants and urinated by the roadside.

At the sight, Lan Chenghai couldn’t help frowning. Ding Jingshan said outright in disgust, “No sense of public decency. Filthy!”

Lan Chenghai stepped forward and warned the man, “Sir, this place is dangerous. Please leave at once.”
