Chapter 261
Chapter 261
Back at Two Realms Mountain in the Yin-Yang Realm, Ghost Buddha Faceless was gradually losing ground beneath the combined assault of the two evil sect masters and their ghostly horde.
Hua Jiunan had utterly exhausted both body and mind and still lay unable to move.
Seeing the situation worsen, Chen Daji paced frantically in circles.
“Eighth Master, can’t you show some backbone and go help Bald Brother?”
Eighth Master Chang shook his head like a rattle drum.
“Quit trying to fool me, little bastard! Our main task now is protecting the young master physician… and his mother. If anything happens to either of them, my Eldest Brother will skin me alive!”
His reason for staying out of the fight was unassailable, so Chen Daji could not keep urging him. He turned to Zhao Fei instead.
“Fatty Zhao, how about the two of us…”
They knew one another so well that when Chen Daji raised his backside, Zhao Fei could tell how many turds he meant to drop. He cut him off before he could finish.
“Shut up, Little Rooster! If you want to help, go by yourself. Fat Lord knows his limits. If I join that fight, I’ll only give the evil ghosts an extra meal, and a damn supersized nutritious one at that!”
Rejected by both companions, Chen Daji was not discouraged. Standing by while his own side was surrounded and beaten was not in his nature.
His eyes spun rapidly. Looking at Hua Jiunan in Zhao Fei’s arms, he finally had an idea.
He suddenly dropped to his knees and began wailing like a village shrew, slapping his claw-like hands against the ground. His broken-gong voice rang across Two Realms Mountain.
“Oh, heavens! Boss, those filthy things smashed you to death! Your big head is in pieces, and your hips have been split apart!”
As his cries spread, the temperature plummeted again. Bloodred hailstones began falling in place of snow. The suspended blood moon flickered as if it might explode at any moment.
Nether winds howled and formed a black tornado above Ghost Buddha Faceless. The solemn chanting stopped abruptly, replaced by boundless hatred and curses.
Seeing the Ghost Buddha’s terrifying transformation, Luo Menghong and Faqing immediately ceased their attack and retreated with the horde, watching him warily.
Like a rusted machine, Ghost Buddha Faceless slowly turned toward Chen Daji. His bronze mask had become entirely bloodred, and ghostly fire exploded in his eye sockets with a string of sharp cracks.
“My! Brother! Is! Truly! Dead?!”
Every word rose into the heavens laden with murderous intent.
Under the immense pressure, Chen Daji nearly blurted out the truth. Fortunately, his resolve held. Clenching his molars, he kept up the bald-faced lie and continued provoking Faceless.
“B-Bald Brother, Boss really is dead. If you don’t believe me, come feel him yourself. More than half his butt is already cold…”
Ghost Buddha Faceless slowly turned back toward Luo Menghong and Faqing amid hysterical laughter.
“Hehehe! Heaven and Earth are heartless, and the Buddha knows no compassion! Brother is dead, so why are you two still alive?”
Under Faceless’s utterly inhuman gaze, the two evil sect masters felt their souls shake. A chill rose from their deepest spirits.
At that moment, they hated Chen Daji with all their hearts. Where had this scoundrel come from? He was so wicked he practically smoked. Had his elders never taught him that good children did not lie? Why couldn’t everyone behave properly and settle the matter in a fair contest of strength? Why provoke this madman for no reason? Now the madman had lost every last shred of humanity.
And was Ghost Buddha Faceless doing this on purpose? As a corpse-liberated immortal, how could he lack such basic sense? Who had ever seen a ghost die and leave a corpse behind? Half his butt had gone cold? Who was that supposed to fool?
The worst part was that one of these two dared say it, and the other truly dared believe it.
As Faceless approached, Luo Menghong realized that if he did nothing, even the mercy of having his soul destroyed would be beyond reach. He waved both hands urgently to show he wished to speak.
“The True-Void Homeland. The Unborn Parents! Master, please quell your vajra wrath. This humble Daoist has something to report!”
With death upon him, Faqing could no longer tolerate Luo Menghong’s affected politeness and shouted after him.
“Namo Amitabha! My Buddha, my venerable Patriarch, look carefully. That boy is lying! Daoist Master Hua isn’t dead. He isn’t even injured. I… this humble monk believes the wind was merely knocked out of him!”
