Chapter 75

Upon hearing this news, a wave of lingering fear washed over Old Sixth Hui.

It was a stroke of luck that the thing in the tomb hadn’t emerged during the night Hua Jiunan was at the archaeological site. Otherwise, even if the entire Gray Immortal lineage had sacrificed themselves, they wouldn’t have been able to stop it.

His own life or death was a small matter, but if something had happened to Hua Jiunan, Old Sixth Hui’s guilt would have been immeasurable!

After listening to the explanation, Chen Daji became even more worried about his father.

“Grandmother, Old Immortals, you have to think of a way to deal with him! If that thing comes out, the first person it’ll kill is my dad!”

“This…” The Immortal Spirits immediately fell into a difficult position.

Everyone is inherently selfish; few act without personal gain. The Immortal Spirits were no different. They weren’t about to risk their lives against a “fierce deity,” as Lord Hu San called it, for the sake of an unrelated person.

Seeing that no one was speaking, Hemp-clad Grandmother spoke up helplessly.

“You little brat, you heard them. It’s not that we don’t want to help you deal with it, but that thing is too fierce. We have no certainty of success! If it really comes down to it…”

At this point, Hemp-clad Grandmother looked a bit embarrassed. “If it really comes down to it, you should just have your dad slit his own throat and commit suicide. After he dies, I’ll hide his soul in Hemp-clad Mountain. That’s better than having his soul scattered by that fierce deity.”

Chen Daji was on the verge of tears after hearing this.

“Grandmother, isn’t there any other way? First you tell me to hang myself, and now you want my dad to slit his throat. Isn’t that the same as my whole family being wiped out?”

Chen Daji was clearly telling a tragic story, but Hua Jiunan couldn’t help but let out a small laugh. However, under Chen Daji’s resentful gaze, he quickly suppressed it.

“Ahem, don’t worry, Daji. I’ll definitely do my best to help you!”

Chen Daji’s gaze became even more resentful. “Big Brother, don’t joke around. You don’t even know how to draw talismans. How are you going to fight the guy in the tomb?”

When Hua Jiunan offered to help Chen Daji, Old Sixth Hui couldn’t sit still anymore.

“If the young master physician wants to deal with that fierce deity, I, Old Sixth Hui, will certainly help! Even if my soul is scattered, I’ll fight that thing to the end!”

Hemp-clad Grandmother gave Old Sixth Hui a cold glance. “You think you’re the only one who can?! I care about these two grandsons of mine too! If it really comes to risking lives, I’ll be the first one to step up! But we need to study this matter carefully. I’m afraid there’s no hope in a direct confrontation…”

Chang Huaiyuan remained the most composed.

“To deal with the thing in the tomb, we would have to invite Lord Hu San or Elder Pine.”

After Chang Huaiyuan finished speaking, everyone turned their gaze toward Hu Qingshan.

Hu Qingshan showed a look of difficulty. “As you all know, my ancestor hasn’t concerned himself with worldly affairs for a long time. He said that if it weren’t for the past relationship with the young master physician’s ancestors, he wouldn’t have even sent us a message.”

Hua Jiunan was incredibly moved upon hearing this.

“Brother Qingshan, your ancestor knows about my origins?!”

Note: After Hua Jiunan grew old enough to understand things, Deaf Granny and Old Li hadn’t hidden the truth from him. Instead, they had told him everything about his origins. They only cautioned him not to be in a hurry to seek out the killers for revenge until he had great abilities.

Hu Qingshan nodded.

“The ancestor guessed you would ask. He told me to tell the young master physician: do not be impatient; everything will have its resolution when the time comes.”

Hua Jiunan fell into silence.

Seeing that everyone had stopped talking again, Chen Daji could only continue to plead with a mournful face. “Elder Chang, if the Old Immortal of the Hu Family won’t help, is there any other way to save my dad?”

Chang Huaiyuan let out a soft sigh and looked toward the pine tree in the courtyard.

Everyone understood his meaning and signaled with their eyes for Chen Daji to go and plead there.

Chen Daji understood immediately. He ran to the pine tree and fell to his knees with a thud.

“Grandfather Tree, you are merciful and compassionate. Could you please step in and save my dad?”

Seeing that the pine tree gave no reaction, Chen Daji continued to kowtow loudly. He used so much force that even though there was a layer of snow acting as a cushion, his forehead was soon broken and bleeding.

Hua Jiunan felt for his brother. He also walked to the pine tree, knelt down, and kowtowed.

“I beg for Elder Pine’s mercy!”

The ground in the north was frozen year-round, making it as hard as rock. After only a few strikes, Hua Jiunan’s head was covered in blood, just like Chen Daji’s.

Old Sixth Hui and Hemp-clad Grandmother couldn’t bear to watch and wanted to pull the two of them up, but they were stopped by a look from Chang Huaiyuan.

Sure enough, a moment later, a simple, desolate sigh, filled with the resonance of time, echoed in everyone’s ears.

“As long as he does not leave this courtyard, his safety is guaranteed.”

Chen Daji was overjoyed. He kowtowed three more times with even greater force.

“Thank you, Elder! Thank you, Elder!”

Old Sixth Hui also showed a look of joy and stepped forward to help Hua Jiunan and Chen Daji up. He also followed suit with his thanks: “Elder Pine is merciful!”

Hemp-clad Grandmother looked at the blood-covered faces of Hua Jiunan and Chen Daji with great heartache. She brushed her hand over them; Chen Daji felt a wave of coolness on his forehead. Not only did the pain vanish, but the bleeding stopped instantly.

“Wow, Grandmother, you’re amazing!”

Hemp-clad Grandmother was clearly very pleased by the boy’s flattery. She smiled and moved to treat Hua Jiunan’s injury as well. But to her surprise, she found that Hua Jiunan’s forehead had already stopped bleeding, and the wound was even slowly healing on its own.

“Heh heh heh, I almost forgot. My grandson has a layer of Dragon Skin protecting him. He’s quite sturdy!”
