Chapter 111
Chapter 111
Just as the Flying Corpse’s long nails were about to pierce straight through Hu Fei’er’s chest, a faint phantom rose from Hua Jiunan’s body.
It was a vigorous Green Pine, and coiled upon that Green Pine was a Jiao roaring at the sky.
In that split second, the phantom wrapped Hu Fei’er tightly within it.
Then came a thunderous boom. The white fox and the zombie were both sent flying backward at the same time.
The zombie roared in fury. The white fox let out one pained cry, then went silent.
“Precious granddaughter, are you all right?!”
Hu Qingshan, the Hu Family Patriarch, flickered several times in succession and rushed straight toward the place where Hu Fei’er had fallen.
Hemp-clad Grandmother, Old Sixth Hui, Chang Huaiyuan, and the others charged toward Hua Jiunan instead.
But the first to arrive were Li Guang and Chen Daji.
More precisely, it was General Li Guang’s arrow and Chen Daji’s slingshot.
General Li rose upright on his warhorse, his bow drawn like a full moon, his arrow streaking like a shooting star.
“Beast! You dare harm one blessed with generations of virtue? You deserve death!”
Chen Daji, meanwhile, was sprawled on top of the Ghost Sedan as if firing a gun, aiming with one eye closed.
“You son of a bitch, don’t hit my Big Brother!”
“Watch me nail you right in the crotch!”
With a whoosh, the bloodstained pebble struck the second Flying Corpse squarely in an indescribable spot.
Then came a tremendous explosion.
The Flying Corpse that had been hit instantly shattered into clumps of black smoke.
Even Chen Daji himself could hardly believe the result.
His mouth fell open as he muttered in a daze, “Holy crap, no way!”
“I shot a rock, not a stick of dynamite!”
That, however, was Chen Daji giving himself far too much credit.
The reason it had such power was entirely because of the arrow General Li had shot.
As for Chen Daji’s utterly dishonorable attack, at most it would have made the Flying Corpse clutch its crotch and hop around a few times.
While Chen Daji was letting his imagination run wild, the Ghost Sedan drifted above the Flying Corpses.
“Jie jie jie! You beasts dare hurt my precious grandson? You’re courting death!”
The Human-skin Lantern hung high overhead, and the two blood-red characters on its left and right-“Wretched” and “Miserable”-were especially chilling.
Under the pale light, the Flying Corpses looked as if they had been splashed with concentrated sulfuric acid. Amid sizzling sounds, waves of black smoke rose from their bodies.
The Flying Corpses roared in unison, and four of them broke off to pounce at Hemp-clad Grandmother’s Ghost Sedan.
The remaining six now had no one left to stop them.
The fastest one had already lunged in front of Hua Jiunan. It opened its huge mouth, black mist billowing from within, and was about to bite down.
Its rancid breath smelled like a pair of stinking socks that had been sealed in a pocket for half a year.
Just as Hua Jiunan was about to die a miserable death, Old Sixth Hui arrived in the nick of time.
At that moment, this one of the Gray Family Immortals, worried sick over Hua Jiunan, already had bloodshot eyes and looked as if he had gone mad.
“Stop, you beast! You may not harm the young master physician!”
In his desperation, Old Sixth Hui actually thrust his own arm into the Flying Corpse’s mouth, taking the fatal attack in Hua Jiunan’s place.
With a crack, his entire right arm was bitten off at the shoulder by the Flying Corpse.
After suffering such a heavy blow, Old Sixth Hui not only refused to retreat, he roared and revealed his true form, then knocked the Flying Corpse to the ground with a furious bellow.
When the other three Flying Corpses saw this, they pounced like wild beasts at Old Sixth Hui, who was tangled in battle with their companion.
The sounds of tearing bites and enraged roars rang out without end.
Even at this life-or-death moment, the one Old Sixth Hui thought of was still Hua Jiunan.
“Young master physician, run! Don’t worry about me!”
Seeing Old Sixth Hui’s miserable state, Hua Jiunan’s fury finally broke through all limits.
“Sixth Brother Hui!”
The final two Flying Corpses were gradually closing in on Hua Jiunan, yet he still stood there motionless.
Chen Daji panicked.
He jumped off the Ghost Sedan and threw himself at one of them.
“Screw your ancestors! I’ll fight you to the death!”
But Chen Daji’s meager strength was far too weak before a Flying Corpse.
He was like a delicate young maiden throwing herself at a big, savage brute.
The Flying Corpse scooped him up in a princess carry.
It had intended to bite Chen Daji to death in one gulp, but when it saw his face covered in nosebleed, it froze.
Then it greedily stuck out its foul-smelling tongue and began to lick it up.
Chen Daji let out an earth-shaking scream.
It was not because it hurt. At that moment, only one thought was flashing madly through his mind:
Holy crap, in front of everyone, I’ve been violated by a zombie?
My innocence!
Hua Jiunan, however, knew none of this.
What he was thinking was this:
To save him, Hu Fei’er’s life or death was now unknown.
Old Sixth Hui had lost an arm and was still fighting a brutal battle. By now, he was covered in wounds, yet he fought to the death without retreating.
Chen Daji had died horribly.
All of his emotions finally erupted completely at this moment. The Hua-character Ancient Jade worn on Hua Jiunan’s body cracked apart with a sharp snap.
Tears streaming down his face, he raised his head to the sky and roared,
“Brother, go in peace! Watch me avenge you!”
He spat a mouthful of hot blood from his chest onto the peachwood sword, and Hua Jiunan’s voice rang across the entire mountaintop like the tolling of a great bronze bell.
“Heaven is round, earth is square. The decrees and commands span nine chapters. I hold the command sword; ten thousand ghosts shall bow and hide.”
“As swiftly as the law commands!”
